Okay, so I know this may seem like a dumb question to some, and I'm not entirely sure why I've asked this because if it does happen there will be bigger things to worry about than this, but needless to say, I've been very much looking forward to Episode 7, but I'm afraid, given the current market projections that we'll be lucky to make it to fall without an economic collapse. Normally I wouldn't post about such a thing, but I'm genuinely afraid. Right this moment, China is imploding on itself, and many nations, including mine depend on them for so much. Supposedly the collapse will be worse than the Great Depression, I'm just wondering what anyone thinks this would mean for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and whether we would even get to see it or not, what would happen to the release if this happens, etc.

Anyone's thoughts on the matter would be appreciated, I wanted to hear from some fellow Star Wars fans on this.

Given the state of the world climate today I can understand your concern and I can assure you, your not the only one. The fact that you were even compelled to post a thread like this on a SW fan site speaks in and of itself. The world sucks right now true. But there is so much more that does not suck that we should focus on. Besides. What can you do about it except to get a decent contingency in order? And the media? Ha! What a joke! They would PREFER we live in fear. And what is the acronym of fear? False evidence appearing real. And what did Yoda say about fear? Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering!

Thanks for understanding, and that acronym is great! I've never heard that before, lol. But yeah, the media is full of it....they won't even report what's really going on. They ignored the China stuff for weeks. They're such liars.

I'm just over here like "I just want to have clean water, food, and shelter for me and my family, and would like to be able to watch the new Star Wars movie". My wants are simple in life, you know?

You're right about contingency though....I need to find a way to get clean water should this happen where money is no good and I'm not able to pay for running water and electricity, since we'll have no currency. I hope my fellow fans take heed too.

I do know. I'm not well off monetarily. But that does not make me unhappy! Most of us will never have enough money, esp. in a society that creates a continuous insatiable appetite for the next best thing. All I need is all I want like you said, life is simple. Star wars can be very therapeutic esp when the philosophy of the force is applied. There really IS a living force that binds all things together, it's not just in the movies. The movies have taken that concept from science and the real universe. But yea not to get too deep. That's all I want as well and it really sucks that we are burdened with the atrocities of the world when all we want to do is enjoy a freakin movie without being shot in the theater! But hey what to do right? Either we are going to see the blast or we will wait for the dvd. I for one will be there opening day ready to watch it back to back!!!!

Past the last 2 years I had the same worries.

I live in the middle east. My motherland stands before a massiv political crises. If not solved it just will get worse. We are also on the bring of war...Even a civil one is not impossible...So yeah....And September is coming...So....All the Happenings could explode right into the faces of every fan...

Don´t worry. Me neither. If you don´t have a horse in that race there is nothing to loose, or feel any kind of regret, right?

Exactly, and it's worth noting that the CIA had Operation Northwoods planned as far back as the '60s, where they would carry out public shootings in theaters and other places to scare the public and blame on Cuba as a pretext for war...Kennedy said no, but we all know what they eventually did to him. Anyway, looks like they continue to carry those plans out in the present against other enemies now. All to keep us good and scared like you said and willing to sacrifice liberty and freedom for safety and security, when doing so will bring us neither.

May God and The Force be with you, my friend. Sounds like war is on the brink all over. And it is not the citizens that want this but the corporations that rule these nations...the Chancellor Palpatines funding both sides....too bad there is no way to just grab these psychos and make them duke it out one on one instead if they want death so much.

Even if the economy has a big downturn, you'll still get to see TFA. Put $20 into your piggy bank now, and you'll have enough for admission when it opens in December. Remember, during the Great Depression of the 1930's, and the War years of the 1940's, the one industry that boomed was the film studios. People could afford a modest price to go out and escape the bad news for a few hours. Today is different, because of streaming movies, internet, etc... but I think TFA will be OK. People still want that BIG experience.

Extreme inflation of gas prices (what the US is headed for) impacted the world at the time of the release of Star Wars in 1977, and it seemed to work out fine. If it collapses, I would hate it but this movie would be an amazing distraction from such a terrible thing happening.

I'm into Star Wars to ESCAPE from this stuff, people! Could we maybe NOT lump TFA into threads such as,"how does planned parenthood selling fetal tissue impact box office sales of TFA?", or "what does trump think about kylo Ren"?. Jesus, I am BEATEN over the head DAILY, and all day long with how awful everything is. I would R E A L L Y love it if I could come here and just talk Star Wars.

    Just MHO

    thanks

And may the force be with you as well. You know, star wars may have it's violence, but I find peace in it. I remember seeing the trailer for ESB in the theater when I was a kid. I can't remember what movie I was there to see, but me and my friends went nuts when they showed Vader swinging away and barely missing Luke on Bespin. Sparks flying every where in the dark with the red and blue sabers glowing. When You saw it you knew right away that the red was the bad and the blue was the good and of course, one look at Vader would do just that as well. I was forever changed from that moment on. I liked the fact that the good guys were struggling because that's how it is in real life and I saw that even as a kid. I gravitate to the sith/knights of Ren villains in the franchise because I'm treated as a villain(and because they are plain dope; where are my Rey fans!) quite often for no reason at all other than my appearance. So I draw these parallels between SW and my experience in life as we all do in some form or fashion, and that's what magnetizes me to it. Right now in the world, the good guys ARE loosing, struggling. But that's what drives us right? That inner force and will to live and be in harmony. That internal struggle.

I'm thinking if the economy collapses to those extremes, or the government uses HAARP against us, or MK Ultra mind controlled assassins against us, or lock us up in concentration camps, or there's a zombie outbreak, or the antichrist reveals himself, or Obama declares martial law, or the world market tanks and we are all forced to become cannibals and fight for fuel, it is entirely possible that Star Wars, for once in our lives, may not be on the forefront of our minds at the time.

People still went to go see movies and shows during The Great Depression.

If the economy Collapses we will need something to take our minds off it, and I doubt all movie theaters will be shut down.
