    Except from article:

"To cut to the chase, here’s the skinny on the situation: the trademark that was registered was one for a project called Star Wars Resistance. That name, in and of itself, is quite similar to Star Wars Rebels, suggesting that they will use a similar approach in the Sequel Trilogy Era. My hope is that this series fills the gap between The Last Jedi and Episode IX, as I imagine it will. I personally believe it would be a smart move if they took an approach similar to The Clone Wars and focused on established characters from the movies as opposed to creating a narrative that revolved entirely around a new set of characters – but perhaps it’s a little too early to speculate, considering that we don’t 100% know that this trademark is for a show to begin with."

My wishes for this trademark if this is in fact a tv show:
    1) It takes place during the time period after ROTJ and TFA. I feel like that's a more rich time period then during TLJ and IX.
    2) It does actually take place during TLJ and IX, however answers the situation with Leia.

Darn, if this is true, I think this squashes my dreams of a Luke Skywalker post-ROTJ show featuring Lor San Tekka. Oh well, I'll watch it anyway!

I like the idea of show running between 8-9 especially if there is a huge time gap between the movies. If that is the case I want to see Rey, Kylo, Finn, Poe (hopefully Rose died after her final "heroic" act). They are the heroes of this generation after all. Would really suck if this is a few years after the Bloodline novel and Snap Wexley is the main hero.

Why should it? Right now, while Warner Brothers is really struggling with DC Movies, they're killing it with 3-4 concurrent shows on the CW. Having 2 or 3 Star wars shows running in the same period, provided they're separated enough, with room for crossovers is certainly possible.

That said, I'd rather see the Resistance building itself back up after TLJ, culminating with the Death of General Organna.

I think it's safe to assume it's not a South Park crossover?

At least the empire are going to have trouble with fighters of the official faction.

While I like the name of the show, I actually hope that if it's NOT going to cover the gap between TLJ and IX.
My reason is that we will have recently finished watching a show about "underdogs in a war" with Rebels. And before that, a different war show with The Clone Wars. Yes, I get it, "Star WARS." But sometimes the best parts about these war shows aren't the front lines.

I'm just afraid that Resistance will be Rebels 2.0, and I don't want that. THAT BEING SAID, if they cast Rose as the main lead, I think I'd be FAR more cool with the show than before.

And before people call me a troll for choosing Rose, let me explain! One of Filoni's biggest strengths is his ability to flesh out characters and redeem them. Look at TCW Anakin and Maul; look at Tarkin through TCW and Rebels. Rose is a character I personally liked, but I do understand where others disagree with me and why. Making her the main character could go a long way in "redeeming her" in the eyes of those who don't like her.

And maybe Finn too. Don't get me wrong here either, since Finn is one of my favorite characters. But he did get the short end of the stick in TLJ, so giving him the chance to shine in a TV show might be good for him.

AND THEY CAN BRING BACK SHRIVE AND ZAY FROM BATTLEFRONT 2 WOO!!

Either way, I don't really want this show, but I can see the silver lining if it's true.

I think the main difference here is that Anakin, Maul and Tarkin had no reason to be "redeemed" as you put it. Fleshed out, sure, but redeemed?

A more fitting comparison to Rose would be Jar Jar Binks.

Fair point about fleshed out vs redeemed. My bad there. However, I will contest that Anakin was straight up redeemed and not just fleshed out.

    To define them:

"Fleshed Out" is to give a character that we either A) are intrigued in or B) feel are/were (criminally) underused and give them more screen time and stories.

"Redeemed" is to make a character previously out of favor with the community popular again via character evolving means. This is synonymous with "Rescued From the Scrappy Heap" in my mind*. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap

Tarkin was intriguing and we gave more screen time to. Maul was underused and we gave more screen time AND more stories to.

By the end of the PT, not many fans were intrigued with Anakin, and he was by no means underused.
From the wooden acting, bland romance, and the relatively quick fall from grace, the road to Vader didn't feel believable or even earned. Sure, we can justify that by saying "Lucas isn't an actor-focused director" etc, etc. And while this is true, it only helps the actors, not the characters.

In comes The Clone Wars, and we see Anakin Skywalker truly for the first time. We see his skill, his strength, his bravery. We see his friendship with Obi-Wan and leadership as a General. We see his possessive nature surrounding the people in his life, and his aggression get the best of him. We see him bristle against the people who are supposed to be his family, and strain against a destiny he doesn't really want. We see him fight for a system and order he doesn't really believe in. We see Anakin.

And now, going back into RoTS, we remember TCW Anakin and the story becomes different. Maul and Dooku are fleshed out. Obi-Wan and Anakin's relationship is fleshed out. Anakin as a character is redeemed.

That's...you know...I really want to fight this, and I do disagree on principal, but you kinda got a point. I still think that Rose would be a great character to lead the show though. I don't think Rose will ever be as reviled as Jar Jar was, and I think she as a character has far more potential than Jar Jar did after his first movie.

That being said, I don't hate Jar Jar as much as many people seem to (and I find his theories super fun).

In the end, there is a reason I used both "fleshed out" and "redeemed." Rose doesn't need to be redeemed to me. She needs to be fleshed out and grow, but she wasn't so criminally bad that she needs redemption IMO. But for those who don't like her, she DOES need to be redeemed. Or at least given a chance; and Filoni's the guy I trust the most to do it.

*And indeed if you go to the Western Animation page of the TV Tropes link, guess which character will be found under The Clone Wars tab?

I realize that Disney has control now and they are going to push their Era. However, I'm an original die hard fan. Since 1983, I've wanted more of the Empire and Luke Skywalker. The only thing that's come close was Rebels and Rogue One which I enjoyed. Didn't care for the Prequels and I've been disappointed with the Sequels. Hated that they underused Luke and killed him off so quick. Mark has been the BEST throughout his career in supporting Star Wars and I know he was willing to do so much more with his character.

So, what I would like to see is a TV series staring Mark Hamill as Luke and have it set between ROTJ after the Battle of Jakku and TFA. I want more of Luke and his T-65 before we lose Mark as we did with Carrie.

I have no idea what the next animated project will be with Dave Filoni, but a Luke Skywalker centric story set between episode 6 and 7 would be awesome. The new series can use the master of voice talent himself, Mark Hamill, to voice Luke Skywalker. As long as the characters and story are compelling, I am up for anything.

I didn't even consider an animated series with Luke. That would be fantastic. With it being animated, it could go back and start with the celebration at Endor and follow the collapse of the Empire and could even have Luke at Jakku! Man, I'd LOVE TO SEE THAT!!!!!!!!
