Will you see Episode 7 the first day, or wait and go solo?

Depends a lot on my work schedule and where the heck I happen to be in December.. "Uncertain, the future is."

And truth be told, I would prefer to wait to see it in a 'Cinema Cafe'. I saw Guardians of the Galaxy in one of those.. there's no comparison.

I'll definitely be at the midnight showing! And I don't have a problem with the crowd as you can usually feel the excitement and buzz in the air. Also, with SW fans its really fun because some people get dressed up and make it a SW party. So I really enjoy the opening of a new SW movie with all my extended family.

I was in college when TPM came out and I drove a buddy of mine 1.5 hours to see it at the midnight premier. We were not sure if we would be able to get tickets but the theater was showing it several more times that evening/morning. I remember people cheering for the intro and when R2D2 made his first appearance. The crowd didn't make a big impact on the experience. I think I saw the other two films three or so days after the release.

I am used to seeing movies before noon and paying only $5.00, picking my favorite seat and sharing a quiet theater with only 8% of the possible seats filled. I also don't know what my work schedule will be in December but I might try for this scenario sometime during the first week. IMAX will cost more and the theaters will not be that empty anytime soon but hopefully I can avoid most of the crowd distractions.

I have seen The Two Towers and other movies the night they came out and always seem to be seated by the loudest people in the theater.

When Django Unchained premiered I saw it at 10:30 on Christmas morning and was surprised that the theater was 100% full. One of the bad things about that is if someone decides to get up it takes forever to move back and forth through the isles. I currently live in Columbus, OH and will have numerous options to see the film in IMAX. Unfortunately, with usually only one screen per theater that might be the biggest determining factor of when I am able to see the film.

I will be looking forward to hearing what everyone here at The Cantina has to say about what I expect will be a laudable film!

I'll be seeing the first showing on opening day. In a region as sparsely populated as the one I live in, even the most popular and most anticipated films can only draw a fairly small crowd for any one showing.

Midnight showing. Will miss a day of being a HS senior for this! But it is definitely worth it!

I won't be seeing it first day, and most likely not the opening weekend for that matter. I've made it a point not to go to any opening weekends due to poor experiences in previous attempts.

Not to mention that, being the movie it is, I'm expecting at least quite a few children in the audience. Not to insult any parents or say kids shouldn't be there -- the Star Wars saga has always had a kiddy element to it and it wouldn't be the same without them -- I just have no children of my own and don't want to deal with the huge crowds and have it be full of children.

I'm thinking more of a second or third week screening. Though those fall on holiday weekends so... I know they'll still be packed due to the holiday weekend, but maybe a bit less hectic because a lot of people leave my area to spend time with family.

I was 8 when my dad took me to see Revenge of the Sith at the newest, technologically advanced theater in my area. It was an experience I will never forget, and one that I thoroughly expected to be the last of its kind. With a new Star Wars film, and a new chance to see one on the big screen on the horizon, you bet your astroid I will first in line for the midnight showing.

Trips with dads are always great but to see a star wars movie that is even better it shows the generations never get bored off seeing a movie that has continued on that you both enjoy, no doubt we will see you camped out waiting to buy your ticket.

I was 8 years old too when my father took me to see what now is known as Episode IV, but back in 1977, was simply called Star Wars. It became something of a tradition for he and I to go see all the SW films on opening day when I was just a kid, and then later on the prequels as an adult. Those were some good times I'll never forget.

I know I will buy tickets for 2 viewings but at different days. At least, 5 of us will go together! WOn't be on first few days tho, as much as I am so anxious to see the movie. I never like to stand in line. That goes for food too. Just me.

First day with my wife, if nothing comes in between.
The wait is already hard enough, I don't want to wait longer as necessary.
By the way I only go two times a year to the cinema, I will pre-order my tikets to get good seats.
I want to allow ourselves the best condition to watch the movie as possible.
Big vip seats in the back row and catering.
Goodbye to our hard earned 50€, it's equal to 56,72 u.s. dollars.

Its midnight premiere all the way for me! I want to be in the theater with the biggest bunch of fellow Star Wars fans that I can find...which is partly why I'm organizing an event to do just that. There's just nothing else released from Hollywood that comes close to a Star Wars premiere. The audience reactions, clapping, the anticipation is palpable!

I'll wait until the theatres get more empty, kids can be really annoying. Bah humbug! People in general just don't get engrossed in films like they used to.

I agree with that move, the kids sometimes make a lot of noise etc.

I have already taken off work for the 18. My kids have their first day off for Christmas break. They want to see it on the first day. I plan on taking them to an early morning showing as it will be less crowded than an evening showing.

I'm trying to convince my seven and four year old to go on opening night but will probably go with my wife and then the following weeks, bring the girls :)

Usually, Disney/other tentpole movies get a wide release here at the same time as the U.S., but there is an opening night the day before. In this case on 17th. Considering that a huge multiplex is five minutes away from my home, I'm going on the opening night - alone or with company, it does not matter.

I am sure, I will see it again, maybe even during the following weekend, but it will be the opening night for me. The wait is unbearable, I am already working hard to avoid spoilers, I cannot imagine how hard it would be during that week. This forum will be a madness. XD

I have already requested the 18th off work. I plan on seeing it at the midnight showing, and then, if I deem the content acceptable for my oldest daughter to see (she will be almost 4 at that time) we will be going again latter in the day so she can experience the "first day" of a star wars movie.

She has seen all 6 of the original movies, but when we let her watch ROTS, it was in a controlled atmosphere, and we skipped over the scene of Vader (still looking like Anakin) walking into the room with the younglings and turning on his saber, and we had a discussion about how fire can burns you, and you need to be really carefully around it. Hopefully there will not be anything in TFA that she will not be able to handle. She is very advanced for her age (her pediatrician says she is mentally on the level of a 5-6 year old, even though she is only 3), so I am optimistic that she will be able to handle it.

This will be the only movie that I will actually go see the Midnight premier. My kids, cousins, friends, and I all plan on dressing up in costume for this one! I missed the hype on the Phantom Menace, which I did see in theatres just not on opening night. I plan on seeing this multiple times.
