Fantasy Flight Games has announced a new trading card game called Star Wars: Unlimited, featuring characters, ships, and stages from all across the franchise. The company describes it as a 'fast-paced, dynamic game that is both easy to learn and strategically deep'. It will be released through three sets per year once it launches globally in 2024, and will include new art.

Additionally, Organized Play was built into the game experience from the very beginning, to the point that it will appear to all players, from those looking to build community at their store level, to creating worldwide-scale events. Jim Cartwright, Product Strategy Director for Fantasy Flight Games, described in a statement how important this was for them:

Chris Gerber, Fantasy Flight Games Head of Studio, added the following in a statement:

Notice that this is a trading card game, where the cards included in each pack are completely randomized and the customer does not know what is inside it. Fantasy Flight Games also develop what they call living card games, where the cards are not randomized, and the customer knows exactly what they are buying (like The Lord of the Rings, Marvel and Arkham Horror LCGs). Star Wars: Unlimited belongs to the former category.

I've lost track of the FFG Star Wars card games at this point. Really kinda wish they'd focus more on creating deeper systems, rather than games that they'll abandon in 2-3 years.

Or even better yet, if they (or whoever they sold the license to) could release a new expansion to Rebellion or Imperial Assault sometime.
