Whaaaaaat?

 

I hope this isn't the case. Some of those Trailer and TV Spots shots I was really hoping made it into the final cut.

I know I shouldn't judge this stuff until I see the film, but that has me a little disappointed, if true.

They also said that they shot up to ten hours of usable footage.

 

Some of the footage used in the trailers got a lot of mileage as promotional material as well. Saying 50% of what we've seen so far isn't in the final cut is actually less than it would seem to be a first blush.

 

Eh. First impressions are almost always positive when it comes to big-budget movies. I'll wait. It comes in January in China.

 

Better than TFA? Hard to believe but I hope is true.

 

The 50% comment is... odd to me.

It's fine now for me to say, but I saw the first 30ish min of the movie and an extended scene. Basically all the beginning stuff of the trailers and then extended parts of the clip from Jimmy Fallon. Those two things I saw were easily more than half the trailers.

That leaves what in the trailers, a few sizzles of ground and space fights, Vader and the Death Star stuff? Basically what I'm saying is that it isn't much. Maybe it truly is all not in the film? Very curious to revisit this.

The reviews are great to see, but of course will take with a grain of salt. TFA had amazing reviews too (though I did love the blast out of that movie) at the premiere. But that was people thrilled, this sounds like people legit shocked and in awe. Just amped.

Someone did a pretty extensive job at combining all the tv spots, promo spots from shows, and trailers and when excluding repeats it cut down to about 10-12 minutes of actual unique footage. I was also under the impression it was more like the 20-30 min plus range but I was pleasantly surprised that I was wrong. And to hear that even that is cut down by 50% has me even more excited. If true I am amazed that they spent a lot of time on sfx on shots not in the film because the vast majority of the all that we have seen looks very well cleaned up and fully decked out with only a couple exceptions.

 

The overwhelming response is good to see. While some of it may be exaggerated due to the initial excitement of seeing the movie, it looks like we at worst are going to get a good movie. Of course there will be some who don't like it for whatever reason, but it would seem that most of us will be pleased with the product Lucasfilm is delivering.

 

Movies are subjective... in 2 days the embargo will be lifted and we will know if all of this is hype.
