The next crossover event in Star Wars comics has arrived. Dark Droids will grab the baton from Hidden Empire and bring a horror flavor to things this August. The news came from Marvel's panel at Star Wars Celebration.

    From StarWars.com:

Charles Soule will write the main miniseries, with Luke Ross (Darth Maul) doing the art. That series will then spin off into one-shots and spill over into the four ongoing Marvel series. It's unknown how much synergy Star Wars, Darth Vader, Doctor Aphra, and Bounty Hunters will have with Dark Droids, but it's a safe bet it will be closer in tone with War of the Bounty Hunters than the Crimson Reign and Hidden Empire crossover events.

Check out the issue #1 cover and some interior art below:

We won't share every cover shared during the panel, but we will highlight the Dark Droids crossover covers for the ongoing series. Check them out here, and then we'll break down what other plot details were gleaned.

Soule said that a lot of Dark Droids happens because of Lando, and that readers of his Lando miniseries will be rewarded. Elsewhere, Greg Pak's Darth Vader is set to explore the idea that the Sith Lord is more machine than man, and what that means when droids threaten to take over. His fate may be intertwined with one Doctor Aphra, where some recent covers and solicits have been teasing a team-up between the two once again. The rogue archaeologist, however, will be dealing with the Tagge Corporation, who have a lot of droids at their disposal. Finally, Bounty Hunters will see Beilert Valance take on a classic Marvel foe (not Durge). The human-cyborg will be tested again, which is becoming a norm in Ethan Sacks' ongoing story.

So much more was shown at the Marvel panel, so head over to StarWars.com for all the details. And be sure to visit the Star Wars Books and Youtini Twitter pages for deeper breakdowns.
