So apparently, according to cinemablend, the rebellion is a technical descendant of the separatists in TCW. The gist of it is that Palps created the entire war for his own misdeeds to creat the empire. The article makes the case that he is the reason the rebellion exists on its own making his own downfall because, as the site puts it,

"A direct link can be made between the Rebellion and the former Separatists, who, in the wake of the Republic victory, never received reparations promised by the Empire, and remained ostracized --- and in many cases occupied --- while the Empire spread its tentacles far and wide.Instead of fairness, the galaxy fell victim to fear of the Empire's ever-expanding military. The absence of the Jedi Order --- their fire gone out of the universe --- left many worlds without any recourses to counter injustices."

In a sense, we never the daily activities of citizens during the wars and whatnot so it would make sense.

This is actually taken from Luceno's interview with The Verge, it's his own conclusion to which might be some truth (I'm certain some cells were born this way), but the book makes no such connections between Rebellion and the Separatists. In fact, the only rebellious events we get are in the systems that never were part of the Republic nor are part of the Empire, but the Empire wants to fold them in.

But is that information correct? Leaders like Bail Organa and Mon Mothma opposed the Separatists from the start so I don't get where cinemablend got that idea.

Turns out Cassian and his family were separatists to it seems some made their way over to the Rebellion.

On the other hand, Saw definitely wasn't a separatist! Seems more like a lot of like-minded disgruntled minds found common ground with the advent of the Empire.
