I read another forum topic about how Empirior Palpatine's first name is Sheev.
It reminded how Lucas & the producers of TESB had early drafts of the screenplay where Yoda's first name was intended to be: Minch. ;)
Minch Yoda doesn't quite seem right after almost 40 years....
The research got me thinking too of why Lucas is so secretive & selective about the Yoda character or why his background/home world is never explained.
A online article had a story of how a trading card art work was removed on George Lucas direct orders because it displayed a Yoda like creature leading a prayer ceremony with other aliens that looked the same.

It's a stretch to me but wouldn't it be cool if Yoda's race WAS the mysterious force who formed & developed the Jedi Order to fend off the evil Sith?
If Yoda's race could live for nearly a 1000 years it could make sense. It's strange that Lucas & ILM stay so quiet about Yoda. They may be the link to why the Force is so powerful & why Jedi have the beliefs & system they do.

I thought yoda was the last of his species and yaddle was something similar but not exactly the same.

Wookiepedia states that Yaddle is a female version of Yoda's race.
She's a Jedi too but not quite as strong or as experienced as Master Yoda.

Note; there was a different character with only one eye(the other was damaged) with Yoda like ears but pale skin.
He might have been a Jedi too but a different alien.

My theory is this is because Yoda's race isnt sapient, they are wild animals and predators on their homeworld and they have no name.

Only the rare force sensitive individuals of this species are sapient.

Personally, I think what makes Yoda so awesome is that we don't know every mundane detail about him. Having mystery or a mystique about a character is a valuable asset for said character. I'd like to keep it that way and think it would be awful if they did a movie exposing Yodas secrets.

Yeah, but that doesnt mean never ever revealingthe mystery or notactually creating a backstory. Creating something confusing and vague with no logic behind why it is does not constitute an actual mystery. Personally, I dont view Yoda as needing to have secrets... Rather, I view him as simply a great and humble being, probably of humble origins with nothing special about him.

Unfortunatly the prequels and clone wars ruined thisby basically explaining all of his jedi philsophy as not actually being Jedi philosophy, but the philosophy of some dead women and some weird vague force dimension and blah blah blah blah.

I think the same. Yoda's an amazing character, mistery and knowledge fit very well with him.

I always saw him as deformed due to the burden he carried. I always imagined him having to find a great inspiration in himself to ward off the darkside(not the sith directly but a more universal adversary, life). I saw it like he was "forced" into his life, and carried responsibilities no other could handle, and that as it challenged him he had no choice but to weather the change, and the force was his "guiding light" that saved him from losing control and becoming generous, insightful and wise.

If they do an origin story for him they'd better work their booty off!!! He needs an immense story that hinges on his wisdom forming, in order to pan out (or just fall short because he lacked the right backup).

Maybe he tries to save his race from persecution? Maybe they are so underestimated and discriminated against that he has to challenge the ethics of his culture and its oppression?
I really don't want him trained by other jedi, then have them pile on impressive show off attributes.
I want him to be self made and astounding, and have his greatness represented by the words of those he protected. Have him say nothing impressive, have it revealled to you, that he is incredible beyond possibility.

Then he is assisted by jedi, and he slowly folds into that world, due to his fondness for the pleasant and simple things.
Perhaps because he is weary of battle, and would rather go in it with others than alone.

I like the idea of him pre-powers, and him finding strength in his integrity.
I like the idea of powers "growing" in him unusually, and maturing slowly with his resistance against it due to his care for others.
And I like the idea of him eventually putting on his powers, and standing true to become yoda.
