Just started The Terror about John Franklin’s I’ll fated attempt to find the fabled North West Passage.

I’m only about 5 chapters in but so far it’s really really good although dam it has a very bleak & oppressive atmosphere & it’s definitely a summer read.

Finally finished The Once And Future King (which included the later published 5th part of the book that wasn't originally included) and that was a long boring read. Technically it's 5 books and only the first one , The Sword In The Stone, was enjoyable. It was great actually, but after that all the fun went out and it became a chore to pick up.

Anyway I moved onto these two books

One is about the '77 tours as a whole and the other just focusing on the Cornell University concert which depending who you talk to is either considered to be their finest moment (even being inducted into the Library Of Congress' National Recording Registry) or their most overrated show sandwiched between the supposedly actual two greatest shows. I decided to read them because I tend to lean in the latter camp , though I wouldn't say it's overrated, and was curious just what it was that made it so huge. Although I'm only just getting into the second one it would appear the authors aren't really sure why either, though they love it they think there are lots of better shows. Though they seem to think that the high quality and wide distribution of the bootleg in the old days built up its legend.

So I’m now about 50% of the way through The Terror & dam is this a good read it’s as bleak as hell but still a really good read. Thankful it does jump around the time line a bit which is a good thing as you get to find out about some of the crews history before they joined this I’ll fated exploration voyage. Also f any one offers you a really good cheap deal on canned goods don’t take it IT WILL NOT END WELL.

I'm a very avid reader and I love YA fiction and dystopian, here are some of my personal favs:

    star wars:
    The original Thrawn series
    Ahsoka
    Thrawn Ascendency
high republic light of the Jedi and into the dark

    not star wars:
    hunger games
    divergent
the resistance trilogy (no not the show resistance, it's a book that has nothing to do with star wars)
    anything by Rick Riordan
    matched
    the selection
    analeise rising
the girl who dared to think

So I finished The Terror yesterday. It’s really really good even is it doesn’t exactly have the happiest of endings for most of the characters.

My next book which I’m starting today is Thrawn Ascendancy, Greater Good.

My recs for you, if you haven't checked them out:

    Red Rising by Pierce Brown
Lotus War Trilogy by Jay Kristoff (one of my personal favorite series, but I understand if it's not to your liking)
An Ember in the Ashes series by Sabaa Tahir
Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson (...it's technically epic fantasy, but you can also find it in the YA section, so it's great for both audiences!)
The Reckoners trilogy by Brandon Sanderson (This is great if you love superhero stuff, especially darker things like The Boys and/or Invincible)
The Cytoverse series (Skyward, Starsight, Book 3, Book 4) by Brandon Sanderson. See the link below for a sample of the first book.

All of these are good to great YA fiction IMO, and many of them should help scratch that sci-fi itch.

    EDIT:
Also the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer (not to be confused with Twilight's Stephanie Meyer). The books are fun sci-fi retellings of Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Rapunzel, and Snow White. They're nice sci-fi romps, and the best part is that there are ABSOLUTELY NO LOVE TRIANGLES! In YA, it was really refreshing at the time!

    EDIT EDIT:
Also, the Tristan Strong books by Kwame Mbalia. If you're familiar with the Riordan Presents brand, you're probably familiar with these books. If not, definitely check them out.

I moved from the Grateful Dead to another California band from the 60s, albeit one that went in a much darker direction. Though judging from the band names you'd think the Dead would be the darker ones instead of singing about Scarlet Begonias and Sunshine Daydreams.

I'm not the biggest Doors fan in the world. I like them but I have to be in the right mood, mainly because it's so keyboard heavy and weird keyboards at that. Not to mention the often weird/depressing lyrics. At least when Jim was writing them. Mainly I like their guitar player, even Jim Morrison I have always thought was kind of a tool. An entertaining tool though. I was actually hoping the book might change my mind or provide a little insight but it's pretty much doing the opposite. It's interesting though, I still enjoy reading about the band and the music scene back then.

I'm a Packer fan and one of the old Cowboys players from the Ice Bowl (Walt Garrison) was a friend of my dad's and he was interviewed for the book so I thought it would be a fun read.

Cool, I didn't know he had something new out though I still haven't gotten around to reading Artemis. I loved The Martian, the movie wasn't bad but it just didn't do much for me but I thought the book was great.

Finished the other book then I decided to follow mythos' idea and started reading Project Hail Mary. I'm a little over halfway through and so far I'm really enjoying it. But I'm worried, I feel like
he's setting this alien up to tug at your heart strings just so he can kill it later on. If this book doesn't end with these two running a hotel together in Zihuatanejo I'm going to be very disappointed. I guess I should mark the fact that there's an alien as a spoiler, it happens fairly early but it was a cool surprise as I wasn't expecting aliens
