i'm a huge fan of the series. Although, I've never really gotten into the portable versions. Purely console for me. Whether it was playing through the original 5 or 6 times back in the 80's or my recent play through of the games I still own ahead of the next games (Eventual) release.

My vote goes to Ocarina. That one had a profound impact on me, and games in general. Its no mistake that subsequent games have been a bit lost trying to recapture its glory.

Gonna give a honorable mention to Wind Waker though. It got a bad rap at release due to gamers not having the ability to reconcile the cel shaded look. But having just completed my second play through yesterday after not thinking about it for 10 years, its a pretty damn good game. Now I'm onto Twilight Princess HD. I'm only an hour or so in, but so far that one is coming up short of my memory. I remembered it as a great, true successor to Ocarina, but have been a bit disappointed so far.

Awesome man! Ya, Ocarina of time was the first game I officially owned. Amazing controls, great coming of age story, memorable soundtrack, fun side missions. There is a reason why Ocarina is one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time.

My memorable mention would have to go to majora's mask, as I loved the surprisingly dark, sad, and creepy tone. It was quite a unique Zelda game.

I like Majora's MAsk in theory. But adding a clock to a Zelda game always felt out of place for me. Part of the fun I find in Zelda games, is the ability to take your time exploring, looking for secrets, or doings stupid things like catching fish or bug hunting.

I feel like if MM had not been a Zelda game, it would be among my favorites. But because I have certain aspects I look for, it never ranked among the others for me.

I definetly know what you mean. At first, I never liked Majoras Mask. Possibly because of the clock, or the difficulty spike it had in the dungeons compared to Ocarina. Just last year I picked it up and took my time to play through all of it. Understanding the concept of slowing down time, speeding up time, changing the day and planning out what to before hand was cool. Doing one 3 day cycle of side quests, then one 3 day cycle of the main story. I find majora's mask does a really great job on fleshing out the characters in the world. It has some of my favourite side quests in the series too.

I loved the wind waker, or at least the HD version. I never got a chance to play it on the gamecube. The world was huge!

My apologies for necroing this thread, but I just this last week picked up the controller and started playing Breath of the Wild and I cannot get enough of it. I have hours into it and am barely into the content.

I'm a first-generation Zelda fan, being 7 years old when the original game was released in the United States. I grew up playing the first two on the NES, plus "A Link to the Past" on the Super Nintendo. I was 18 when "Ocarina of Time" came out, and loved it...but "Majora's Mask" frustrated me to no end. The same happened with "Twilight Princess", and I haven't kept up with the series since. I would like to see a film made, based on the franchise...but i think most would deem it a Tolkien ripoff.

    Bump!

I have a theory that your favorite Zelda game is one you played when you were in your early to mid teens. I think my brother's favorite is Ocarina, mine is likely Wind Waker, my friend's younger brother's is Twilight Princess, and their even younger brother's favorite is Skyward Sword.

I really love the newest one Breath of the Wild personally, but it's not on the list so I went with Ocarina of Time. The Zelda series have been a mainstay in my childhood and now adulthood, with me passing that excitement onto my kids.

I grew up mainly on Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. I have beat OoT so many times, but yet to beat MM because that time mechanic is so beyond frustrating. I'm sure I will beat it soon. But without the Zelda franchise, I would have never adopted the username I have today: Ganon136. Thanks Legend of Zelda!

I was never a huge Zelda fan, as a child of the 80s I played the first two but they didn't do much for me and I didn't understand why everybody loved it so much. Then in college my roommate and I both had N64s and because I didn't have many games at the time I played his copy of Ocarina Of Time and it blew me away. I was on the verge of becoming a Zelda fan at that stage, to the point that I went out and got Majora's Mask as soon as it came out but I just couldn't get into it and I haven't played another Zelda game since. I still remember Ocarina Of Time fondly though and it was my poll choice.

I used to be huge Zelda fan. I started on the first, The Legend of Zelda on NES. My fav for a long time was TLOZ: A Link To A Past (SNES). But the golden chalice was Ocarina of Time, which I played tell the N64 cartridge needed lots of blowing. It revolutionzed 3D gaming and despite me no longer being huge Link fan, it still gives me fond memories.

I was less fond of the nightmarishly difficult Majora’s Mask, but I loved Windwaker. Affer that I stopped, couldn’t get into the Link becoming a Wolf.

I love A Link to the Past on the SNES. Super Metroid was great too.

A Link to A Past was amazing. I loved that Link is the Son of A Knight and the while Light and Dark Worlds.
