E.K. Johnston has announced her latest Star Wars novel, Crimson Climb, on Twitter today, revealing that it will be a young adult novel focused on Qi’ra’s rise through Crimson Dawn.

Lucasfilm Publishing Creative Director, Michael Siglain, also shared on Twitter that the novel will be released this October. Check out the original tweets below:

    Update!

The following synopsis has also been released (hat tip r/StarWarsLeaks):

This description confirms that the novel takes place after the prologue in Solo, but prior to Qi'ra reuniting with Han on the First Light.

It will be interesting to see how Johnston fleshes out the story between these two points on the timeline. During her conversations with Han in Solo, Qi’ra alludes to some morally questionable decisions in her plight for power and security within Crimson Dawn. Certainly, the audience can make assumptions of their own about how a person would rise to such power in an organization that clearly values decisiveness, cruelty, and above all else, profit.

While many fans have been clamoring for more live-action Qi’ra content after Solo, Johnston is sure to deliver some thrilling new details, similar to the attention the character has received in the comics.

I expect we will hear more details on Crimson Climb at or around Star Wars Celebration in April. Regarding whether or not E.K. Johnston will attend the event, the author said:

In the meantime, satisfy your Qi’ra fix with our reviews of the latest comics, Hidden Empire #2 and Crimson Reign #5, with many more to come right here on SWNN.
