    Hello you scummy villains.
Is anyone in here at all excited or looking forward to this movie in the slightest way? I definitely am and I'm hearing rumors of Apex Lex as the villain.

I'm all for Gunn directing the next Superman and kicking things off with the main DCU. Total faith. (falcon)

I'm more excited for what Matt Reeves is doing. Until I see footage of Legacy.. I'm all in but keeping a slight arms distance. I know for a fact Reeves is going to deliver on Batman 2.(death star)

Yea I guess I could be more excited for legacy. I'm just below mid range level. I think it's in good solid hands with Gunn. A new superman already though. Batman. I would have much rather he tackled Flash Gordon.

Yeah, Flash Gordon would be dope. I think everything is in good hands so far.
If Superman Legacy is starting things off as we seem to believe it is.. a young Superman that is going to sign a multi movie deal the same way RDJ did for Iron Man is exciting.

The more I read about the new superman production, the more my anticipation grows. I'm curious to see this "new asthetic" Gunn is forming. Descriptions like "lighter tone", and themes of "hope", are intriguing. I wonder if they'll go for a more old school superman attire with trunks and a bright red and yellow "S". It could be cool.

I'm excited for the movie, but I'm pretty content with Superman right now to be honest. I loved the Warworld comics and how that's spread into the focus on the Super-Family rather than just Clark Kent, and I really enjoy Superman & Lois and how that show focuses on the family and Clark as a father. Going back to a younger Clark isn't something I'm over the moon about. I'm sure I'll be excited when the time comes.

I'm also pretty worried about Gunn's story, if I'm being honest. Every superhero movie or show I've seen from Gunn (which is everything from Marvel and DC except GOTG 3) shows that Gunn really likes to focus on the "found family" trope. We see men who are troubled due to their own upbringing (usually coming back to father issues) connecting with a group of just-as-troubled-people in order to save the day. Between Clark, Lois, and Jimmy Olsen (and maybe Lana Lang?), I'm concerned we'll be getting more of the same.

Still, time will tell. I just hope that the movie looks good, does good, and has a fun soundtrack.

I'm sitting here thinking how a non symphonic soundtrack would feel. It worked well with Flash Gordon and Thor Ragnarok. I'm open to it.

I'm so excited for a DC cinematic universe that actually works.

DC are my go-to for comics, but I've found the movies pretty underwhelming (and among my friends, I'm probably the biggest defender of them). It's about time they got their due.

I'm sure they'll do both. You can't have a new Superman onscreen without an iconic soundtrack, after all!

Although there is another thing that's coming out that may make me want the Superman movie a little less...

The earnestness of Superman with a similar-but-slightly-less-manic energy of Star Trek Lower Decks with the influence of Anime? I'm in!

Making Superman the cornerstone of their cinematic universe makes sense.

Batman may be the slightly more popular character (I personally have read FAR more Batman), but there's a Batman movie like once every few years. We had one just about a year ago.

Superman movies feel more like an event, given their relative scarcity. The last time we had one was a decade ago, and it launched the original DCEU. In better hands this time, I think this could be a good launch point- iconic, without being overplayed.

That said... I'm willing to give the new guy a chance, for sure. I like Cavill in a lot of things (especially The Witcher), and he was a fine enough Superman... but he hasn't played the character in a starring role of a new movie in nearly six years (Snyder Cut is basically just a set of deleted scenes, it doesn't count). Thanos hadn't even "snapped" yet, at that point. Clearly it's time to move on, but much like Snyder, Cavill seems to be stuck with a weirdly rabid cult of personality. Hopefully these people are able to join the rest of us in reality and realize that Cavill is done.

I like the Lois Lane casting. I have no idea who the new Superman is and I am admittedly a huge Cavill fan.

Completely agreeing with the part about it having been a few years since Cavill starred a role as Superman and the Synder Cut not counting, but I have to fundamentally disagree with the Snyder Cut just being a set of deleted scenes.

To me, it's a different movie altogether, in the same way that two different Cinderella movies may tell the same story but can evoke completely different emotions and create completely different experiences. (Or rather, it's more akin to two different performances of the same musical, like seeing an Off-Broadway version vs the original cast. Or, since I'm in the mood apparently, the 1965 version of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella vs the 1957 version with Julie Andrews or the 1997 version with Brandy.)
Yes, this is a nitpick BUT I PICK THIS BATTLE!! (duel)

Yeah, it's weird. But I think I can see it.* In their minds, Cavill isn't the best Superman, but he's one who got the short end of the stick over and over. I don't think I've ever seen an argument that Cavill is the best Superman, but rather a chance for the actor to prove he can be the Superman his fans want to see. It's more of "give the man a break and a chance" rather than "he's the BEST SUPERMAN EVER." Or at least the takes I've seen and sympathize with have trended towards that. (I think the cut cameo in The Flash could have done something to help assuage those feelings. Or make them worse. I don't know.)

*I'd probably put myself in that camp, but I'm also not a sycophant of Cavill. I like him because he's a good actor and a super geek and nerd. He's not the best Superman ever, or the best actor ever, but he's a man who loves what he loves and is gracious towards his fans. That earns him a lot of goodwill to me.

    Same for me.
This is what I meant as being a huge Cavill fan as well.
