I had a talk with my friends the other day about who our top 4 fictional heroes in any medium. It was really fun conversation and I thought I would extend it to you guys. It can anyone from a comic, book, animated show, manga, anime, movie. It can be that really cool lead, the heroic side character, that villain who eventually turns hero. Anything. Post gifs, pictures, and explain why this hero is awesome if you feel so inclined!

Also add what franchise they are from. May want to check some of the stuff out.

So who is your Top 4 heroes?

    Korra "The Legend of Korra"
I love the Avatar series and it is home to some of my favorite characters but none make me feel more feelings than Korra.

Rey "The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy"
Really connect with Rey in a way I have not with previous Star Wars characters. Watching her overcome not only the evil First Order but also her feelings of loneliness and low self worth has been amazing.

    Dalinar Kholin "The Stormlight Archive"

My favorite character from my favorite book series. I can not go into what makes him so cool without spoiling the books for those who have not read it (READ IT NOW!) I will say he is something called a "Shardbearer" and I think they are cooler than Jedi Knights.

Boromir "The Lord of the Rings"

First character death that really hit me hard as a kid. Getting older has only made me appreciate his character more. He was a cool character in the books but the movies really did it better as heretical as that statement sounds.

    Okay, top 4... That's a difficult decision.

    VEGETA (Dragonball Universe)

I'm following the Dragonball series since my childhood and Vegeta was always my favorite character. His journey from a cold-blooded and gruesome villain to a "for his family caring" and proud (anti) hero is just great!

    LUKE SKYWALKER (Star Wars)

Luke is THE definition of "the hero's journey". An insecure and lonely farmboy becomes a sparkling hero with alot of friends and allies. Every kid should look up to Luke.

    SPIDER-MAN (Marvel Universe)

"With great power comes great responsibility." Peter Parker is an ordinary boy who struggles with his life like we all do. He's relatable to everyone.

    ELLIE (The Last Of Us)

Ellie is a female character done right. Ellie is a young and cheerful girl thrown in a dark and dangerous world. She makes it easy to relate to her and to her relationship with Joel (the player's character).

I loved the Last of Us. Had a surprisingly good multiplayer. I never watched Dragon Ball Z as a kid so I guess I have missed the boat on that at this point.

what a great idea for a thread.. and omg how difficult is it to pick 4? lol

not one bit happy that the bucket head above me stole Batman & Joker grrrr ! :p

Ripley has to get in my list..

This movie had me physically sobbing, and i've never been able to watch it again.. but i have to include Andrew Becket from Philadelphia.

and this guy.. on and off the screen.

edit: i took out Luke - as i thought of a movie hero that epitomizes being knocked down and getting back up, and another movie that i'd struggle to watch again.. Murder in the first.
Henry Young - played by Kevin Bacon.

if IX goes the way i hope.. i'll be wanting to ditch one of mine and stick Ben in lol.

    Great thread! Here we go!

    1. Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks

In the original series, he's absolutely indefatigable and full of joy, even when searching into the darkest mysteries. He's the archetypical knight. And he loves coffee. Then Season 3 goes to such interesting places with his character and challenges our conception of the hero. Just one of the best.

    2. Hazel from Watership Down

I love this character's journey. He starts as a regular rabbit and turns into a true leader. If you've never read Watership Down, do yourself a favor and dive in.

    3. Spider-Man

Unoriginal I know, but I love this character. As a kid, I could relate to the '90's cartoon. As a teenager, I could relate to Ultimate Spider-Man. And now I can relate to the main comics.

    4. Odysseus, from The Odyssey

Going classical with this one. Such a great mythic figure, crafty and brilliant, determined and faithful. It's been awhile since I've read this but I need to dive back in.

Great call with Boromir! Definitely one of my favorite heroes in LotR- something about his tragic character just really fascinates me. He (and Batman and Luke) would probably all be on my list, but I'll try and shake it up a bit.

    1. Haytham Kenway, Assassin's Creed III- less of a "villain that turns hero", and more of an "anti-hero that dies a villain". I really like how the nuance in his character helped.

    2. Kratos, God of War (2018)- I never really liked the hack 'n slash and rage of the first GOW games, but Kratos in the new game is such a deep and layered character. I'd give anything to be able to experience this game for the first time again.

    3. Arthur Morgan, Red Dead Redemption II- I just started playing this game recently, but I'm already sold on Arthur's character. His gruff demeanor and "hillbilly voice" were really off putting to me at first, but that's all the more impressive in how he's won me over as not just a badass, but a truly well fleshed out character.

    4. The Ulthar Cat, my current D&D campaign- Maybe silly to include him on this list, but I'm honestly more invested in his story than most other fictional characters right now. So I just started playing D&D for the first time last year, and the Ulthar Cat is my first ever character. He's a gnome warlock and former failed vigilante (thus why no one knows his real name) with a pretty interesting back story. He's a bit of a psychopath (and SO fun to get into character, especially after a bit of vodka to loosen up) but I'm like actually invested in his story. We had a close call a few months ago with a dragon fight and we all nearly died, which prompted me to start working on other characters, because if I lose The Cat I want to have a worthy replacement for him.

I was so close to putting Ezio in my top 4. He is one of those rare characters that you follow from literally birth to death and I loved him so much. I hate what has become of the franchise. Anyway this cinematic always hit me in the feels with the Ezio monologue and the visions of the past. I want something like this in Star Wars.

Definitely one of my favorite trailers of all time, for sure!

I enjoyed Odyssey well enough, but I would like to see a return to form in the franchise soon, for sure.

    Now THAT's a cool idea.

I have a lot of them but if I had to choose, well, I'm a Star Wars/DCEU fanboy, so.....

    1. The Batman:

I LOVE Kevin Conroy (Batman The Animated Series and the Arkham games) but Ben Affleck gave me everything I've ever wanted in my favourite superhero (it's not for everybody though).

    2. Luke Skywalker:

The man. The myth. The legend. Mark Hamill is like, the best person ever. My true hero. (I wish Rian didn't kill him :()

    3. Obi Wan Kenobi:

A fine addition to my TOP.

    4. Superman:

I love Cristopher, but Man of Steel means the whole world to me.

I have to mention Han Solo and Spider-Man (Toby and PS4) by the way. Definetly in the top. :)

    Hard to pick only 4.

Luke Skywalker - Wanted to be him when I was kid. Seen ROTJ first and made me love the character

Thor - If I was a God it would be him and I read mostly Thor comics growing up.

Neo - I loved the first matrix more than the others and had greater impact and pretty relatable in ways, Made me think about things in a different light after the first time I seen it. So much layers.

John McLain - A cop who you wish you could be. He's flawed but balls of steel. Love that movie and his character.
