Update: The Hollywood Reporter Confirms, Eman Esfandi to Play Live-Action Ezra in Ahsoka

    A new report by Cinelinx is saying Eman Esfandi, from King Richard and the upcoming film The Inspection, will be playing Ezra Bridger in live-action for the upcoming Ahsoka series. Filming has been going on since May 9 and will continue for a couple more months in the Volume at Manhattan Beach Studios as well as the trainyard at El Segundo, in Los Angeles.



    The search for Ezra has been one of the most discussed Star Wars-related topics of the past couple of years, both on- and off-screen. After Chapter 13 of The Mandalorian set up the Ahsoka spin-off show, where Rosario Dawson's version of the character name-dropped Grand Admiral Thrawn, it became clear the storyline would follow up on the events of the Star Wars: Rebels finale. During Star Wars Celebration this year, Dave Filoni strongly hinted that the Ghost crew would be reuniting in the series, but there hasn't been many news regarding Ezra and Thrawn.



    For a while, Aladdin's Mena Massoud was rumored to be playing the young Jedi, with Lars Mikkelsen rumored to be playing Grand Admiral Thrawn (Mikkelsen already voiced the character in animation). However, no Hollywood trade ever jumped on either of those stories. With this new report so close to Lucasfilm's presentation at D23, it is possible we could be getting an official casting announcement for the Ahsoka series there.



    Right now, the only actors officially confirmed for Ahsoka are Rosario Dawson as the title character, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, and Ivanna Sakhno in an undisclosed role. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ray Stevenson, and Hayden Christensen are reportedly involved with the series, though Lucasfilm has not confirmed any of them yet.



    Ahsoka will debut on Disney Plus at some point in 2023.



    UPDATE:



    A few hours after the initial story, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news of Esfandi's casting. No additional details were provided regarding Ezra's involvement in the plot.

    When Massoud and Mikkelsen were originally announced, I assumed they were the real deal. It wasn't until I read earlier this year that these roles had yet to be filled that I realized what I'd heard had never been "official" official. :)

    Look wise he is spot-on, just dye his hair blue. On the other hand, I never saw any of his movies so I don't know if he's any good as an actor.

    Hopefully, we'll get some official news soon.

    Does Ezra canonically have blue hair?

    I get that's what it looks like on the show, but a lot of times blue is used in stylistic art if black appears too dark. You see this a ton in comics- for instance, Venom is often painted blue or with blue tones, even though he's confirmed to have a black suit.

    Great, he looks like Ezra! I am not a fan fo Dawson being Ahsoka though she is not horrible but this guy really make a great Ezra.

    I am certain that it's supposed to represent black hair, but in animation it's blue, so half of the cosplayers choose to use the blue wig when cosplaying Ezra. :D

    Yeah, what's odd is that there are tons of shots where it's clear his hair is black. So I'm surprised some people have forgotten that.
