I like this idea. A Jedi who would tap into the darkside, learn knowledge and sith force abilities. A Jedi who takes risks and becomes powerful enough to use darkside abilities without becoming "evil". I loved the conversation between Ashoka and Vader. "Revenge is not the Jedi way" "I am no Jedi". Ashoka who was a mentor and a second teacher to Ezra. Ezra, overhearing this conversation may want to become something like Ashoka. He has Kenan, Ashoka, and possibly Darth Maul as teachers, I want to see a side in each of them in Ezra in season 3.

I don't want Ezra or Kenan to be the main focuses of season 3. I want to see huge development in the rebellion, less jedi stuff, and more about the Galactic civil war. What I enjoyed about the clone wars was when it had episodes that focused on the clones themselves. Develop commander Sato! I want them to develop piolets and soldiers in the rebellion, so we care for them if they get shot down, or die. Which is the main reason why star wars rogue one could become my second favourite star wars movie, it focuses on the average joes. I want Wedge to be in Season 3, because Fulcrum recruited him. His a-wing was shot down (which is the only "1 man" ship the rebels have) then worked on a frieghter (The ghost) and helped navigate the guns and helm. Season 2 was about the jedi, make season 3 about the rebels.

-A non-FS main villain (be it Tarkin, or Thrawn, or even Rae Sloane).
-More exploration of Ezra's Dark Side (he doesn't have to go full-on Dark, but a ruthless streak to him would be interesting).
-More of Sabine's backstory, and more of Ketsu.
-Boba Fett and Cad Bane appearances.
-Some kind of tie-in to Rogue One.
-More connecting the Ghost Crew to the greater Rebellion.
    -Etc.

    Yes!

There's so much potential for good storytelling in Rebels– what I'd appreciate seeing is more of those excellent, multi-episode storylines and fractured (separated character) perspectives– much like the Clone Wars toon series.

    Storylines such as:

    • Ezra/Hondo misadventures, as they're pretty f*****g fantastic together ... maybe leading our young Space Aladdin back toward a more morally neutral "Bridger".

    • The Mandalorian connection. There's plenty of good stuff shaking around that general bunch.

    • Maul. –I'll take whatever comes. I could probably enjoy a three part series of Maul eating pancakes, smoking deathsticks and waterskiing.

    • Obi-Wan– connecting with some rebels and having a few more wild rides before getting all "Alec Guinness" on everyone.

    • Those poor rebel pilots. The "RedShirts" of 'Rebels'. (Hm..."Red Squadron"...maybe there's a link.) I'd love to see a series involving group of pilots refining their skills...and the introduction of a young Wedge would be pure magic.

    • And later...(maybe even a later season, 'cause I know they're going to let this particular character "just be" for awhile) ...our "Schrodinger's Ahsoka" can return to us & have a few solo episodes to display her continuing gorgeous vermillion glory & bad-assery ...maybe make a brief reconnection with a certain wookie?

There's so much. Most of the main characters are all still brimming with potential for story...I love Hera, Kanan just got MUCH more interesting, Kallus is going to develop enormously in the next season too...

    So much potential!

These are ideas kicking around my head that aren't necessarily specific to Season 3, but to the rest of Rebels as a whole.

    1) The rumblings of the Death Star.
We got our first major hint that this was afoot in Season 2 with the Ghost crew finding the abandoned construction facilities at Geonosis. Obviously, this group isn't going to be involved in the heist of the actual Death Star plans themselves - but the Rebellion had to become aware of the Death Star's existence in the first place somehow, and I think that's where Rebels could come in in the form of the fledgling relationship between Zeb and Agent Kallus. Kallus showed that he isn't as particularly evil as some of his Imperial counterparts, and might be galled by the notion of a world destroying weapon being used whimsically by the Empire. If he was already having doubts about the direction of the Empire, this revelation could/would drive him to seek to escape, employing the assistance of the Rebels in doing so. I could see a good multi-episode arc wherein Kallus reaches out to the Rebels for assistance in getting out of Imperial territory in exchange for vital information, and the Rebels having to go into deep-cover mode to pull it off. I think this story arc would reach its most satisfying conclusion with two key deaths - Zeb, sacrificing himself so that the Rebels are able to escape with Kallus, and Kallus himself - critically wounded in the effort to leave. As such, he doesn't have the time to tell the Rebels anything but a few words, definitive among them: Death Star. This limited information could be relayed on to the Rebellion's command and give us the nucleus of the plot for Rogue One.

    2) The elimination of Force Users.
Our lightsaber wielding heroes (and anti-heroes, in the case of Maul) are living on borrowed time. Darth Vader is obviously aware of the presence of all of them, having dispatched Inquisitors to hunt Maul specifically. With the Inquisitors gone, we could see Vader himself taking on the task of hunting down Maul (Filoni has expressed a desire to see the two go head to head, and explicitly called it fan service, but didn't want to rush it, nor have it take away from Vader's showdown with Ahsoka in Twilight of Apprentice). Similar to Kallus, I could see Maul reaching out not to the Rebels as a group, per se, but Ezra in an effort to team up and try to defeat Vader. This would also tie in to Ezra's ongoing flirtation with the dark side itself. I think it would also be a compelling and revealing twist if the two did end up faced with Vader, and Ezra allowed Maul to be destroyed so that he could escape - not entirely out of self preservation, but as an act of vengeance for Maul blinding Kanan. This would reveal a subtle, duplicitous side to Ezra, but not one entirely motivated by evil or dark intentions. Again, his motivation is to even the score for what happened to Kanan.

But that brings us to what *does* happen to Kanan. Ultimately, I feel his death will be what brings the series to a close, and it would be fitting if his demise also came at the hands of Vader - but sometime after Maul was destroyed. This would create a deep seeded level of guilt inside Ezra, who would begin to question whether he and Maul could have overcome Vader and thus spared Kanan, had he not given in to his own impulse for retribution and allowed Maul to be destroyed. With Kanan gone, I believe this would serve as motivation for Ezra to hang up his lightsaber and leave the Rebellion effort altogether. A suitable place for him to land would be riding with Hondo, not entirely dissimilar to what Han Solo chose to do when Ben turned into Kylo Ren. Ezra had grown up a ruffian and a Lothal rat, scavenging, trading, smuggling and stealing, so after his failure to his master and friend, he decides to "return to the only thing he was ever good at". With Ezra effectively disappearing and assuming a new identity, Kanan/Maul dead, and Ahsoka presumed dead, the slate is wiped clean for A New Hope.

    3) So what about Hera and Sabine? Or Chopper?
Hera has clearly been instrumental in the formation of the Rebellion, so I can't see her leaving it. I think she will get a largely new crew, with Sabine newly minted as her second in command. Ketsu would be a logical choice to join her, and Zare Leonis being another - the latter having been aided by the Ghost crew in finally rescuing his sister from Imperial clutches (that's a plot thread, in my opinion, that absolutely needs to be picked up again in Season 3). I could see the Ghost being enlisted as something of a "special ops" crew - not involved in the major conflicts such as the Death Star battles, but covert operations into enemy territory, not unlike my proposed plot thread involving Agent Kallus. I think Sabine evolving into more of a take-charge, commanding presence is going to be crucial for the show, and it will also draw Ketsu to the cause.

    4) And Ahsoka?
My interpretation of Dave Filoni's post-finale remarks are that she is done on Rebels. I don't believe she is dead, but I believe her character has served its purpose for the time being, and that she will need to remain in hiding/obscurity for the duration of the Original Trilogy. What adventures lay in store for her after that, I'm not sure. I don't know that she would ever want to get involved centrally with anything resembling the galactic conflicts between the Republic/Rebels and the Empire/First Order, or anything resembling a new Jedi Order post-ROTJ, so I can't see her crossing paths with Luke or Leia or anyone of that sort. But there may be opportunities for her to explore the unknown regions of the galaxy and discovering her own journeys or trials there.

    My late night musings!

I agree, we need to get back to the show being Rebels and less being Loose Clone Wars Threads Getting Wrapped Up.

Absolutely right. We need to see more of Sato, get to know him, Ketsu is perfect as an ally, but with her own ship I see her more as a frequent guest star when needed, and Zare certainly needs to have his story resolved. It'd be cool if we start to see all these cells crossing paths and discussing clandestine meetings to organize, maybe even bring back Saw Gererra.

More orange-suited starfighter pilots and fewer double-wielding saber-copter glitzy gimmicks. We don't need to stray too far into the Jedi vs Sith arena, because this supposed to be an era where there are only four or five of those people in existence in the whole GFFA. Save the magic and wizardry for the Skywalker family in the movies.

As far as the timeline goes, they definitely ought to keep the door open for continuing past the events of R1/ANH and on up to the big endgame in ROTJ.

That plot thread was resolved in a book series. I'm sure they'll bring him back to the show, though.

After watching the last episode I think season 3 will involve the R1 cast. I think Leia will be back in as well. Do I see it going 5-7 seasons and the way it going now like @Pomojema said? nah, Ill give it 4 season. I never once thought they would extend it past the OT. I do think Yoda will make an appearance in season 3 or if not for sure season 4. I think Kanan will get that opportunity to talk to Yoda. I think Maul wants to find the emperor and will fight Vader. I think Ezra will encounter the emperor and wanting the sith holocron. I can see Sabine having an episode or 2 with the R1 cast. My focus is now on Kanan and less on Ezra, IDK why but I feel like Ezra wont turn to the darkside. I think Ahsoka is alive but will end in season 3. as far as what they say it being the Empire strikes back season, I think maul and Ahsoka will end with new characters(Ventress/Vos) maybe in the fold(i havent finished TCW or read the book so school me) I think season 3 will be like season 4 of TCW. 3-4 episodes of one storyline.

May the force be with you always...

We see a Daughter-colored owl watching Ahsoka in Season 2, so I'd love to see a Son-colored owl watching Maul in Season 3.

Why is it my friends that some of you speculate about Ahsoka being alive? You can see her alive and well walking to the entrance of the piramid right after they show Vader limping out of the ruins.

I completely agree. I'm really not a fan of the Inquisitors. I think they need to end up being like a failed experiment and Vader mowing them down.

It'd be cool to see a connection with Rogue One somewhere.

The one thing I do keep thinking about is how long Rebels can go on for... I don't think it's as sustainable as The Clone Wars - i.e. the time will run out, surely? I can see maybe another Animated series being created or a new generation of 'Rebels' set in-between ANH and Empire, or Empire and Return of the Jedi.

Or Maul kills them, or there's a base from which Vader controls their minds that gets destroyed.
I think Rebels can go through ROTJ. I hope Hera is revealed to have been flying one of the B-Wings at the Battle of Endor.

That'd be awesome! But surely they need to kill off Ezra and Kanan before ANH era. Because if they don't I can't help but feel like it would take away from the importance of finding Luke and Luke being the last hope.

This is what I'm hoping for. I don't find Ezra and Kanan that interesting, certainly not as interesting as Hera and Sabine. My sisters kids agree.

I'm hoping for more character studies involving our crew meeting other cells and learning their stories along the way, like in old 70's TV shows where a guest star would play someone who needs the help of the mains, eventually weaving all this together to actually form an Alliance.

I want our crew to be the glue that brings everyone that opposes the Empire together. We don't need Inquisitors or sabercopters to do that.

What ought to happen in Season 3?
    Rex wearing his old helmet.

Is that a green lightsaber blade behind him?

That's rather stupid; set up a story on a TV show and then resolve it in a children's book.
Filoni said that he hadn't decided upon Ahsoka's future yet: she could be alive, or she could be dead.

I want to see Commander Cody sent out to kill Rex, or something like that. In Legends, he continued training regular soldiers on Kamino.
