    Boys and girls(?),

We are hours from the first footage of a new Star Wars movie.

    WELCOME TO GROUP THERAPY!
My name is Mars Phoenix and I will be your therapist for the day.

I know you are all very excited to see new Star Wars footage, it's arriving soon.
Before you call it THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE (It will be for most of us), let's take a step back and share our stories.

I will ask you FOUR QUESTIONS.

1 - How old are you?
2 - What was the first Star Wars episode you've seen in a theater and tell us about it?
3 - What is your most memorable Star Wars moment?
4 - How do you plan your STAR WARS 7 premiere event?

    Regards,

    Have fun!

    I am 39

My first Star Wars was Empire Strikes Back at the Drive In with my father, it was fantastic. I don't remember much because I was 5, but Kenner Star Wars toys was all I wanted at that time.

My most memorable moment: Spending a little time and interviewing the people that stayed in line in L.A. for The Phantom Menace back in May 99. I also remember, in the same days interviewing Steven Spielberg and having an exclusive preview of all Star Wars Episode I videogames at the E3, Jake Lloyd was there.

I will go see Episode VII maybe with my 19 year old boy or with friends. But it will be the sacred one day line-up with Star Wars fans :)

1-I am 38 but I will turn 40 two days before The Force Awakens debuts.

2-The first movie I remember seeing is Return of the Jedi but I believe I seen The Empire Strikes Back when I was four, so I don't remember.

3-When I was in first grade I went to a friends house and he had everything you can think of from The Empire Strikes Back, It made such an impression on me and started my collecting habit. When TPM came out I collected everything I could. Everything goes back to that one day at my friends house.

4.I hope to read the novel first, then wait for the first showing in the morning the day after it debuts and see it. But before that I'll watch Episodes I-VI the six days prior.

    1. I am 23

    2. My first Star Wars movie in the cinemas was Attack Of the Clones and it was glories back then...

    3. My favorite Star Wars moment is the final duel between Luke and Vader from The Return Of The Jedi. I remember seeing it when i was 5 or 6 and it was perfect back then and it's still perfect today. Every thing was right with it... music, mood and to this day i get chills from that duel.

    4. I have started my preparations for the Star Wars 7 premiere event all ready, by asking my boss to give me day off in 18.12.2015 ;) and guess what i got it!!

Sorry about my spelling and other mistakes.

    Well, here goes.

    1- I'm 45

2- My first movie was A New Hope, and I saw it with my father way back in 1977. Dad and I saw all six films in theaters. He wasn't a big sci-fi fan, but he loved Star Wars. His favorite scene out of all the films was the Mos Eisley Cantina.

3- My best Star Wars moment was when I fired up the old VCR so my daughter could watch her first Star Wars movie with me. She absolutely loved ANH, and she's been a SW fan ever since.

4- I'll make the trek to the mainland on opening day to see the first showing, and after I'll grab a bite to eat, then hit the hobby shop and toy store on the way home, and maybe snag a couple of the 6" Black Series figures, and a few SW kits. One thing will be different this time. Dad is gone. It will be a good day, but I will miss him.

    1- I'm 35
2- I suppose my very first episode in a theatre was ROTJ, but if so, I can't remember it. So I'd say that my first Star Wars movie at the big screen was A New Hope: Special Edition.
3- My best Star Wars moment was watching and hearing the opening crawl from TPM, a day before the premiere (I had friends working on the local theatre and they made a private pass for a few geeks like us...). A new Star Wars film, at last!!!... Too bad the rest of the movie was a little disappointment...
4- I'll try to watch it the day of the premiere. I'd like to make it a family event, but nobody else loves Star Wars like me. Maybe I can convince my girlfriend and my brothers-in-law, and I'd love to take my nephews as well, but I'll go alone if necessary.

    1. I'm 36

    2. My first Star Wars theater experience was ESB at age 3. I only remember a little bit. Just images really...feelings. :) But mostly I remember being dragged out of the theater when I starting crying hysterically the first time I saw Chewbacca. From what I am told, I eventually sucked it up and went back in.

    3. My most memorable Star Wars experience was probably paying to go see Space Jam back in 96 so I could see the first SW SE trailer. It was the first time since my early childhood I had ever seen SW on a big screen and it awakened my inner film geek. It was just a trailer, but it made me go seek out the widescreen VHS copies of the OT. That started my home theater obsession and 18 years, thousands of dollars, and hundreds of movies later its one of my biggest hobbies and finding the peak Star Wars home theater experience is forever the focus of that hobby.

    4. Ep7 comes out on my son's 12th birthday. He has autism and I've spent the last few years trying to build up his stamina for in theater viewing experiences. We had our first victory as he made it through all 90 minutes of Big Hero 6 happily last weekend. He loves Star Wars, and my goal is to be able to get him ready and prepped so he can see it with me on opening day.

    1 - I'm 34 (going on 16).

2 - The first Star Wars movie I saw in a cinema was Episode IV Special Edition, which I think I went to see about three of four times and was just blown away, every time, despite having watched it on a regular basis on videotape since my dad recorded it from the TV premiere on ITV back in 1982 a few days after my 2nd birthday.

3 - I've got loads. Watching a bootleg copy of Episode I in a pub in Majorca on holiday with my friends before the UK premiere date, and being horribly, horribly disappointed. Watching Episode II in the cinema for the second time, sat in the front row, and having Padme's massive chrome Nubian ship feel like it rumbled past me in the opening scenes. Putting Episode IV on DVD for the fist time for my daughter at age 3. Watching TCW episodes with my kids back-to-back. The list goes on.

4 - Well, ideally, I'd like to be able to say that it'll be a family event like some have said already, but my wife honestly doesn't give a s**t, and neither of my kids are particularly bothered about Star Wars anymore (thanks, Minecraft, thanks very bloody much! (dad) ). So although I'll be the one driving s there at the speed limit all the way, and running to get a place in the queue, I suspect I'll probably be on my own as well. Meh, at least that way I won't have to share my popcorn. WIN. (lightsaber)

    I'm 26, will be 27 on Wednesday December 3rd.

The first Star Wars I ever saw in the theater was A New Hope special edition in 1997 when I was 9 years old. After that I spent nearly ever dime that I managed to scrimp and save on the Action Fleet series of Star Wars toys, and then also to wear out the VHS tapes of the special edition that I got for my 10th birthday.

To choose my most memorable Star Wars moment was probably when I was waiting in line for Episode III. I was 17 and this was the culmination of fully more than half my life. Star Wars has gotten me through some intense health issues and other problems, and just to be at the theater then with all my friends and fellow fanboys was unparalleled.

I think I plan to get tickets as soon as they become available online and then camp out for a day or two in line. I wish it could be longer but school and work don't get done unless I'm present.... But it'll all be a surreal trip for me and my brothers in any case. We've got an entire year to plan this thing out so we will make camping out in line for EP VII work out.

    1- I'm 19

2 - I've been told by my family that I was with them when they went to see the Special Edition in '97, but because I have no memory of it, I'll say it was The Phantom Menace.

3 - Pretty much when there's a significant life event I find a new memory that involves Star Wars. From watching it late at night with my siblings as we camped out on the family room floor, going to see the PT in theatres, and now showing my nieces. I would bet that going to see Episode VII will be a new one!

4 - I plan on going to see it opening night with my brothers and friends.

"Uncle Ben! Uncle Ben! Let's watch STAR WARS!"
    "Which one?"
"The ones with things that go: Whoosh whoosh whoosh!!!"
"Ah... Empire Strikes Back it is!"
    - A typical conversation with my three year old niece.

I will ask you FOUR QUESTIONS.

1 - How old are you?
45 years old as of November

2 - What was the first Star Wars episode you've seen in a theater and tell us about it?
I was seven when I saw ANH at the Fox Theater (gone now) in North Charleston, SC. I ended up seeing it ten times in the theater with various family members and friends.

3 - What is your most memorable Star Wars moment?
    1. Being told to 'hush' probably a million times while watching ESB with my 5th grade best friend. I recall IG-88 demanded discussion on the spot.
    2. Having my grandfather be appalled that my grandmother got me a Lando action figure. He was black, you know? Lando. Not my grandfather.
4 - How do you plan your STAR WARS 7 premiere event?
I will probably have all my kids here in Raleigh to see it. They are ages 24-20 now and are huge fans. That will make it pretty special for me anyways.

    1 - I'm 18
2 - The first Star Wars film I saw in theaters was Attack of the Clones. Of course, I didn't care about SW until I was in high school, so I can't really say it was that important to me.
3 - My most memorable SW ironically happened in the "Don't Care About SW" Era of my life. It was very late in the night/early morning of the day of RoTS's release, and my parents woke me and my brothers up to tell us that they got tickets for the film. I was all "OK," then went back to bed (What? I was nine years old!) But it was fun; we spent the morning getting ready (My mom tried to do my hair somewhat like Padme's, with little success), and we got to skip school.
4 - Ideally, I want to go to the midnight release. I've never seen a film at a midnight release, so I find it very exciting. My mom says the whole family is going, so that should be fun. Perhaps I'll marathon the previous films? All I know is I have a year to plan!

LOVE IT! I love hearing stories of SW fans that weren't around when it all went down back in the '70s '80's. It means that this thing means something to a new generation of fans which just makes me want to smile and eat waffles.

    Thanks for sharing!!

    1. I'm 38

    2. First movie seen in a theater was ESB. My parents took me and did not tell me where we were going. I remember pulling up to the theater and when I asked what we were going to see them showing me the poster. I was so excited

    3. My best moment was going to see ESB for that first time until this past summer when I introduced my two girls to Star Wars for the first time and they loved it. I showed them in the order of theatrical release. Early in during ESB my 6 yo (her only SW knowledge being what she saw in ANH the night before) says "daddy, what if Darth Vader is Luke's father?" And then to see the shock on both my girls' faces when Vader proclaimed it later in the movie. I'm hoping that seeing TFA with them will become my next best SW moment.

    4. I know I'm going to see TFA with my girls but I'm not sure if it will be Dec 18. That is my wife's 40th birthday and we will be in NYC for her dream trip (this has been in the plans for years). I know she will go see the movie with us but I'm not sure she is going to let that happen on the day of her 40th birthday during her dream vacation. Also I'm not familiar with the theaters there and getting tickets early might be difficult. We definitely will be seeing it as soon as we get back home.

@DarthDwight it might be worth removing the game label to this thread (or ignoring it) and moving this thread to TFA threads because this is a great thread and I think it would get a whole lot more responses in an area that gets more traffic. Just a thought

    1. 25 ill be 26 when TFA hits theaters

    2. i was 7 years old and i remember very vividly what theater in Oklahoma i saw ANH. its closed down now, and the building is rotting but back then it was the place to be. It was packed for every show and i didn't live in a huge city either. My mom got me hyped up about it telling me stories. looking back i realize she really had no idea what she was talking about though because according to her Star Wars is about a Talking vacuum cleaner robot and a princess who meet a dog man. from then on it was nothing but love for the star wars movies. (note: She has never seen space balls)

    3. id say my favorite star wars moment would be after i saw Ep. 1 in may. started saving my allowance for toys and purchased my first lightsaber! finally i could act it out and be the hero! then for Halloween my aunt one upped it and made me Ani's costume out of a potato sack. turns out burlap is a great material for star wars costuming though it may be itchy.

    4. I don't know where ill be when TFA comes out... Im in the Navy and my 5 year contract expires in July. i haven't decided if ill be staying in or not. right now im living in the DC area, and a thread opened up for release parties, event coordinating, etc. where i live now i don't know any star wars fans that have the same passion as people from this site so i think it would be really cool to do a meet up for the show. if im in DC ill be going back to Oklahoma and camping out with some friends of mine after we pre order online. wherever i go i do plan on doing some Cos-play.

i loved reading yalls stories. :D

@Darth Lexor Kai - Dude, surely the timing alone for when your tour ends and what TFA is released should convince you enough not to stay on?! :p

    1 - 30
2 - Oh, in theater? Probably The Phantom Menace, but I had spammed myself on Star Wars OT during the 90s. I actually don't remember much about seeing TPM in the theater, or the others PT films to be honest.
3 - Going to Star Wars: The Magic of Myth at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum in Washington, DC. Fantastic. You can see a bit about it in the link below.
    http://airandspace.si.edu/exhibitions/star-wars/online/guide.htm
4 - No plan. I don't do premieres, simply for comfort purposes. I plan to go the week or so after it premieres.

    1. 27 Years
    2. ANH special edition. I loved seeing it in the theater. I was probably 5 years old when my dad introduced me to SW at home. My parents first date was to see ANH when it came out in 77' so you could say being into SW was my destiny.
    3. Most memorable moment in one of the films is when we see Luke remove Vaders mask and that scene in general in ROTJ. Personal moment....being Vader 5 Halloweens in a row when I was little.
    4. Probably just going with every person I know who is into SW. Cant wait!

I'm sure I wasn't the only kid who called him "Dark Vader" in the beginning. For some strange reason my favorite SW toy as a kid was the Ithorian from the Cantina in ANH. My parents said I carried him everywhere I went in my back pocket:-D
