This episode SHOULD HAVE LAST 60 MINUTES!
Barely are 37 minutes of screetime, and there is a lot going on!!

But I understand the episode was basically centered in the scape with little other (great) scene events and revelations (confirmed the spoiler I read 3 weeks ago from the imperial officer, something that someone figured it out, i don't know why, based on trailers)

We were expecting a way out, and we got it!
5-10 more minutes of fighting and escaping and deaths and swimming would have been nice.
A little more on Ferrix and Mon Mothma too.
Yes, it feels incredibly short but I as said I understand the importance of the events explained and the tension was superb without any doubt. The screetime feels all very calculated.

To make Andor more cruel I would have killed the last 2 guards of the central room too.

The shot of the episode? Those Imperial guards hide in a room! Pure gold! Brutal!

    Need another wednesday!!

We may see him again in the next couple of episodes, but if not, I like that we don’t know what happened to Kino. Leaving it open for his return at some point in the future.

Initially I felt a bit cheated - the runtime, the lack of detail in their escape, Kino's inability to lead (or swim), it all seemed rushed. I loved the compromising position Mon is put in, and yes, the collection of TV spots confirmed the mole's identity.

We know nothing about Narkina 5 so I cannot figure out how they get off the planet. That says nothing for the hundreds or thousands who could have escaped. I need to watch it again after I get some sleep.

I have to agree on this. Felt incredibly short.
The scape was good? Absolutely. But more struggle, more fight inside, more deaths, more swim and despair to reach land.

At the end am glad Melshi is with Andor. He deserved more screentime in this episode. I guess this means we will see more of him.

that was hilarious, for the record, I didn't find a problem with the run-time/screen-time, but hey, films are indeed, subjective...

    A few thoughts-

It did feel short, and I was a bit skeptical that swimming was a good plan. Glad they (at least two of them, at least) made it to a beach, but perhaps the Empire would've benefitted from putting this prison on a planet totally covered by water, or at least further in the ocean?

Regardless, this is how you do a prison escape in Star Wars. Make it matter. Keep the character in there for a while. So often, we get prison breaks when the prisoner is rescued after being in their cell for about 30 seconds of screentime, and the only defenses they have to worry about are inept guards with guns. This feels far superior to any other prison escape we've seen in the series... Leia's from the DSI included.

Man, Luthen's monologue about his sacrifices for the early Rebellion was pretty darn good, and I think Skarsgaard delivered it perfectly. But anyone else find his appearance (both clothing, positioning on screen, and even the location itself) a bit reminiscent of Vader at Bespin?

It felt far shorter than it even was... Great buildup for the final two. I'm glad the Supervisor Young issue is in the clear, it felt very spoiler-ish even though it was in the trailer. Skarsgård is amazing! I've gotta rewatch to soak it all in since I watched it at 3am.

    Ep. 10 -- One Way Out (10/10)
Short, sharp, sweet, dramatic, and inspiring.
And the scene between Lonni and Luthan at the end? Magical… Magnificent… Superb…

IMHO, that would've been entirely superfluous. 5 minutes of running around and fighting and stuff? No thank you :p

To echo @cawatrooper, this is the best prison escape we've had in Star Wars, and we have had a few. :D

True. Stellan is a Scandinavian treasure, one of the greats who've been around for so long and played in so many small and large things up here. We love him so :) He's one of several very good Swedish actors, and of the Nordic countries, the Swedes definitely have the best ones, at least among the well-known big-shots ('cause most great ones never get to make it big for some reason). But yeah, Stellan is great. Can't wait to see him in Dune Part 2 next November, too <3

I looked at the length of the episode and was disappointed to see it wasn't 60 minutes or more. Then, as MBWilson and others have mentioned, it felt super-short -- which means it was damn good. :)
I've always enjoyed Skarsgaard's work but he's been magnificent in this role.

Given the set-up, I could see the world Gilroy built becoming a six or seven season "Game of Thrones"-ish look at the beginnings of the rebellion. But my understanding is that the series was written as a two-season story arc. But let me throw out another option: a spin-off series entitled, "Axis."

As a prison guard/jail guard, I like the term Correction Officer much better. this episode resonated with me the most. One guard watching 50 to 90 inmates, wondering will they try? So you must gain their respect, everyday I walk through those prison bars and gates wondering will this be the day? so many Kino Loys, or rather Cassian Andors, amongst the inmate population (BIG-HOMIES they are called in reality), when will they rise? Tony Gilroy is a master storyteller, I was at the edge of my seat at 3am this morning... the runtime was perfect.

I'd actually be down for that.

I've also heard that S2 will lead directly into Rogue One (which obviously won't leave any room for Cassian afterward), but a show focusing on Coruscant could be fascinating.

Remember, if we follow that timeline, we'd see Coruscant's perspective on the Battle of Scarif, the destruction of the first Death Star, and possibly beyond all through the Galactic Civil War... quite likely even giving us new battle scenes all across the galaxy.

I think Cassian's presence has been good so far, but I think this type of Star Wars content could definitely outlive him through R1.

I loved the development with Mon’s daughter. So THAT’S why we were establishing the domestic discontent. Mon’s own arranged marriage. Her strained relationship with her husband and the daughter who favors him. She’s being forced to choose between loyalty to the Rebellion - subjecting her own daughter to that same loss of personal choice - and loyalty to her daughter. A daughter who will likely villainize her mother further for it. Chef’s kiss.

I also loved the visual metaphor of that aerial shot above the prison. Shaping the facility like the Imperial logo and then showing the prisoners as tiny specs desperately scrambling from it for their freedom. Gorgeous.

I liked the touch of having Kino’s inspirational words being taken directly from Cassian just like Jyn’s line in R1, “rebellions are built on hope.” That was fun.

To me the length of the episode was cool and maybe mostly because of how well made the Andor was so far.
No useless shots in this series and everything serves purpose.
Only thing I was missing was a reaction from Empire to the prison breakout, as that must be something unprecedented for them,
same as the small scale heist on Aldhani, but well, we won't have a cliffhanger otherwise.

Just wow, I really love the series a lot for what it is. And one of the few shows in past years, that really handles cliffhangers so well!
Usually, you can feel episode ending minutes from it actually ending, be it music gradation creating tension before the credits roll, but here it creates the sense of getting conlusion next week and really wanting more!

On the series itself, the plan was crazy and full of luck and coincidence and even tho, I felt more stress for the heroes in Episode 6, these world and tension building three episode arcs really pay off in the end. Sure, there is ton of great shows out there, but this show is one of the best I have seen and not just because of Star Wars logo at the beginning.

We knew before that Mon Mothma definitely isn't the happiest person in the galaxy and with a tough volunteering job of leading rebel alliance, but man, I really feel for her, as usually, in other media and a movie, she is this character with saint and majestic aura. But here we see her as a real tragic person.
And the contrast of her versus Luthen and his speech on what he has lost. These people are fighting for the same cause, but world apart.
Luthen basically admitting, that he is no better than the Empire and their methods.

Bix surprised me with being alive and well after the horror she lived through... I am looking forward to seeing the finale starting next week!
I wonder what Empire's response to the escape will be and how will Cassian get out of that planet.
I can see him clashing with Luthen along the way.

I really love the format. I was expeting it to be more episodic format, with the three arc being intro and then Cassian just doing some small tasks for Luthen and some dirty jobs for the proto alliance, but this is one of the rare instances where the creators were telling the truth and not overhyping the show with empty promises like with Boba Fett. We really see a huge story arc of Cassian playing out and if they continue like this into Season 2 and that will mesh into the Rogue One movie, it has potential to be my most favorite Disney era Star Wars series!

Give Stellan Skarsgard all the awards. That scene with Lonni was masterful.

RIP Kino Loy, you must have grown up on a desert planet. ;)

Mon Mothma thinking about doing to her daughter what was done to her to help the cause? Child marriages in Star Wars. Bone chilling.

Still, this is the first episode that gave me feeling of hope, that escape was a bright spot in otherwise joyless show. It might be strange thing to say about the show that I don't like, but this might be my favorite episode.

I know I know. The excitement of the moment XD
The show is so good that every chapter I don't want them to end!

I agree the runtime is very calculated but it felt so short! For me, few seconds here and there, just to enlarge (just briefly) some setpieces, would have been nice (a couple of more corridors, a swim little scene or climbing to land). I guess is a personal problem cause I could watch hours and hours of this masterpiece.

Some things are still in the air. Kino's fate, what happened to Brix (with a briefly appearance without a context), Mothma next step, rebel pilot thing.

    Absolutely sublime!
I didn't new from the trailers just from a spoiler days ago. But the scene is so natural, so human, so well written, so well acted (from both!), so well filmed, that I just can feel so great and happy. Dialogs are just perfect.

The best thing, I was spoiled about Kino Loy's death by Andy Serkis! I watched an interview with him a couple of days ago and he spoke about how his character changes and finally makes sacrifice. I was like, Andy, my man, curb your enthusiasm, lol. Although his death was predictable, it still sucked that I spend an episode waiting for his death. :D

With that many fellow inmates in the water, he would have been helped to shore no problem. we just didn't get to see that part of the story.
