Great characters with a great story.

Has their story been told though, or can we potentially see them again? Lost Stars covered a lot of ground in their journeys, but the
ending of Lost Stars surely leaves us open for more?
Plus the fan reaction has been great!

Star crossed lovers separated by their allegiances - great idea and I want more!

    Good topic to discuss.

One could think that this was just a one-shot story, that they were random characters we met to see the adventures of our dear main characters of the saga from another perspective, but I guess it would be endearing to learn what happened with them afterwards.

I recall when we read Lost Stars that was the first bit we heard from the Battle of Jakku, and now that we have learned more about it from Aftermath: Empire's End it would be really nice to learn what happened with those POW from the Empire. Was the New Republic lenient and took a case-by-case approach? Or did they treat everyone with the same mindset?

If I recall correctly, Claudia Gray had expressed interest in writing a follow-up to Lost Stars, but nothing concrete has become of that as of yet.

I'd totally be up for another novel/one-shot/comic (personally, I think Claudia Gray should be allowed to write another novel about the pair, just taking into account the reception of her other books and how well she developed those characters) to see/hear/read more on these characters and that era of the timeline, for sure!

True, another book based after is another way to connect events between VI and VII also, so there are opportunities there.

I'd be interested in the New Republic's mindset towards POW also, to see if they were so different from the previous regime...

They are both 24 after Lost Stars, so they could still be around at the events of VII/VIII/IX.
I hope to get more of them.

Maybe they're saving a sequel for the book for the sequel to Force Friday?

    TFA- Force Friday- Lost Stars
TLJ- Force Friday 2- Lost Stars 2?

When the book first came out I immediately thought they were setting up for the reveal that Finn's surname is Kyrell, especially since Ciena Ree was described as dark skinned. Could still happen and could definitely be a reason to explore post-jakku with those characters since Finn would have to be born and kidnapped only a few years after the battle.

I also feel that Finn might be the son of Thane and Ciena....and he might have been kidnapped as a baby by Thane's brother Dalven (who joined the imperial remnants in the Unknown Regions).

Absolutely brilliant book! "Lost Stars" has instantly become my favorite SW novel to date. Gray has a beautiful prose style with urgency and adventure in each chapter. She takes her time to develop believable relationships and dramatic conflicts and effortlessly weaving it into the events of OT. Her book never felt like fan service, or a nerd's ultimate dream to write a perfect novel. Everything is well balance and events unfold organically.

I'd love to see her stories in games, TV, or films in some shape or form!

Literally just finished the book- probably my favorite canon book so far (but I'll be starting Thrawn soon, so we'll see).

I totally agree that while the book is great on its own, the ending pretty much implies a sequel. In fact, I'm a little surprised how cagey Gray is being about that- I just kind of assumed there would be a sequel, given the last few pages.

That being said, we probably won't get one until after TLJ at the earliest, or even after episode 9. The book would have to go boldly into the period between Jakku and TFA, and I'm sure the movies will want to stomp around there a little first- and, in fact, it might be better for them to do so, as we'll have more frames of reference for timeline at that point, much how Lost Stars intersected with famous Galactic Civil War moments.

i was completely fine with the open ending--it's one of my favorite things about the book.
early on i entertained the idea that they may be Rey's parents, still on the run from both sides even many years later, but Ciena's looks seem to put the kibosh on that.

i hope there's no sequel. i like to wonder about where they went and how they lived out their lives. don't need it spelled out for me.

I seriously loved Lost Stars, its the only one of cannon star wars novels i have read more than once. I would love another novel and i feel like one is coming, but not sure when. While it would make sense to put the second book out as part of the journey to the Last Jedi, Claudia Gray is already working on a new book for the journey to the Last Jedi, so unless she is writing two books for the event, i'm not sure if will be getting it before the next movie.

On a side note i was not in love with the first part of the Manga. Maybe it was the translation, but the writing just seemed strange. I'll stick with it, i just kind of wish it was a direct adaptation.

Finished it last night! Agree with all on this thread. Very well done story and a nice glimpse of life on a planet annexed by the Empire. Also the "rebels are reallly terrorists" argument.
