I don't know if it's been discussed and a general understanding has been reached already, so I wanted to ask, what is the etiquette on posting details after the movie has debuted? I wasn't here when TFA came out... actually I found this place because I wanted to talk Star Wars with other people who loved the franchise, but it was many weeks after the movie had actually opened.

I went to see TFA Friday morning of opening. TLJ I will see the very first showing (no matter when it is, but probably Thursday night). But after I have, then what? I don't assume we will all see it the very first showing, or even the very first day.

Are we expected to use spoiler tags for everything or can there/will there be a thread dedicated to spoiler discussion following the official release so that we can talk about it, but not spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet?

If I remember correctly, there was a specific thread, or maybe even a specific board that was just for people that had seen the film? Mods, correct me if I'm wrong.

@CaptainPhastastic is correct from what I can rember there were two separate forums a spoiler one for members who had seen the film so no need for spoiler tags & one for those who had not seen the film so speculation only & I believe no spoilers even with the use of spoiler tags.

You can also always use the

    spoiler tag

I mean, it's not reasonable for the forums to limit all spoiler talk to a single forum page (especially when I'd imagine many people who post here will see the film on midnight release anyway) but it's always good to be courteous during those times and use the tag, just in case.

We had a spoiler board for TFA for those who saw it and a non-spoiler board for those who hadn't seen in yet.

I wish I could ignore forums. But I'm a Star Wars junkie. I honestly suspect that anyone here who is posting is also a Star Wars junkie. I could speculate and debate all day about what we'll see next. And honestly this is one of the best times during the Star Wars release cycles (though it may not seem like it). Because right now, we get to have "wonder". We don't know what the story is, what will happen, what we'll see, and how it will end. I remember watching the official TFA trailer and thinking, "My God, this might end up being one of the best movies I've ever seen". Turns out it was just one of the best trailers I've ever seen, but the movie itself wasn't terrible (and plus I was just glad to have Star Wars back). After we see the movie, we don't have "wonder" anymore (at least not about TLJ). We'll know. We'll debate what we saw, what we heard, and what it means, but we won't have the excitement of wondering what we'll see in TLJ ever again. We only get to see it for the first time, one time. After that, we analyze, and perhaps after we're tired of chasing our tails start speculating about what will happen in 9 based on what we saw in 8. And hopefully it will have enough momentum to send us spiraling out of control with our theory and speculation... but it will be harder this time, because we didn't 10+ years for a new installment. It will HAVE to be good.

Anyway I'm rambling but I said all this to say, I wish I could avoid the forums, avoid the discussion. But I can't. I just like the franchise too much.

And so, that is what will happen for TLJ I presume? I'm fine either way, like I said, I plan to see it as soon as humanly possible and then I plan to discuss it as soon as humanly possible, but I don't want to spoil anything for anyone else.
