    Hey, all

I'm trying to wrap my head around who/what Wes Chatham's character in Ahsoka might be -- "Thrawn's right-hand man"
    Wes_Chatham.jpg

There're a few possibilities that I can think of, but perhaps y'all know better than me:

    *New character:
    images.jpeg
This is perhaps the most likely. Could even be another Chiss dude, potentially.

    *Pellaeon:
    last ned.jpeg
This sounds very unlikely as Chatham is not the right age and the character was already cast in Mando S3.

    *Rukh/can't-believe-it's-not-Rukh:
    alvaro-calvo-escudero-swd-k0851-d2130-27507-b2rukhd-alvarocalvoescudero.jpg
This could get very interesting, but would entail a heavy doze of mo-cap work, I guess. The biggest issue here, though, is that Rukh very clearly died in Rebels... Of course, that hasn't stopped loads of characters in SW before. Instead, perhaps we could get a replacement-noghri character to be Thrawn's right-hand man.

    *Eli Vanto:
    EliVanto.png
Thrawn's human friend & lieutenant from the new Thrawn book series is a character we haven't (to the best of my knowledge) seen in any visual media yet, and... having only read the first of the new Thrawn books, I don't know a whole lot about him, actually... I even don't know if the character is still alive by 10ABB (or wherever we are in the timeline now)?
Edit: Wait, Eli Vanto is a POC, right? (I can't remember how he is described in the Thrawn book, but the comics depicts him with at least a serious tan, but it's difficult to say with comics, sometimes).

    Thoughts?

Well Rukh died 9 years ago or so I don't think it's him. Maybe another Noghri? There can't be just one of them.... or maybe there can.

I don't think he is Pellaeon either. Too much of an age difference.

Vanto would be a possibility, I just started reading Treason, so I don't know where he ends up. I don't think the color of his skin matters though, just his portrayal of the character.

I would lean heavily towards a new ally found in whatever area Thrawn ended up after PurrgUber trip.

I just googled the guy, I don't know him from anything... Apparently his character is named Capt. Enoch so we have that now. I would guess he will serve a Paelleon/Vanto type position, I'm curious is Paelleon is actually with Thrawn, since he seemed to be sorta dodging the issue with the Shadow Council.

How did I miss that Wes is in this?

I loved him in The Expanse! He was such a cold, yet complex character through so much of the show.

I think it's definitely a new character. It was leaked, so take it with a grain of salt, that he will be some right hand man/masked bodyguard in gold armor to Thrawn, probably from the Peridea or recruited from what is left of Thrawn's crew.
And it makes sense, we can only assume that Pellaeon is in the known galaxy camping somewhere and Eli Vanto with the Chiss Ascendency, in the Unknowns.
If Thrawn was not sitting and chilling in some jungle for all the years, he probably made a brand new friends :)

What baffles me tho is, that the Shadow Council in Mandalorian made it seem like they have some connection with Thrawn and not at all that he is lost since before ANH. If so, I wonder why does Pellaeon harbor such a loyalty and faith, that Thrawn didn't die at Lothal and I would expect Shadow Council's reaction to his proclamation to be even more harsh and dismissive. Yep, he did saw the hyperspace jump first hand and all those whispers about his return might be probably work of Elsbeth, that we now know is related to Nightsisters and posses their power and might have some connection to Thrawn? If that voice is Thrawn to begin with.

I am wondering about the upcoming surprises, quite the hustle to get one strategic genius back in the action... might be easier to go and chat with the Chiss about some mutual interests than going to completely different galaxy. Looking forward.

Yes, this certainly is a conundrum… How do Elsbeth and the Shadow Council even know that Thrawn survived the Battle of Lothal? Much less that he’s potentially on the way back? Clearly, something’s going on off-screen that we, the audience, don’t yet know about.

Either Thrawn must have been able to contact/keep in touch with allies from wherever he has been for 10 years, or however long it’s been. OR, Morgan Elsbeth has been watching Thrawn in visions and somehow convinced the Shadow Council that she can find Thrawn and bring him back. Those are the only options that I can see, unless Thrawn has already returned and is fast at work conspiring behind the scenes, while Ezra remains stuck in the faraway-lands.

And now we've got the answer :)

Wes Chatham plays Captain Enoch, leader of the kintsugi-repaired Night Troopers.

    Enoch~2.png

Creepy AF, as the kids would say.
I got real 70s Battlestar Galactica vibes off him. I also wonder if he's like one of those He-man action figures where you can spin his helmet and his facial expression changes.

Your referring to Man-E-Faces. I had the figure.
Enoch also strongly places me in the mind of the Lord Marshall from The Chronicles of Riddick. 3381d7a6cd6fc25c03883aac76de5689.jpg

Wil the name tell us something?
Enoch is either the son of Cain (the son of Adam who killed his brother abel)
or The father of Methusalem grandfather of Noah from who is said that he didn't die, but God took him away.
No idea which hints I could guess from there.
As to the meaning of the name it's not that clear.
While it's often said to be from the hebrew root for inaugurate/initiate which would make the name to mean something like the one who inaugurates or the the one that was inaugurated there are some different possible meanings discussed like Follower (of God) or learned man.
    Well that doesn't help a lot :-D

The Book of Enoch is in the Apocrypha, removed from the bible in the 16th century, but still a part of the christian bible in parts of Ethiopia.
First and foremost Enoch was a space traveler so there's the deeper inspiration as to why the character is named Enoch. He was an involuntary astronaut or a type of abductee. He was taken up into the solar system in a craft and brought back. He saw that we live on a sphere and he saw other spheres or "heavens" as well. The book describes the occurrence in great detail. It even gives the names of the ones who took him up. In the very distorted vague description of the King James version it states that Enoch didn't die because "God took him". This deceptive joke of a description invokes a sense of supernatural mysticism also inspiring the choice in name as our sw Enoch is an undead "Night Trooper".

I don't think it will necessarily mean anything. Filoni has been in love with biblical names at least since Rebels, but I don't believe Kanan (aka Caleb), Zeb, or Ezra have anything in particular to do with their biblical namesakes. Likewise, I assume that Cham (Syndulla) borrows his name from Kham, while Ezra's father is named Ephramin without that seamingly meaning anything.

Ezra means help which definitely has great meaning for the character. Cannanites/Kannan, nah. The tribe of Zebulon, water culture. Nah. The only one I've seen that has any meaning to sw universe is Ezra. Ezra was also a Priest but I don't think Dave wrote the character with any priestly qualities other than being a jedi.

Correct enough (Ephraim is the son of Joseph and part of his tribe till it splits into two half-tribes, one of which is the Tribe of Ephraim). But I can't see how this means anything in the context of Ezra's father in Rebels, was my point. Filoni & al. apparently just picks biblical names at random; it was probably the same with Enoch.
