When Will Finn Emerge From His Coma?

    As the title asks, when do you guys and girls think Finn will wake up from his coma? Will it happen on-screen or off-screen?

    I ask because Finn is often referred to as the "audience character", the one who the audience can relate to the easiest, as he's just an everyday person like us all when he renounces the First Order. Considering this aspect of his character, if he were to wake up on-screen in Ep VIII after a period of time since TFA, he could potentially be how we learn of certain things that have transpired between the movies (in addition to the opening crawl), as he's brought up to speed on the events that happened since he's been out for the count. It has the potential to work, to fill in the audience with information through Finn, instead of forcing exposition with as much subtlety as an atomic bomb. Plus, it might give more time to explain just how bad his spinal (?) injury is, or why he went into a coma, and so on.

    If he's awake and fully healed by Ep VIII, will that affect his role as the "audience character", if such a character is even required after reintroducing the audience back to the Star Wars universe in TFA? Also, how will his injury/recovery be defined/explained? Or is it just a nasty cut that sent his body into shock, with no resounding consequences on him later on after a dip in a bacta tank?

    Sorry if this is all a bit muddled, I'm just spurting out thoughts and queries (which I'll be doing for the next 500 days) :p

    That's a great angle.. if things don't pick up exactly where they left off after TFA, having us (through Finn) be filled in after he recovers is an interesting possibility! Like most of us, I'd like to hear what those first words between Luke and Rey on top of that mountain were, but I'm sure they'll find a way to let us in the loop.

    The funny thing is that, even if Finn is force sensitive, he'll have no time to train before Ep. 8. First he has to wake up, and then he'll have to go through an extensive rehabilitation, I'd imagine. If Kylo obliterated his spine, he'll need a totally new one.

    Finn isn't Force sensitive. Not even a little bit. Finn has held Luke's sabre and he didn't experience any flashback or insight and hasn't displayed any kind of Jedi trait. ;)

    Why would he have a flashback or any insight? Luke didn't experience any of these things when he took the lightsaber...and it belonged to his dad!

    If VIII starts right where TFA leaves off then he will wake up on screen. If there is any sorry if time gap between the movies he will wake up off screen.

    He will awaken like Adrian in Rocky 2 and say to Rey before her rematch to Kylo, "I want you to do me one thing.....Win!". And then Luke will say, "Well what are we waiting for!!!!". Cue the Rocky music while Rey is jogging on Skelling Island...

    Then the bashers will complain, " Episode 8 is a remake of Rocky 2!"

    Time will pass between movies, so I think that he will be awake by the time the next movie starts.

    However, since Disney will milk as much money as possible out of this franchise there is a good chance that there will be Animated episodes between the end of this movie and the beginning of the next.

    If that is the case then he will wake up sometime early in these episodes.

    He'll be stood in a corner, covered in a tarp. "It's no use," C-3PO will say, explaining how Finn has been in low-power mode since his battle with Kylo Ren. Until Poe, having fallen to pieces in the absence of his new best friend, gently nuzzles him awake. "Woooo!," Finn will say. "That's one hell of a pilot!"

    Has it been said anywhere that Finn is in a coma? Or was he just sleeping off the injury/Bacta/healing efforts?

    I think he will be awake by the time Episode VIII gets underway, and I agree with what has been said here - I think he and Poe will be going on a mission together. Let's face it - the universe needs more of the buddy cop duo of Finn and Poe.
