I suspected that there might have been a discussion thread on this topic already. But I searched and didn't find one. Also, this thread is hard to categorize forum-wise because I challenge posters to consider ALL of Star Wars content (the movies, the animated shows, and the live-action series. I supposed you could even list things you think qualify from the comics or books.)

The idea is to create a comprehensive list of the scenes/moments that really "got" to you personally. I'm putting this in The Mandalorian only because I'm a huge fan of the series and many of mine come from the show. But again, anything from the OTs, the PTs, the STs, the TV shows, etc. qualified.

    I'll start us off...

Mando Responds to Grogu's Interest in Seeing his Face. The Mandalorian S2:E8. I've seen that scene a zillion times and it still gets me every time.

Han Responds to Leia's 'I love you' with "I know." OT's TESB. The best part about this classic line was that it was ad-lipped by Harrison Ford. George Lucas's script called for him to respond with 'I love you too.'

The Return of Luke Skywalker. The Mandalorian S2:E8. As the scene on Moth Gideon's ship was unfolding, no one could believe that the Favreau and Filoni would 'go there' and bring back SW's most iconic character. They did.

The Live-Action Debut of Ahsoka Tano. The Mandalorian S2:E5. First no one expected her to show up right off the bat. And secondly, they weren't prepared for her kick-butt introduction. If you watch any of the reaction videos, fans were actually crying when she appeared.

Okay, this is just a teensie-weansie start. Add your favorites!

I've rethought about this. I've finally decided it is the Order 66 sequence in "Revenge of the Sith".

The 'Medal-Awarding' Scene. OT's Original Star Wars (ANH). After an exciting conclusion, the movie ends with Luke and Han receiving medals for their heroic actions in the destruction of The Empire's DeathStar. The scene iteself...John Williams' music...all the way to the cut ending to "Directed by" (revolutionary & technically a film industry 'no-no' at the time.)

Chewie's reaction to seeing Han killed on Starkiller Base. You can feel the pain in that roar everytime.

It's so emotional for me because everyone knows this feeling of belonging or wanting to go on an adventure.

    Yoda's Death
It's quite sad how Yoda is leaving Luke alone in his home. But old Yoda is kinda cute as well.

It is too late for me, son

This whole conversation between Luke and Vader on that bridge was bitter sweet. And I don't know how, but I always think I can read Vader's face even though he's wearing a mask. Excellent body acting here.

Luke's Lightsaber comes to Rey. ST's The Force Awakens. The shot of Luke lightsaber popping out of the snow and flying to Rey -- particularly with John Williams' music playing in the background -- was one of film's big moments.

Trying to limit it to first impressions.

    1. The trash compactor.
    2. "I've lost R2!"
    3. Luke lost in the Hoth blizzard
    4. Closing the outer door.
    5. Rogue 2 discovering Han and Luke.
    6. The entire "I am your father scene" from the beginning when you realise there's no escape.
    7. Yoda's death
    8. "The shield is down. Red group. Gold group. All fighters follow me. Ha Ha! I told you they'd do it!"
    9. "Father please!"
    10. "Help me Punjab, please" (oops, wrong film, see if you can guess which)
    11. "Will you help me?/Anything"
    12. This image
    13. Strike me down in anger and I'll always be with you. Just like your father.
    14. "You're just a memory / Your memory".

Great list, Martoto! But as first impression images go, it's hard to get any better than the one on the right:

So much things I subscribe to, above.

Let me throw in one or two more :

    - Shmi to Anakin in TPM : Now, go. And don't look back. Don't look back.

    - Obi Wan to Vader in OK : I'm sorry Anakin. I'm sorry for all of it.

    - Luthen's monologue to Jung in Andor Ep 10
: What have I sacrificed? Everything.

Luke training Grogu as he was trained by Master Yoda. TBOBF: S1:E6. Total fan service. But as fan service goes, it doesn't get any better than this. :)

R2D2 fixing the Falcon's hyperdrive as Darth Vader's forces close in. OT's TESB. R2's 'saving the day' moment combined with his squeaky yell as he falls backwards inside the ship was priceless.

Boba Fett's Quote: "I'm a simple man making his way across the galaxy." The Mandalorian S2:E7. That line brought chills to many long-time Boba Fett fans.

@Darth Derringer's OP here asks us what we consider are the scenes that "get to us" the most.....the most emotional scenes in SW.

Since the emotions are not specified, I categorized mine.....this was really tough....and great posts so far here!

    Saddest moments

Death of Obi Wan in ANH

Obi Wan's pleading with Anakin at the end of ROTS (ROTS by the way in my top 5 fave SW movies)

Death of Maarva Andor ……(but it leads to another emotion, see below)

Anakin’s spiral into hate and becoming Vader

    Joyous moments

The Throne Room in ANH – by far the most joyous moment for me, and really, IMO, one of the more underrated scenes in SW

Celebrations across the GFFA at the end of ROTJ – come on, Admiral Ackbar AND Wedge “getting jiggy wit it”

Stirring moments – Star Wars is great at the “battle is going bad, need something to turn the tide, or someone to come in and help at the last minute” scene

Clone Troops drop in and assist Jedis at the end of AOTC

Resistance X-Wings turn the tide in TFA….”Incoming at two eight point six”

Han shows up in the trench in ANH in that good ole Falcon!

Din shows up in the Razor Crest to save the day, Mandalorian Chapter 12 “The Siege” …..the Razor Crest’s finest moment, and Din shows off his flying skill with a superb hammerhead stall and turn to blast the last TIE fighter…

Narkina 5, ANDOR Ep 10, the breakout, superbly executed plan, one of the most stirring moments in SW for me

Maarva Andor’s personal eulogy, ANDOR Ep 12. Tension…..Sadness…..Courage…..Hope…..wow. Again, writing and delivery here just the best ever in any SW live action….

Luthen’s Monologue on Sacrifice, ANDOR Ep 10…..beyond words to express my feelings on this. Superbly written, superbly acted….completely enthralled and hanging on every word of his…..

I've always wondered why no one mentions, or discusses this scene: Luke standing before the charred remains of his aunt and uncle, for me, it is the most emotional.

Luke is standing there, the wind is blowing, his cloths flapping in the wind, almost as if the wind would carry him away, or propel him to the ground, as he looks upon the gruesome remains of his lifelong guardians.

This sets Luke off on to his transformative adventure, the monomyth: the hero's journey.

This is the genesis of the Flametrooper.

It was rather shocking, for me to observe a Flametrooper in action in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It catapulted me right back to this scene in particular.

In the Mandalorian, Moff Gideon's Flametrooper seeks to burn out Din Djarin and his compatriots out of the shelter they are harboring in, also brought me back to Luke's scene above.

When I watched the Kenobi series, and Owen Lars appears on screen, I remembered this scene as well, Owen would meet a ghastly end... not by the hand of an Inquisitor, but a Flametrooper.

The scene was shot in the 1970's, I don't think we will ever see a more horrid, yet riveting scene of this magnitude, ever again, in a Star Wars film.

    1) Binary sunset, always.

    2)You were my brother, Anakin.

    3) Galen Erso's monologue. 'Jyn, my stardust, I can't imagine what you must think of me.'

Interesting take, Rogues1138. You illustrated how a film scene can be perceived differently over time. When I saw the original Star Wars in the theatres, that scene was simply a "Aw, that sucks, but now Luke is free to go with Old Ben" moment.

But over the years, SW fans have had an opportunity to become more invested in Owen and Beru so -- as you pointed out -- the sight of their charred bodies packs more of an emotional kick today for newer fans than it did for us old fogies back in 1977.

I also was able to watch the original Star Wars in a drive-in theatre when it was first released. I begged my mom and she was excited to take me because Star Wars was a hit.

I also agree the scene was an aww, that's a shame moment, simply because of the way Owen treated Luke, he was now able to go on his adventure with Ben, but over time, as I got older watching this film over and over again that scene became a chilling moment for me.

Every time, I've watched the Prequel trilogy that scene reminds me of how much GL has changed as a director. What happened to the guy who shot that scene? Where did he go... hehe. Still, I love the prequels I'm a Jedi guy... ;)

I know Grogu has become a cynical eyeroll for some of you SW fans. But as we approach the premeir date for Season 3 of The Mandalorian, I think its important we take a moment to recognize how critical the show has been to sparking a renewed and reenergized interest in Star Wars, especially coming in the aftermath of the ST films.

The pilot was incredible. The story of this masked "I can bring you in warm or I can bring you in cold" bounty hunter --- with its absolutely amazing production values (we hadn't heard of The Volume yet) --- was already at an A+ level before viewers got to its ending. That first camera shot of "Baby Yoda" left fans gasping in surprise around the world.

The Mandalorian meets The Child. The Mandalorian S1:E1. The emotional scene that launched a TV network.

I love this sentiment. The scene itself had some emotion, but there was an almost instant feeling that Star Wars had broken through. Baby Yoda was everywhere. It was a real emotional moment for those of us who had lived through the dark times(1983-99) to see the general public wearing SW t-shirts and carrying Grogu plushies... and on top of all that, the character has not been mishandled at all. I feel like his story has been very significant and he hasn't been relegated to a merchandising cash cow.
