I was really looking forward to reading the novel and I just found out it's not being published until March next year, does anyone know what was the reason for the delay? TFA and RO novels came out at the same time as the movie if I recall correctly.

It's ostensibly to prevent spoilers from spreading.

Hmm? Sorry that doesn't make any sense to me. How do you prevent spoilers if the movie is already out?

I think they know they made the mistake with TFA novelization - they didn't give the author enough time, so there were very few additions and even some inconsistencies. Novelizations usually give us what was cut from the movie, plus some other ideas screen writers had, but cut for time. Coupled with possible spoilers, I think they decided to do it differently this time and release it near the end of theatrical run. So, I hope for better novelization than TFA.

The only novelizations that I read were: ANH, TESB, ROTJ and TPM. I was curious about TFA and RO. Does it worth?

TFA is beyond awful. Easily the worst written book since the Disney takeover. RO is a great read though.

Well my opinion on the TFA novel is quite subjective since I didn't like the movie so to me the novel was more of the same.
I still haven't read RO, I was reading Catalyst which comes before RO and I put it on hold for some reason I still have to get back to it.

This is only my opinion, of course, Rogue One was, TFA - not so much. Rogue One had a lot of nice character additions, it really added to the movie the way the comic retelling did. TFA had very little in that vein, someone from the team (I forgot who) even said that Rey hearing Snoke voice wasn't right. I think all the supplemental material (comic, book) suffered from shortage of time and J.J.'s mystery box. Gareth Edwards gave the comic writer all the cut scenes and I believe some of the were even in the novelization.

I think the biggest problem is that the books have to be printed and shipped to stores, and that just increases the number of people at any number of locations that could get a hand on the book and leak it.

The book was pushed back to help prevent spoilers and to help match the film.

That does make sense but I don't remember the novel leaking before TFA's premiere.

TFA was so beautiful because it allowed you to fill in yourself how or what the characters felt and what they thought in particular moments. The TFA novel ridiculously spelt it all out for you. That's why I didn't like that novel.

I have to disagree wholeheartedly. The Aftermath trilogy being written in whatever tense you'd call it made it extremely difficult (near impossible) to read. Heir to the Jedi's first person POV also made the writing worse in my opinion.

Snoke is gonna accuse Kylo of having compassion for Rey again!

And i wonder how the 8 pack scene will be addressed...

“And so Rey turned in the wet rain and saw a most glorious sight that made her blush and turn away...
An 8 pack of tender muscle and bulging biceps!
She was never the same again...”
