The New Hero

I'd also like to see a non-human main character. A robot wouldn't work, since "droids can't think" in the Star Wars universe.

I don't think we'll get that though. My guess would be that Rian makes a human female POC the main hero of his trilogy. Probably black or Asian.

An old man. Imagine if Obi Wan were the protagonist of ANH and lived through it. Not that I want a rehash of ANH, but I want an old veteran Jedi who's been fighting the Sith too long.

Also, Darth Bane as an Anti-Hero. Maybe have to two grudgingly work together to overthrow the many squabbling Sith Lords who have conquered the Galaxy.

 

It will just be about Kylo Ren.

 

A Jedi on the run from the Empire, desperately searching for something or somebody at the same time. As much as I want major wars in the stars, this is a sort of character narrative that would fit RJ's style.

 

Imagine a protagonist much like River in Firefly so he/she is a force user but with mental health issues & is incredibly vulnerable & on the run. Hence needs a team of some sort to make her safe & avoid the Empire or whatever evil is after her. Basically I just want more Firefly!!

 

I can actually imagine both of these characters being in the same story.

 

This is exactly what I've been having in the back of my head for a while, too. I'd add that the fishing village should be on Ach-To and what sparks the story is the discovery of Luke's island and his compass/X-wing. This is probably going too far but maybe Luke got kinky with one of the natives while in exile and the girl is his granddaughter?

Though that might be better for the X-XII trilogy. That way we'd have a trilogy on Vader, Luke, Vader's legacy, and then Luke's Legacy.

 

The initial whispers being that this trilogy will avoid the Skywalkers, and explore a lesser known corner of the Universe, gets me hoping for a non-human main character also. Whether it's twi'lek, rhodian, or , I don't mind....

Ok, purely speculation based on Rian's writing history and how he relates telling stories in this universe to playing in the Star Wars "sandbox".

I feel like we are looking at a male protagonist, highly flawed, societal misfit.

I feel like this is our strongest chance for introducing featured alien supporting characters, but if I had to guess our main hero will still be human.

I don't feel like droids are something that he really cares anything about exploring. He is writer/director who likes to delve into humanity at its best and worst.

Just me guessing though.

 

Kinda applies to Obi as well. He seems to be a very young master and also jumped up the ladder quickly as well.

Black females (males too, Mace is the solitary example and he was was a supporting character so already there are more alien force users than blacks and Asians) probably deserve a swing at the bat before Droids and random aliens.

I also think it unwise to start a whole new branch and make it dependent on a relatively harder to relate to character.
A co-lead alien or droid may work well though. I'm also interested in droids playing a larger role like in Star Wars Artoo and Threepio give the impression of being the main protagonists for a fair chunk of the movie, I'd like to see some movement back in that direction.

 

Relative to an Anakin? No. Compared to Luke or Rey? Not at all. Compared to the majority of masters? Fast track seems clear.

 

The hero should be a wookie jedi. That would be so dope.

Also, the villian should be Mark Hamill in a motion capture performance, like Snoke. Hamill's been great as the voice of the Joker in many different incarnations, I think he would slay it as an evil dark lord type. It would be a cool way to see him and Rian Johnson work together again.
