So what I found very interesting in TFA was the development of the Force, and how the characters used it:

    • Force visions - While Luke and Anakin had visions of the future, TFA took it to another level, with Rey seeing the past and possible future, as well as voices of long-deceased Jedi being heard.
    • Thought transfer - this was the natural evolution of Jedi mind tricks, with Kylo Ren and Rey both able to get inside someone's mind and gather information.
    • Dark side vision - while we don't see this in the film, it is implied when Kylo is speaking to Vader's remains, asking for him to 'show (him) again the power of the Darkness.'
In addition, there is mention of the concept of 'balance in the Force' introduced by the PT, as well as talk of an awakening, which almost undoubtedly refers to Rey.

Going forward, how do you think the Force will manifest in this new trilogy? Will it build off the concepts present in TFA? Will established ideas from the OT and PT such as Force ghosts re-appear? Will we see anything from the comics, books or TV series, both canon and non-canon? And are there any new elements you would like to see?

Personally I would like to see a Force dimension, an abstract realm beyond space and time, which Rey visits as part of her training under Luke. Similar to the Force planet from TCW.

The Force is used in several different ways through out what is now canon. I am looking forward to seeing how the whole Rey thing pans out and the use of the Force on Temple Island

Yes, the Temple is very intriguing - to see the films dipping it's toe into the Old Republic era could be very interesting. If I'm not mistaken the first Dark side user was originally a Jedi. So potentially we could see the presence and influence of both the Light and the Dark side in the first Jedi Temple.

i think the ST is redefining assumptions about the Force. the change in the language (Dark now has a counterpart in Light), the emphasis on balance, the conflict inherent in Kylo Ren (and hinted as a potential in Rey) seem to be telegraphing that this isn't going to play out so simple as Dark=bad / Light=good.

i'm looking forward to more psychometry, a possible Force bond, and more exploration of the KOR & Church of the Force as legacies of the Galactic War.

If Rebels is any indication of where they are going, then we can expect more Force visions. I think it will be necessary for the story they intend to tell. Especially considering how far ahead on the timeline we have jumped.

Rey is a character that is important in this universe, not just in the context of The Force Awakens, but in the entire galaxy. She deserves it. We'll make sure that that answer is something that feels like it was something that happened a long time ago, far away, and we're just telling you what happened.
When I think of this, I think of season 2 of Avatar:LoK and the subsequent consequences of Kora's decision to leave the gates open to the spirit realm.
I do believe the Force is becoming a more active player in the tale, and so-called 'coincidences' are not coincidence at all.
As for specific force powers.. I would also like to see some force-assisted limited flight. Like force lock, it's just a development on an already established power.

I think it will continue it's role of being a means of gaining power by those with the ability to tap into it.
    • It will keep being used as power over other people and things in new ways as users further their knowledge of it
    • it will eventually corrupt all who wield it (to wildly varying degrees) as all extra power over others does
    • and it will be seen as a sentient force with a will of it's own and worshiped (alongside it's users maybe) by those with a religious disposition or who have difficulty being unable to explain, interpret or understand galactic mysteries.

In the PT, Qui-Gon talked about the will of the Force but I feel the movies didn't really show it. However, in the TFA, the will of the Force was shown rather clearly:
    (1) Rey hearing the voice that drew her to the light sabre in Maz' castle, as though the Force is calling out to her
    (2) the light sabre going to Rey instead of Kylo
    (3) Rey winning the light sabre battle by letting the Force took over and guided her
    (4) all the coincidences that happened in the film.

Not sure about that. It could be cool, but then again it could be cheesy if not executed well. I guess Harry Potter did it okay in the Goblet of Fire.

I wonder if we'll learn about the Church of The Force and the Acylotes of the Beyond.
