I think it would have been far better as a tv series, to be honest. With the quality of special effects these days, tv series can be as enjoyable as the films. At the time they made TFA neither DR or JB were 'well known' stars and AD made his name with Girls, a tv sitcom. I don't think the OC would have minded appearing in a tv series with good money (!) and a decent script. It would have been able to delve into the characters' back stories far better than just three films.

Actually my greatest issue with Solo was that is was released that close to TLJ. And I think that actually was what did hurt the most.
Not because of some backslash, but just because there was almost no time to market that movie. Maybe casual viewers didn't really catch that this is already another Star Wars Movie.
I really waited for a good while before watching it on the big screen. But when I did I liked it.
Friends of mine who haven't seen another Star Wars Movie went to see it and they really liked it too.

I would blame 90+ percent Disney's release and marketing "strategy".

To the topic of Solo2. I think even if it's not a priority, it can become one if fans who liked it keep talking about it.
I would love to see Alden Ehrenreich as Solo again no matter if it ends up as a movie or series.

The movie wonderfully distilled the Solo enigma. It showed us why he's the guy who claims to stick his neck out for nobody, except he always does. And looks out only for himself, except when he always looks out for others too. And is keen for everyone to know that he's a scoundrel, a pirate, and an outlaw. Only one of which is really true. We saw Q'ira protecting him, and who he really is, by pushing him away from her. A follow up series would do very well to focus on Han's heartbroken desire to prove Q'ira wrong. As that is what will define him until he eventually meets Ben, and Luke and Leia. The series could culminate in The Empire killing Q'ira. Giving Solo extra motivation to help Kenobi and the rebels although he of course maintains that he has no ideals.

We have Lando as the sort of Harry Lime character. And Jabba as the cuddly gangster boss who is a constant threat to him but they need each other and Solo can keep him at arm's length. Another indication that Solo was never committed to villainy.

This + S:ASWS was released up against a couple of other major films with next to no promotion to support it. That's going to tank any movie.

S:ASWS is great! Arguably one of the most Star Wars movies to ever Star Wars, and its a love letter to the franchise to boot.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Solo...especially considering it wasn't a box office success. Han Solo was my fave from the OT; but Aidan was great. I especially loved how he met Chewie..and the 'shower scene':p
