UPDATED With Second Location: Andor Season 2 Preparing to Shoot in Valencia, Spain; Director Janus Metz and Actor Benjamin Bratt Spotted

After some conflicting reports a few weeks ago, it appears that Star Wars is officially returning to Spain to shoot the second season of the hit Disney Plus series Andor in the city of Valencia. The production team has been casting extras for a while, and now it seems that the bulk of the cast and crew are arriving at the city and gearing up to start shooting in the coming days.



Spanish website Levante (hat tip to Twitter user @darkavm) shared a picture of a group of cast and crew members out for a meal and some drinks. While we can't identify everyone in the photograph, renowned actor Benjamin Bratt (Modern Family, Poker Face) is at the center, with previously announced director Janus Metz (True Detective, Borg vs. McEnroe) to his left. Levante also shared a number of pictures from the City of Arts and Sciences, a cultural and architectural complex in Valencia that has been heavily featured in other Hollywood productions such as Tomorrowland and HBO's Westworld series. We're sharing some of them below, but there isn't much to see yet besides a 'to set' sign and a large number of trucks likely carrying much of the equipment that will be used for the duration of the shoot. Valencia's City of Arts and Science has doubled in the past for (or at least helped shape) sci-fi landscapes thanks to its unique architectural elements and clean, futuristic style, so chances are it'll be used to craft a previously unseen Coruscant location, though we wouldn't rule out a Chandrila appearance, especially after seeing where the ending of Andor season 1 left Mon Mothma and her family.



The Coruscant theory is backed by the now-confirmed presence of season 1 actor Robert Emms (Lonni Jung) on set after he shared some pictures of the local 'Fallas' celebration this week. Perhaps he and Luthen Rael will have another memorable chat. You can see the original post (including one his photos) below.







UPDATE: It appears that the Andor team will also be shooting in the nearby location of the 'Castell de Xàtiva', a fortress with centuries of history that dates back to Iberian and Roman times. Via Levante, we've learned that crew and equipment have been arriving at the location in the last few days. Moreover, the online ticket platform isn't letting visitors buy tickets through April 2-6.







Season 2 of Andor is currently shooting across several locations, with most of the production taking place in the UK once again. It should arrive in the fall of 2024 if all goes to plan.
