Perhaps this is old news for all you enlightened people in the cantina, but according to IMBD the great state of United arab emirates is the place to be if you want to catch TFA early in theaters.

I happen to live in a country where the movie premiers in december 16. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the last three open at the same date all over the world?

Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith had the same release date in a lot of countries worldwide, with a few exceptions for non-english language releases, but The Phantom Menace was more staggered, with initial release in USA and Canada on the 19th of May, Australia on the 3rd of June, and UK on the 16th of July... and that's not including all the foreign language releases.

Here in Australia, we've got a 17th of December release, and given that where I am on the east coast is more than 14/5 hours ahead of east coast USA, we get it more than 24 hours ahead of them.

    Where on the east coast?
    Am in Newcastle.
If you notice, Event Cinemas seem to be premiering movies on the wednesday nights these days, so I will assume Australia gets TFA on the 16th Dec ;)

Brisbane. And as long as I can remember, movies have always started on Thursdays (midnight screenings are usually 00:00/12:00am Thursday morning).

That is correct, I remember now. It's just hard to imagine I waited 3 months for Jar Jar Binks, but this was of course before the internet was common property in the US. The term "spoiler" was new for me until the production days of AOTC. I remember though that we played (the pirated) TPM PC game well before we saw the movie, and then I recieved a copy of the movie on CD-ROM, with arabic subtitles ...

We are not on the IMBD list, but the opening in Serbia is on 17th. Earlier that only meant one showing per theater (premiere), with normal showings starting the next day, but as of this year they begun playing the movie normally in the evening (depending on the running time 3 or 4 screening up to midnight).

Since I have a multiplex within 5 minute walking distance from my home, you can bet I will be there. :D

Ok, so it's safe to say several cantina members, including me, will watch the movie at least 24 hours before the US premiere.

This question is for @Viral Hide and the staff: Let's say there is an "I'm your father"-moment, like Mace Windu is in fact hiding inside the shell of C-3PO, Luke being an evil cyborg or something of that calibre, and let's also presume JJ keep his mystery box highly intact in the last couple of months. Will you have some kind of new spoiler policy for early cantina reviews?

I'm not sure we live in an era where an 'I'm your father' moment can be a secret the day of the release. I'm sure the movie will be spoiled one week earlier, because there will be special screenings and someone will spill the beans..

and who knows, maybe we've spoiled that moment already..
I'm one of the few who thinks Han will survive, but if he does die, I guess that was meant to be an absolute secret in order to shock audiences worldwide. That rumor has been floating since ages and now it seems everybody assume that as a fact..so there you go for secrecy.

It is impossible to avoid those kind of spoilers though..when the leaked Luke picture was released, I promised myself not to watch it, because I believe Luke's reveal is one of the huge mysteries of the movie. But then I opened facebook and it was all over the place. Then someone sent me a whatsapp with the image and even my father showed it to me because he saw it in a newspage...the colider podcast (and tons of other across youtube) had that image as their thumbnail and so on...

I guess the best thing we can do is stop using this forums or even entering internet one or two weeks prior release, to avoid anything.

(As a side note, I think it would be cool to have a spoiler policy in threads titles.. I understand, and I know that i'm in the spoiler section, but even here, some titles should be restricted for the casual lurkers that just want to enter the 'General Star Wars section'. I guess it would be horrible to have threads made by australians one day before the US opening with things like 'Mace Windu is ALIVE' and that stuff)..

I will avoid this forum and the internet one week before the specials screenings.
