Hi gang. Seeing as how I live abroad ... I won't be attending Celebration Anaheim. Which means that I will have to wait a long time to see the Season 2 premier of Rebels (though of course the wait isn't as long as for TFA). Of course we can speculate about season 2 in the General Talk thread. However, I thought it would be fun to share the top 5 things we're hoping to see come the new season. Here's my picks ...

    5) New Planets -
I was more patient than many when it came to spending week after week on the backwater world. I'm hoping in particular we get an extended view of Alderaan and it's culture (can't see another motion - media opportunity to do this.) The Clone Wars has canonized many planets. We'll only get to see so much in the new films. I also wouldn't mind getting another look at Mon Calamari ... plus brand-new worlds.

    4) A more macro-view of the Rebellion -
I'd love to see other cells co-ordinating missions with each other and seeing how things come together in the larger picture. Season 1's finale certainly seems to point in this direction, in addition to Rebels Recon's look at concept art from season 2.

    3) Seeing a few old faces, but plenty new -
I really enjoyed saying hi to old friends such as Yoda and Lando during the first year. We also had a few new characters to enjoy (Zare, Dzeebo, Kit War, Ahsoka). I'm hoping the 2nd season continues a solid balance of bringing in characters we already know and love, (but not over-using them) while also enriching the GFFA with new faces (already seems like we've got a crew who will have more than one mission with the Ghost Crew via Rebels Recon). I'm also wondering if Teller from Tarkin will show up. There is also the potential with a more macro-view, to see multiple Inquisitors (more than one intriguing possibility there).

    2) Jedi Intrigue -
The obvious one is the continuing Master/Padawan dynamic between Ezra and Kanan. Will Ezra continue to show some elements of the Dark Side. I have a feeling this may be it for Kanan this season and we'll see an Ezra that will be truly tested in controlling his fear and emotions. I'm also hoping to see Ahsoka have a talk with either Yoda or Obi-Wan. It would be interesting to see her explain to them why she will never again be a Jedi. Maybe this will be included in some exposition on what she's been up to.

    1) Ahsoka/Vader -
I think this is the mother of all things to be excited about. How will this seemingly inevitable confrontation go down? What will the build-up and tease to it be like? How will she react to finding out the fate of Anakin (assuming she doesn't already know)? Will Anakin retain any of his compassion to her? Will he finish the job? Or will Palpy have to do it for him, driving away Anakin's last shred of humanity, in addition to another wedge between Sith Lords?

What are you looking forward to / hoping for ...

I agree with everything you said, but I don't think Ahsoka should confront Vader in season 2, nor should Kanan die in the second season. :)

Vader v Ahsoka should happen at the season 2 finale but the outcome not shown until the season 3 premeir. Keep us hanging wondering if Ahsoka bit the dust or got away.

I bet you'll get most of what you are looking for. I bet we will not get much in the way of new planets. I think, to keep the budget down, we'll mostly see the crew on a few ship sets, with a small number of planet sets every few episodes for variety. Even when we were teased mustafar, it was just a blob in the background.

It probably won't happen, but I'd like to see occasional changes to the crew of the Ghost. There's no reason it has to remain static. They don't necessarily need to kill anyone off, and I certainly don't need the level of character variety we saw in The Clone Wars, but to keep things fresh I think a little turnover among the crew would be a good thing.

Different settings would also be welcome - or at the very least they could make Lothal more interesting. If you know you're going to be stuck in one place, at least try to make that place more dynamic. A full season in, and Lothal still feels pretty generic - there is absolutely nothing special about the place. I'm reminded of (and please forgive me) Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. They tied the series down to one location, but forgot to make that location interesting enough to deserve to have show about it. Fortunately, they corrected that mistake over time. If Rebels is going to remain pinned on Lothal, hopefully they will find a way to make the location matter.

I'd also like to get a better sense of how difficult it would be to start a rebellion. So far things have been pretty easy, the crew has just about always come out on top, and it has come at very little personal cost. I think it would help to see some Empire Strikes Back style setbacks.

They never really did address the significance of Mustafar in the finale, did they? It was all on the Star Destroyer. Loved the episode so much, that I glossed over that fact.
You're forgiven, but I do take issue to the DS9 comnent. It's one of my all-time favorites. :) The station wasn't boring, just got stale after some time. I agree to they addressed this issue well. Rebels could learn from their model. No need to invent the Defiant. They've already got an exquisite ticket off of Lothal.
