SPECULATION Things which should be "retired" or not used for a while after the sequel trilogy

not sure you'll get your way with this one. they still have to film these things on planet earth... so the list of shoot locations will kinda suck if they can't use desert, ice or forest areas

There is only a finite amount of variations of planets someone can create before they look similar to previous planet. Had they created another all city planet, people would complain that it would be too similar to Coruscant or have an underwater city, people could complain that it would be too smilar to Gungan City, etc.

 

no more death stars. no more empire or stormtroopers. I'm fine with the war like the prequels did it different and it makes sense that the clones progressed to stormtroopers, but please no more. Also they could make a planet that was a grassland or a mountainous area shooting in the same spots as lord of the rings and hobbits.

 

No more death stars - even in a GFFA there's a finance wonk who would say that planet killers are not cost effective because the owner never receives a ROI.

"I've got a bad feeling about this" - it's beyond cliché at this point.

 

No more "punch you in the face" Easter eggs. For example, when Finn is walking around the Falcon and has to trip and stumble over space chess, the training droid, and pretty much everything from A New Hope.

 

No more "guy goes in to help girl fight off bad guys, then watches in amazement as girl fights them off herself." HATE IT. So corny. Just let the girl fight.

No more "shoot someone without looking where you're shooting." Han's done it. Jyn's done it. K2SO has done it. It was mildly cool when Han did it. In Rogue One, I was rolling my eyes.

I love stormtroopers, but any new series should be a new era that is detached from the world or has a different "feel" to it. (I would be interested in a Cowboy Bebop type of adventure following NEW bounty hunter characters or maybe a character-driven series that isn't about someone or something from the original trilogy (just leave it alone!!!). I'm open for revisiting familiar planets as long as new worlds and places are explored. A story in Tatooine does not have to take place in Mos Eisley.

But yeah, no more Death Stars or Stormtroopers (but I welcome a brand new enemy en mass for the hero to fight).

 

I never understood this, especially in the SW universe which has ALWAYS been full of strong female characters well before the new series. Sure, there are more male characters, but the female characters have been respected military leaders, fighters, pilots, Jedi, etc. I don't think anyone would be surprised to see a girl fighting or doing well at combat in the SW universe. I know its supposed to be totes feminist, but it kind of comes across as forced and even a little insulting. Just let things play out naturally, regardless of whether the character is a woman.

 

I'm ready for a villain other than the Empire/First Order (canonically different, but functionally/aesthetically the same). It was great for TFA because we hadn't had Stormtroopers and TIE fighters since ROTJ. But now we've had basically the same villain in six movies (the OT, TFA, TLJ and Rogue One), we're gonna have the same thing in Solo, and likely not much will change for IX. I'm ready for a fresh threat.

 

evil stormtroopers....instead make the first order into the fel empire and just make them part of team good

vague backstories for villians...that should die with snoke

dark siders being pure evil....also should die with snoke

underdog versus establishment....replace it with a cold war setting and have your underdog movement be a independent party between them both

good vs evil, next should double down on the "both sides have problems" bit from DJ

storytelling that is clear cut....best way to start is by making the villian of the old republic revan saga(maybe a adult tv series) into the prime jedi. make it so that the prime jedi is the being that revan is afraid of
