HUMOR What did George Lucas "really" think of TFA?

I think he feels a bit irritated with the way his break-up with the movie concluded. I mean when JJ and the team decided to can his ideas in favor of the new ones. So, he's basically saying: "It's not the movie I would make. My vision doesn't include placating the fans. But it's a good film for the fans."

 

In other words it is indeed derivative of the OT. He knows the criticism the prequels gets so he also clearly knows what the critics of the prequels want to see.

It does sound to me like "this is not the kind of movie I would have made, because it puts an overemphasis on what fans like to see, which doesn't necessarily guarantee a good story".

(Now I think George Lucas might not be the optimal choice when it's about telling a good story, but on the other hand I wouldn't rule out that he can tell a good story from a weak one apart, provided he is not involved)

 

Exactly, hes hinted for the past decade that all the fans were idiots who misunderstood the saga.. and now he says its what the fans wanted lol, almost like a subtle put down.

 

I think George's ego is going to make it hard for him to do cartwheels over this movie. Kathleen Kennedy said its been a bittersweet divorce for him, not being involved and letting others take over even though that's what he wanted (I'm paraphrasing). It's probably like going to your ex wifes wedding. You wish her well but secretly your kinda hoping it doesn't work out. Hopefully he'll soften with time and come to terms with it. I really want to hear his objective opinion at some point.

 

And yet even though I'm not going to go so far as to saying that the SW fans are indeed idiots that did misunderstand, I must say that many did indeed have a ''lack of vision'' as old Sheeve would have said. From the very start, Lucas had said that the reason that he started out making movies 4, 5 and 6 was because that part of the story was way more interesting than 1, 2 and 3 yet fans still wanted to see the first movies only to complain later that they were not as good as the first three. DUH! That's like someone giving you a Lamborghini after telling you that the reason he gave you that car was because he had thought about giving you a Trans Am but he knew that the Lambor was better. You then beg him to give you the Trans Am cause in your mind you tell yourself it will be awesome and when you finally get it you complain that that car sucks compared to the Lamborghini! Now I'm not calling anybody an idiot but.......
