First off.. i understand there are many MANY fans out there that all have your favorite character in the Star Wars universe and Yes i have one too. We have grown up and come to love them, Han, Fett, Vader, Jar Jar and so on.

But come on people we have seen them, we know their story.. I say write this not as a hater but as someone that wants to see the Star Wars universe expand.. every movie to come out doesn't need a cameo, think about your favorite for a second and think about his first line in the movie, would you want that to change?

I'd HATE to see Fett in the movie, why? because he isnt the only bounty hunter out there... Solo isnt the only smuggler.. Jabba isnt the only Hutt.. We need new people to fall in love with, new stories.. If they keep putting in cameos then a lot of people will get tired of it.. it needs to stop. The Solo and Skywalker families are not the only 2 out there..

My 2c. Hate if you like but search your feelings, you know it to be true.... ( see what i did there? )

I certainly don't want to see Imperial officers wearing ESB rank badges (like in Rebels, e.g. "admiral" and "lieutenant") but the single lined rank badges we saw in ANH (and the Holiday Special).

Neither do I want to see Imperial Star Destroyers cluttering the skies. After all, where had those been over Mos Eisley or near Cloud City?

Foremost, I'd really appreciate it if Rogue One were to respect and stick with the 'iconography' of ANH, if we are seriously to believe it's a prequel to ANH - and not ESB.

What i would Not like to see in rogue one is to see its story divert in some tangent that does not have anything to do with the original " a group of rebel SPIES " story.

I don't want to see the Rogue One squad survive in it's totality. A lot of these guys need to give their lives for the cause. This film needs to be gritty and dark while keeping that family-friendly Star Wars magic.. and from the look's of things that's what we're getting!

I don't want to see anything from "Rebels," no Sith (except for Vader, MAYBE Palpatine), & no ignoring the prequels .

    Good question...

After giving it some thought, I think Star Wars fans can live without the Boba Fett movie as well as the Young Han Solo movie and Obi Wan Kenobi movies....

Instead of focusing their efforts on the familiar, I would like to see Lucasfilm expand by giving us stories about new people, new planets, etc. "Rogue One" is a great first step, but there is so much more they can be doing. And please oh please give us a film based on the Old Republic.

Great post my friend. I too would hate to see guys like Fett, Jabba or Lando ect because these are people that we already know so much about them. I also want to see the galaxy expand and I'm really in for new characters yet that doesn't mean I'm 100% against cameos but in my case, I would prefer if these were made by characters that we have grown to love but that we know very little about. We have seen Mandalorians in action both in movies and in animated form so it would not be cool to see another Fett clone pop his/her head around yet how cool would it be to see a guy like Zuckuss or 4-LOM in action. What kind of weapons would Zuckuss use? How would he move and act? Would 4-LOM be a deadly droid that could move fast of is he limited in his walk like C3PO? For me it would be really swell to see characters that have hardly been used as this helps bind together the movies yet it is not used mearly for fan service. They want to use a smuggler? Use Nabrun Leids. Need a hardly known bounty hunter? How about using Djas Puhr, Rum Sleg or even Cradossk? Cameos like this can be used as an awesome form to both expand on characters we hardly know anything about and bind movies nicely yet if it's done just for fan service of very popular characters then it gets old very fast and many fans may not like this. I love SW with all my heart but I really have to say that for me it sucks to know that I may have to swallow the Han Solo, Boba Fett and Kenobi movies before I can see an awesome movie about a character that I bearly know anything about. I'd rather see movies about totally new characters instead of these films and if they just HAVE to use characters we have already seen then make these some of the obscure characters like the Tonnika Sisters, Hrchek Kal Fas, Swilla Corey or Hem Dazon. Heck! Call me crazy but I'd rather see a Kitik Keed'kak movie than having to see a Fett, Solo or Kenobi one and that's really pushing it!

I totally agree on wanting to see the universe expand. I'm cool with seeing character cameos as long as they make sense though. In Rogue One for instance, it would be odd if Vader didn't make some kind of appearance, he was the one chasing after the stolen plans after all. That being said, he wouldn't have to have a huge part, but not acknowledging him at all would be far more distracting than showing him would be.

Cameos and larger appearances are fine as long as they are organic and make sense for the story being told. For instance, if the story takes place right before ESB and the characters travel to Cloud City for some reason, it makes sense to at least acknowledge the presence of a character like Lando. That being said, I'm totally not interested in seeing movies about young Han Solo or Boba Fett. The potential for these Anthology films is huge, and I would hate to see that potential squandered by seeing most of them focus on characters that we already know. Heck, in some cases we probably know some of these characters a little to well as it is(Boba Fett), in some cases tarnishing what made them so appealing in the first place.

So true my friend. As you have said, sometimes movies like this do indeed tarnish characters instead of making them better and this happens alot in prequel movies. T he problem with prequels is that sometimes they take characters that had a stupid or meaningless death and they give said characters an awesome backstory hoping to enhance their tale but sadly what they manage to do is the opposite. Why on earth would I be interested in seeing a prequel movie about Greedo where we learn that he was this awesome sly hunter who nobody could defeat if we are just going to see him get roasted like a dork by Han? Instead of making Greedo look better, all that movie will do is make his death look even more stupid! That's the same reason why I've never been interested in seeing a Boba Fett prequel movie. If they want to make a Fett sequel movie post ROTJ then I'm game since they can turn Fett into a cool character that would be more than just hype and eye candy but why would I want a prequel in which Boba Fett is so awesome that he can kill Jedi and Sith left and right when I'm going to see him scream and die like a jerk? I'm so in with the idea of prequel movies if these are about characters that lived past the OT and PT movies. Seeing films about Bossk, Tessek, Arica, Jess, Shaak Ti or Cad Bane would be awesome for me as we know not the fate of these characters since the EU was trashed but I at least have no desire of seeing a prequel movie where I learn that characters like Porkins, Oola, Capt Needa, Admiral Ozzel or Nanta had INCREDIBLE backstories only to see them die the way they did in the past movies.

I don't want to see a bad story. I don't mind if Rogue One uses all the known beats and plot points (because hey, Star Wars is pretty easy to guess at), but make it enjoyable! Give us characters we will enjoy, settings we can adore, and a story that's just plain fun.

I just don't want them to do it "for the fans" and instead do it the Lucas-Way where they don't care for us but instead do it for teh sake of the story .

Quite right, but I do think there is a delicate balance you can find with doing something "for the fans". It's possible to write a story that is good and new, but also pleasing and appealing to the fans. I think that's part of the reason why this film is about stealing the Death Star plans. It's something we as fans of wanted to see and to learn about, but there's also a good story to be told here.
But, completely original and new stories are also good.

I think that's part of the reason as to why TFA "failed" although this one has nothing to do with TFA (hopefully) so it will have more freedom a-la- Suicide Squad.

    LOL!
Anyways I absolutely agree, Boba fett, Han, Jabba are not supposed to be in this movie, because the main focus is the rebellion. Boba is getting his own star wars story later down the road, although it would be cool to see other famous bounty hunters like IG-88 and Dengar. Han is chilling on tattooine with Chewie. We are getting new planets, not old ones. This is essentially a straight up war film, so fans need to know that this movie is completly different.

    1. I don't want to see Leia or Luke die. I'd like them to remain part of the series (even if just a very tiny role).

    2. I don't want to see Luke as weak.

    3. I don't want to see a ton of flashbacks. A few is okay, in order to tell the story, however a ton of them would derail the joy of movie watching for me.

    4. I don't want to see Kylo loose to Rey again. I get it, he was emotionally compromised from killing his father, he had been hit by Chewy's blaster, and he was ordered by Snoke to bring Rey to him (which made fighting her more complicated since he couldn't kill her)....however, I really need to see him come back stronger than ever.

pssst....we're in the Rogue One forum.

me personally, i don't want to see mindless action or unrelatable characters, which is pretty much what i hope from any film.
i'm okay with cameos if they make sense.
i feel TFA gave us a perfect mix of new story and fan service, but i understand that people think it was too much.
i feel like Rogue One might need to show more restraint.
