HUMOR Where Are My Gosh Dang Leaks?

IIRC, most of the leaks for TFA came through Making Star Wars and MillenniumFalcon.com. MF.com has dried up, and Jason Ward either doesn't have sources that are as fruitful as those he had for TFA, or else has become more hesitant to reveal the information he has.

Also lot of the same people in LFL and associated companies will be working on TLJ as worked on TFA: no doubt they have honed the art of preventing leaks into a science...

 

I'm very glad there is no leaks. Somehow all the leaks for TFA spoiled me the movie too much and I'm very enthusiastic that I will go to see TLJ with absolutely no idea what will happen during the show.

Same here, and I went into TFA with minimal knowledge of leaks - but I know just how accurate they are by having saved a "leaked summary" of the film, which was ~75% accurate, which I read shortly after watching the film a number of times. However, by simply watching the trailers (western and international) and TV spots for the film, I had a very concrete idea of how it was going to go, and all of my predictions for the film, but two (Hux being killed on Starkiller and Rey being revealed as Luke's daughter), came to be true.

I'm happy simply watching the trailers, which seem much more conservative this time around, and BTS reel; of course I'd go see the film regardless, but my life isn't yet busy enough to enable me to go on media blackout (that's the plan for IX).

Also, iirc, Jason's inside folks for TFA were either caught or moved into roles where they would not be open to as much sensitive material as before.

Yep. It's actually what lead me here...

They had spoiled a lot -

Kylo is a Solo.
Kylo kills Han.
No big reunion for the OT cast.
Luke is only in the end of the movie, no dialogue.
Rey is a Solo, the secret sister.

But then, abruptly, they changed course, said she wasn't connected to the families, and all true "spoilers" stopped coming.

It was talked about a lot in the comments there, and they then started deleting comments.

Pretty sure they got told to clam up, and are just fed small tidbits now (porgs! Red guards 2.0!) and concept art to feed crumbs to hardcore fans.

Makes me think - either Rey is a Solo and once they decided to move that reveal out of TFA (as Abrams and others have stated) they wanted that shut down - or - they scrapped it and went with Random Rey halfway through the filming.

Will be fun to see what happens!

A year or so ago, I remember Adam Driver saying that he hoped TLJ (or Episode VIII, as it was only known as back then) didn't have any trailers at all. Obviously that can't happen now (and was never really likely anyway) but it would be cool if we don't get any more, or one more max.

 

I'm very happy with the information we've got and would be perfectly fine if there weren't any more trailers.

 

I remember going back and reading TFA leaks in horror after I saw the film. The fact that things like this get out is very unsettling... Not cool. MSW is running a dirty business. I avoid them, although I check their headlines from time to time to know what's out there and what to watch out for on the web.

 

MakingStarWars was my go to for leaks for TFA, I am not spoiler adverse as spoilers don't bother me, but I do remember that after Harrison Ford's injury and the firing of many employees, many of the fired employees intentionally leaked plot details to who ever would listen as payback to Lucasfilm and Disney.


Jason Ward recently said they had info, but wanted to sit on it.
