It will mean journeying to an unexplored time in the galaxy far far away. It will also mean meeting and connecting with characters we have never met before. Just think, Right now we have no idea who these characters are (other than who is playing them) But by the end of 2015, these characters will be loved (and possibly hated) by many fans all over our planet. Dec 18th 2015 will be a day to remember.

As someone who loves writing creatively, Ep VII will be really interesting to see if the LFL/Disney crew can out-do what I and the other visitors to this site and others can come up with. As a 33-year-old guy who is mentally still 16, it's a chance to be re-immersed back into that universe of wonder and infinite possibility, without Jar-Jar Binks.

Can't wait! I think it's going to be brilliant. On a more human note, I have always felt sorry for Mark Hamil and Carrie Fisher in particular. They never really went on to have the success that Harrison did, so I'm delighted to see them have this opportunity. I think Mark is a fantastic guy, consistently nice and a real genuine guy. Always been great to the fans.

It means no more "dry spells" or "dark ages."

It means that Star Wars will live forever!

Episode VII is the continuation of, our generation's modern mythology, and the greatest story ever told. Seeing what became of the familiar faces of characters I grew up with and what maybe their final adventures. The next generation of Anakin's heirs and their struggles to bring peace and liberty to a galaxy that is now in civil war without end. Pre-Disney we all thought we knew how things would have been in the galaxy, and now we have no idea where it will be headed. The EU gave us great stories, but now they must be bettered in a whole new trilogy for a new generation. I can't wait to see what they've come up with.

It means I am about to lose a lot of money on everything from the movies, games, posters, t shirts, blue ray, and so much more. That is what it is all about though. Disney deserves every penny for giving us this new trilogy.

As a massive life long fan of anything Star Wars related (even the Prequels), Episode7 will be everything I thought I would never see again! The continuation of past characters that I love and thanks to the Prequel Trilogy and Clone Wars cartoons a much enriched Star Wars Universe. In the hands of JJ who done a fantastic job with Star Trek and seems on present evidence to be a massive Star Wars fan Ep7 Is in hugely capable hands.
If I'm this excited know what will I be like by the time of the first Teaser Trailer!
Im 40yrs old and my wife a kids think I'm mental!

Episode VII has me excited again, the same kind of excitement I used to feel about Star Wars when I was younger and I felt on the run-up to Episode I. Unfortunately for me the new Star Wars had a very different tone than I expected, but I still enjoyed it.

So, Episode VII gives me hope again, hope that I'll get to see something much closer to the Star Wars I love. Or it may turn out to be something completely different.

I don't know really. Depends on how Star Wars it is which means depends on how George Lucas it is. He is Star Wars. We've seen 6 films that are his vision and imagination. If it was that easy to do then other people would have been able to do it but they haven't.

Obviously the new movies will be the continuation of Star Wars but it remains to be seen what that really means. They can imitate George to a certain degree and he will help them out to some degree from afar but what they can actually pull off I don't know.

The question is even if you've watched the movies over and over and know what it's supposed to look like there is so much more to it than that. The fact that they are using the OT era look as the basic start point of design and then moving on from there will make it easier of course.

No one but George could have possibly done the total imagination infusion that the prequels had. Anyone else doing it would have limited themselves to the kind of worlds that were already seen in the OT and got caught up in a nostalgia rush which George being the creator doesn't suffer from.

It'll be nice to see a modern Star Wars. For me it's a chance at showing that a new Star Wars can win over all the fans be they PT or OT. Or should I say... it'll being balance to the force :p

That's what I'd like to be. Other than that what I know it means for me? Is a chance to relive the magic. There really isn't anything like Star Wars at the movies. Think how many major space fleet battles we've seen in cinema. Short list isn't it? It's why I still love Return of the Jedi. The music is playing in my head right now... Engage those Star Destroyers at point blank range!

I still get pumped thinking about it. Something cathartic about a massive battleship unloading it's arsenal at point blank range against another that will never get old me. NEVER.

Kind of got side tracked that...

Star Wars movies hold a very special place in my heart after
seeing them in my formative years. I'll be very happy if "Ep. 7"
wows the new generation of fans with inspired, heartfelt adventure!

I'm also a realist and keep my excitement reserved.

I don't think "great movies" are a rarity now or were more frequent
"back in the day." It's not about hiring the most talented director or
marketing strategy. You can't construct a great film. Like any other
art form, the stars simply align and the stroke of inspiration brings
    a modern classic!

I won't hold it against JJ or Disney or Lucas' treatment if it doesn't live up
to my expectations. The team has enormous pressure, my only hope is
that JJ doesn't try to please everyone.

In any case it can't be as empty as the void the prequel trilogy left inside!!!

If it's blast it will open the doors to new fans though. If it weren't for Phantom Menace as a kid I would have never have got into Star Wars, and if I'm honest I like Prequels. I'm sure JJ won't screw this up

Exactly this. I'm thinking about taking on another job, just so that I can have enough money to go out and buy a decent projector, surround sound system, PS4 and blu-ray player, then painting one wall of my living room white, just so I can treat the movies, TV series and video games with the respect they'll deserve.

Dude.... If your kids think you're mental, you're doing it wrong. Mine are proper SW nerds at 5 & 8, but won't admit to it, although you can trick them into revealing their true nerdish nature by throwing them an episode of TCW or the movies every so often and asking them questions about key characters, vehicles and events, and watch them grin when they give the correct answer! Joining the action!

It means a rebirth for the Star Wars saga.

As a child, ever since '...Jedi' came out, I was always curious about what happened to our heroes afterwards. For 16 years I wondered what it would look like, but did not have an accurate visual reference to imagine it. The PT gave us a visual image of what a Jedi Knight/Master was that the OT couldn't give us. I could only imagine how Luke Skywalker looked after he refined his skills and taught new Jedi Knights.

George Lucas maintained for so long that there would never be a ST, so I lost hope that one would ever take place. Then he changed his mind and announced that one would take place. Now that we know there will be a ST, it gives us all a chance to see what an older, wiser, more powerful Luke Skywalker will look like. Even though it will focus more on the next generation of Star Wars heroes than the middle generation most of us grew up on. It still allows us the opportunity to see our once younger heroes as the wise old sages to the new group of heroes younger generations of fans will grow up admiring. At the same time it allows those of us with kids to see our own children develop the spark that we all experienced when watching Star Wars in our youth.

It's a rebirth for Star Wars on several levels, which I won't attempt to examine specifically here. I'll just say that for the first time in a long, long time, I have nothing but hope and optimism for the future of the saga.
