So let's discussed thins new info shared by Magnar:

this is from the 5 minute star wars story book which has 2 tfa stories, one is how rey meets bb8 and the other is how rey, bb8 and finn meet han solo and Chewbacca ...

first off it's known that rey saves bb8 from a scavenger on the metal covered beast that doesn't care too much and she basically steal it from his net of scavenged items.

later on you know they get chased and take the old junky ship known as the falcon and head off into space.

they are heading to the resistance base because they know bb8 has a message about luke skywalker that could help defeat the first order once and for all.

the flight is cut short when a giant cargo ship appears above them and pulls them inside.

finn, rey and bb8 hide as chewie and han come aboard. they find the hiding 3 and ask where they got this ship. she says it's been resting on jakkuu after being stolen a number of times. han says he just stole it back and states his name.

rey has heard of han solo and the fight he helped in against the galactic empire.

han isn't part of the new resistance and wants rey off his ship. rey begs and mentions luke skywlker. han changes his tune because luke has been missing for years.

suddenly theres a loud noise, two gangs brought together because han owes them both money, come aboard the ship. guavian death gang and the kanjiclub gang.

they want han dead, rey tries to close the blast doors to trap the gangs but instead opens hans cargo.

3 rathtars, giant land crawling, big mouth, teethed octupuses, escape and attack. han and chewie run. one rathtar grabs finn but rey saves him.

chewie gets shot in shoulder and han grabs chewies crossbow gun and shoots the gang until they can run again.

all are in the cockpit and they decide to jump to lightspeed in the hangar. at first it won't and then rey does something and it does.

han agrees to fly them to the resistance with the message hidden inside bb8.


So Rey knows Han by name and she mentions Luke, what does she say about Luke that makes Han change his mind?

 

"He Saved your life once...it's time to return the favor ."

 

Looks like Ol' Han is now smuggling some Sarlaccs lol

 

"I'm Rey Skywalker I'm here to rescue him."

 

What I'm asking is, If Rey was abandoned when she was 5, is this implying that Han hasn't seen Luke since before that time?
Is he assuming Rey has more knowledge about Luke's location than him?

ok that means BB-8 is either carrying the Sabre or the Kyber crystal???

 

He blindly trusts Luke so if he hears anything about his friend, in a negative way, he needs to go see what's up...

 

I think it's pretty clear that she tells him they have information about Luke stored in BB-8 that would help the Resistance. She appeals to him because she knows he was instrumental in helping the rebellion in the past. And then Han agrees to take BB-8 to the Resistance. Another question is whether Han has to go to Maz to find out where the Resistance is or, assuming he knows the Resistance location, he changes course to Maz after getting to know Rey in the cockpit? And there's something about her he wants verified?

 

Keep in mind that the little kid's books do not necessarily track 1:1 with the movies they are based on. The The Dark Knight Rises kids books were pretty egregious with liberties taken.

Yes, for some reason I didn't read the part about the message .
What you say makes perfect sense and I think Han doesn't know the current location of the resistance. If I remember correctly this was implied in the look and find book from some days ago.

 

Just watch...this is how we will see Like Skywalker in the movie before the end...as a hologram from BB-8...that's where the only leaked picture of him comes into play .

 

So assuming Lor San Tekka is the source of the message from Luke inside bb8.
Then Lor has been holding that message for a long time, maybe since Rey's arrival to Jakku?
Or Luke has recently been on Jakku? Maybe he still is and the R2 scene is him cremating the village massacre bodies like many of us have speculated? Maybe he also helps Poe get off Jakku? (@HAL'sgal)

I like the mirroring in this, in ANH Luke sees a holo from Leia, now Leia will get the holo from Luke.

 

Except Rey will fall in love with him when she fixes the restraining bolts in BB-8 and then realizes it's Luke Skywalker and then throws up .

 

Maybe Luke starts the message with "Help us General Organa you are our only hope"...

 

"Help me sister...I've fallen down and I can't get up."

 

I hope it's a holo-recordring...
