What's everyone's thoughts / ideas / opinions / dreams on what the BIG moment is Season 3 will be? Season 3 had enough of them (and that was just in the finale!) plus lots of cool moments/setups scattered throughout.

Me? I believe at least one of the core group is going to bite it - and i have a feeling it will be Sabine. She's featured prominently in the marketing and think she'll be the unlucky one - maybe by the genius of Thrawn? Otherwise, I think it will be the demise of Maul - could it be Obi-Wan? I doubt it. Vader? Would love it to happen.

Interested to hear everyone's thoughts on what will be the defining moment of S3?

The defeat of Maul. How that will happen I do not know. And Ezra leaving the ghost crew and being a Dark Side adversary to the Empire. Thrawn's fate for this season is a bit of a mystery to me. I think he will disappear by the end of this season, though, making room for another villain for the next season, with future Thrawn cameos.

Thrawn is a mystery in the sense that with all the fan fare bringing him back, plus what he means to the fans, they can't just use him sparingly in one season and then here and there after? Who knows. I see at least 2 seasons minimum for Thrawn

In my mind, it'll be the reveal that Vader did not kill Ahsoka.....likely in the latter half of the season. We may not even see her, but it may be mentioned that she's alive.

That would be a dream, but ideally I only see them using him in full force for one season. He is like Vader in the sense that if they keep Thrawn on the Rebels, there would be no Rebellion in Ep IV xD

I think, as much as I would hate it, there is a good of chance of them killing him at the end of this season, too.

Also, I forgot to mention, Sabine becoming Mandalore! Or at least rallying her people against the Empire. If not, telling them to stop working for em'.

Season 1: Grand Inquisitor and Tarkin
Season 2: Vader, Inquisitors, and Maul
Season 3: Thrawn, Imperial Mandalorians (?), and Maul?

The downside of them getting rid of Maul, depending on how they do it, is it might kill the chances of a far-fetched Obi-Wan rematch on a possible spin-off film, which is something I'd very much like to see on the big screen one day.

As much as I liked him in recent episodes, it's time for Maul to go. They get too wrapped up in loose ends from TCW. This show should be about the Rebellion.

While I'm very happy to see some clone wars threads tied up into the ot era, i agree, I'd like to see the story of three rebellion flourish in the coming seasons.

I have a feeling the big moment will be ezra stepping away from proper jedi training. If i were to put money on casualties, id bet kanan and maul

Agreed. I'm pretty sure Filoni has even talked about the need to tie things up so as to lead properly into the New Hope timeframe. Unless they find a clever way to write them off, characters like Maul and Ahsoka can only be around so much longer.

    [SPECULATION]

I agree that Thrawn is too big of a name to have him as a one-season villain. I guess that we will mostly see him in the first half of the season. He will then be brought back for Season 4.

The second half of the season will focus on Ezra's dark side, which will be set up in the first half of season. In the first half we will see him use more and more dark side tricks and this behavior will lead to conflicts with Kanan. For some time, Ezra will leave the Ghost crew and work under Maul, because Ezra thinks that he also fights the Empire.

However, this season will be the end of Maul. He will be defeated (for good) in the season's last episode by Kanan. Ezra will then the error of his ways and join the Ghost crew again.

I do not think that Obi-Wan will kill Maul as some have speculated, but there is a way it could be done: Kanan indicates to the leadership of the Rebellion (which includes Bail Organa) that Ezra is straying from the Jedi path and that he needs help guiding Ezra. Because Ahsoka is no longer around, Bail tells a desperate Kanan about Obi-Wan. Kanan and Ezra contact Obi-Wan for advice. However, Obi-Wan's advice only alleviates the situation temporarily. Later when Ezra is interacting with Maul, Ezra inadvertently lets Maul know that Obi-Wan is still alive and living on Tatooine. Maul, still seeking revenge, then goes to Tatooine for one last epic battle.

If Obi comes back, that'll be the moment.

I kinda don't want to see much of Thrawn. I want him to come in, wreck the rebels and leave. Make him like vader from season 2. We can't have the ghost crew lose every week, but I don't want to see them beat thrawn.

Well if he could make a appearance while stationed on Tatooine that would be a big moment.

I think an appearance by Obi-Wan or a cameo of Luke (but nothing more!) would be the big moment(s). But if Ezra is confirmed to be a sort of renovated Starkiller and they use that name...that would be a big moment.

Season Three is the midpoint between the start of the Rebellion and ANH. The middle act is always the darkest, in which the heroes are put into an impossible situation, which they of course get out of in the final act, but not without sacrifice.

I think the big moments will be (1) the death of a member of the Ghost Crew and (2) the introduction of a mid-major character from rogue one in the second half of the season and after the R1 premier.
