Now that Rebels Season One has finished, I wonder when it will be released on physical format, and how.
It seems that Disney doesn't tend to release Blu-Ray editions of their series. I hope they make an exception with Rebels.
Will it be DVD only, like Spark of Rebelion?
Will the full season pack include Spark of Rebellion (and/or its Vader-extended edition!) and the four shorts?

I open this thread for us to talk/speculate about it, and to post here any news on the matter when they happen.

I'm thinking it will have the Vader scene in the first episode and include everything. I'm hoping for a BluRay release.

I'm thinking the pilot was made to charge us extra. Just as the first few eps of clone wars was turned into a "movie" and charged seperately from season 1, I bet they are doing the same with Rebels.

And just like clone wars, the intro movie is some of the worst material.

I too am hoping for a blu-ray release, and one with reasonable pricing akin to that of TCW releases. Disney can sometimes tend to charge out the wazoo for its releases, the one thing that has prevented me from getting films like Finding Nemo... last I saw in a store it was going for about $35. I can buy either the Star Wars PT or OT on blu-ray for about as much.

Though I must admit, Netflix has certainly spoiled me as I haven't had to go out and buy seasons 5 or 6 of TCW. One could only daydream it'd find its way there. (zero chance, I know)

I bought it on iTunes and when spark first came out it did not have the vader scene, but they have since updated the file to include that scene. I had to buy the movie and season 1 seperately though, they don't seem to consider them the same thing. don't know if that will affect how they release physical copies.

Also, I imagine it will eventually make it to netflix, and hopefully not take very long. disney and netflix are forging a pretty strong partnership moving forward. They have like three of four direct to netflix Marvel Cinematic Universe shows coming out, and their next couple tentpole blockbusters will be on netflix before they are on HBO. netflix also got the exclusive for TCW Season 6. I bet it might take a year, but I bet they get it.

I said it on the blog entry comments, but I'll repeat it here:
IMO, just one Blu-ray or three DVD discs seem too few to hold all the episodes with good quality, not to mention any possible/probable extras.
But this is only provisional, not officially confirmed info. Anything can change.
IMO, this Complete Season set should include (besides the 13 regular episodes, which is taken for granted, of course):
    • The four shorts
    • Spark of Rebellion (Extended version with Vader's scene; or original version and Vader's scene separately as an extra. Vader's scene should be included even if the full Spark of Rebellion feature is NOT)
    • Several documentaries and featurettes (included those previously released on Spark of Rebellion DVD)
    • Season Two and/or The Force Awakens trailers
And, as a personal hope, but highly unlikely:
    • TCW "Bad Batch" arc story reels.
    Do you hear me, Lucasfilm/Disney?

So far, only a US release is confirmed. I hope they release it worldwide, with an European release including Castillian Spanish

Have bad news for Aussie and UK fans after receiving an email from Disney Australia today.

Star Wars: Rebels - Season 1 WILL NOT be released on Blu-ray in either Australia OR the UK due to "commercial reasons."

I have a VERY bad feeling about this...
    No Blu-Ray, but... ¿no DVD?

The UK and Australia will get it on DVD, but no Blu-ray. This now makes it 2 strikes against Disney with their Star Wars Blu-rays:

    1. Lossy, not lossless audio on The Lost Missions.
    2. Rebels Season 1 only getting Blu-ray release in America.

Now, I dread what and where when Disney releases TFA on Blu-ray.

To Disney, these are "just" TV shows. I suppose they won't mess up with the movies. I think TFA Blu-ray is granted.
Look at the Marvel example: They don't release Agents of Shield on Blu-ray worldwide, but the movies are properly released everywhere
Well, I suppose our last hope is Germany:

Oh I we better get TFA in 3D blu-ray when the time comes. I know Disney likes to never release 3D blu-rays for some of their movies in North America.
