Alliance to restore the Republic. Then it dawned on me that is the Original Trilogy. Haha

Ahh, yes. That was the official name of the Rebel Alliance, but now that I think about it, that name may no longer be canon, at least until it is used in Rebels or a newer book.

MSW just posted a new entry describing concept art which seems to elabourate on the Skellig Michael location. May be what the use of the water tank stage ties in with.

    http://makingstarwars.net/2014/11/c...wakens-falcons-triumphant-return-maybe-maybe/

Kind of makes you wonder why only Hamill and Ridley were involved in the location shoot though, if the Falcon and other vessels were in the concept...

I almost hate to say this, but can't resist. What if Jar Jar takes over for Palpatine after his death and runs the empire. Luke then goes to the gungan cities to eradicate the galaxy of all gungans and in the process falls to the dark side where he's captured and forced to spend 30 years listening to Jar Jar tell stories.

Okay I'm joking, but could not resist. :)

I'm going to say this, then, remiel6: I think we will DEFINITELY see a Gungan in EpVII at some point, if only as a background character.

Some fans may want to forget the PT. I think most fans are hoping for something closer to the OT with the ST. But Disney will want to galvanize the saga as a whole. I think there will be more little nods to the PT than some people are hoping for, or may even be happy to see. I may be wrong.

I'm not quite sure what the concept art pictures in the background of a meeting(set/production) has to do or imply with the article's description.
I've read other rumors that the film ending occurs in a "castle/structure" so the set described MAY be a rebel base or headquarters where Luke or the young leads either confront a character who double-crossed them or the place is the final battle of the movie which could involve a rescue of Skywalker with the Falcon or everyone making a hasty exit.

Clouds of black smoke are not good but if the Falcon is in the ending then it might be spared, thank the Maker.

This is the first of a new trilogy. The previous two trilogies first films both ended with a celebration and medal ceremony. I'll be very surprised if TFA doesn't end the same way, and to precede that with the destruction of the Falcon would be a very bold move. But then, maybe that's what it needs. Perhaps there will be nothing to celebrate by the end of TFA?

    Right! ;)
The last Star Wars film was 2005. The smart $ would be on a upbeat, Disney ending.
I, however see JJ & Lucas making the bold, counter-culture move of having the end be a huge "all is lost" moment that seems to be a massive cliffhanger.

    For example;
The Rebs all gather to celebrate Luke's return & the young leads success BUT the scene ends with a huge attack by imperial forces led by a bad guy everyone thought was waxed! The base will be a smoking wreck & all the cast will be saying: WTF?

Now THAT would be the way to go, FettMan. A surprise attack during the expected (traditional) celebration. Like your thinking.

I still think this most likely relates to the Skellig Michael shoot and the use of the outdoor water stage at Pinewood, as I mentioned in this thread - http://thecantina.starwars7news.com...-a-return-to-otoh-gunga.671/page-2#post-15238

It's what best matches the description above and this concept we have already seen:

The thing people have been hung up on, myself included, is the fact that only Ridley and Hamill went to Skellig, yet here we see the Falcon and, in this new description, other vessels too.
But giving it more thought, that is neglecting to accept the reality of how movies are actually made.

For example, only Anthony Daniels and a remote controlled R2 unit were ever needed for this location shot at Death Valley for the opening of ROTJ...
... yet we know that this was an establishing shot for events which very much involved all of our heroes. And also featured these matte painting of a palace exterior that never really existed:
    [IMG] [IMG]
And, of course, a host of different sets at Elstree to realise that palace where all the action takes place:
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
That's almost 30 minutes of ROTJ gone by right there, and we've only seen one actor who was filmed in a "real world" location for a matter of seconds during all that time. The rest was all shot behind closed doors, right up until we head out to Yuma for the Sail Barge stuff...

What I am getting at is there could be a whole lot more going on at the "Skellig Michael world" in this movie than one might presume. Just because two actors and their stunt doubles turned up at an Island for a couple of days, doesn't mean that is anywhere near the whole story.
    Just sayin'...

The water tank could have also been used to shoot a miniature, or just water...

    Imagine this: [IMG]

A starting mon calamari fleet going into a battle. They could film that with mini models underwater. Why not? Wow!
That would have been cool in SW I if they would have used real models to shoot all the unterwater stuff. :-D
Or maybe it is a awesome deadly sea. But well we are getting (UNDER)WATER STUFF!
    THAT IS JUST AWESOME!

I heard this from someone close to someone who was in England once, so take it with liberal doses of salt:

The Force awakens and manifests itself by having Midichlorians attach themselves to H2O molecules. In this way, the Force can move around in a liquid state - a wall of water, which will put up a fight against the risen Sith Army and douse their lightsabers before carrying the heroes off into the sunset. Hence, tank.
