I just finished reading "The Star Wars," based on the original script written by George Lucas for the first Star Wars movie. I thought it was great, down to the art work, character design, and story telling. It was neat seeing what made it into the movie and what didn't.
    Anyone else read it?

This was interesting to read, to see how Star Wars was originally written. I think Dark Horse did a fantastic job making this into a comic. There was so many familiar things from the original trilogy. It reminded me a lot of the old Flash Gordon serials that George Lucas based Star Wars on. I liked the resemblance that Luke Skywalker had to Lucas.

I liked it a lot as far as seeing what could have been, and I thought the art was great, but I'm really glad that George Lucas made a bunch of changes to the script.

Seriously, what was with Annikin decking Leia in the face?

It's really weird, and even for a comic book I felt the plot was very disjointed. But the art is really cool and Vader as one of many implied empire's henchmen was pretty cool to see, esp. without the mask.

Loved it. Also interesting to see how writers with time constantly evolve stories.

It did have a Flash Gordon feel in design, and also quite a bit PT in tech.

Though I wonder if GL really wanted initially the speeders to look like Star Destroyers?

Also, anyone else notice the Portuguese military crest on the Rebel pilots' helmets? Guess it's GL's homage to his heritage?

I hope Marvel will do a comic of the second draft too.

@TomVoxx Was the second draft as developed as the original SW treatment? I don't think so.

With some continuity tweaks, removal of repetitive story elements already covered by Episodes One to Six's screenplays and some name-changing, I'd have enjoyed The Star Wars being used as the Episode Ten storyline (say, 40 years after Episode Nine when the galaxy has recovered from the Rebel-Empire war and a cleaner, grander and shinier aesthetic has returned?).
