Yeah, but don't hold it just against him. How many have sat in the seat that isn't his? Kevin Smith, Simon Pegg, Daniel Radcliffe. They all had set visits and were probably afforded the same treatment.

 

Just seeing these figures makes me go way back! Just going to visit my parents and find some boxes where I might find some old stuff!!

My theory has been:

Luke is in captivity for years and is going to be used as a trophy to lure the grave robber to the dark side.

Now it seems Luke will be in captivity to lure Ridley to the dark side?

In order for Luke to be imprisoned, there would have to be a villain(s) or person(s) behind his captivity.

 

Or perhaps Luke had found the Dark Knight after years of searching for him and Ridley (possibly his daughter who was not killed in this 'tragedy') is revealed to him?

 

Newbie here.I consider myself to be a casual star wars fan.Which would mean I have seen all the star wars movies,but have not read any other material or watched the cartoon clone wars.

I have really no theory since I feel so confused with all of the rumors and snippets of info.But I have some thoughts.
One of them is that I have no problem in seeing Luke have some form of conflict in him and that his supposed personal victory of not falling to the dark side is really not over,but a still going on process which may affect him.I base this on what Yoda for instance said to him...

"Remember, a Jedi's strength flows from the Force. But beware. Anger, fear, aggression. The dark side are they. Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny."

If my memory serves me right Luke lost if for a short while when he stood in front of Darth Sidious...

"Strike me down with all of your hatred and your journey towards the dark side will be complete!"

Also Lukes encounter in that dark cave where he sees his own face in the vader mask.

Luke is lashing out in a aggressive attack on the emperor and then goes on pummeling his dad,until he came back to his senses after cutting of his dads hand.

Well what if Lukes journey force wise speaking is not over yet? Luke never was composed like Obi,but in my view actually shares many traits with his dad.
Yoda was very reluctant to train him,maybe seeing a risk of him ending up like his dad.

Now I do not think Luke has the aspirations to become or go full Sith Lord like his dad had who had the ambition to rule the galaxy.What if Luke in his quest to bring peace to the galaxy (after years of fighting and he is starting to get old and tired of it) his methods starts to become blurred because to make an omelet you will have to break some eggs.What if breaking these eggs puts him in conflict with old friends and maybe even his sister? They come to view and perceive Luke to have gone dark side and become like his father.It could also involve their children to take sides.Brother against sister.Maybe Luke does not even align himself with any of the sides in the conflict but in fact he and maybe the posse he is building up.Becomes like a third side who goes against empire,sith,the republic and maybe even jedi wannabe posers who act more like dark jedis and use their force abilities to their own needs and ambition for power)

What if Luke managed to save the galaxy from that terrible weapon happens early in the movie and he did it in a bad way,so that everybody are considering him to be well evil.The empire and whatever is left of the sith are pissed at him for destroying the weapon that could give them victory.Same with the republican side.What if in that process Luke got also badly injured?He get´s patched up in some way and goes into hiding,conflicted by his inner demons yet determined to do what he can to bring peace to the galaxy even if that means to crush both sides.So in a way Luke becomes like Darth Revan,without him being Revan or a sith lord.Per se not evil but wishing and doing what he considers to be well and required.

Awesome... note JJ said he used it for one action scene. We know the camera was in Abu Dhabi so what is the action scene? Do we get our first lightsaber battle here? A chase scene?

 

Something just struck me... I think we'll be hitting the ground running.... An instant please-forget-the-prequels-Star-Wars-is-back moment which mirrors the crash bang lets-do-this opening of Episode IV... I think we need to see a creative and scary as hell villain ASAP like Vader's very first appearance. None of this wait around for the secret villain nonsense. (There will be a secret villain, but not in a true sense, we just won't see him/her/it just yet, will hear the underling talking to their master is all.)

My best guess: Either Gwendoline hunting Boyega on her super star destroyer as he tries to mutiny for reasons explained in opening crawl... Or and here's where your theory could be awesome... Opening crawl gets at Luke's disappearance... and We kickstart with Luke (crowd goes ape blast clapping on cue) then zoom out and realize he's trapped worse than the wampa cave... And we're all 'wait he's the greatest jedi knight ever?!' Wrong. Reveal the fear-inducing, kick-ass villain of 7, not the trilogy's biggest baddie just yet.

I'm thinking the rumored forest planet scene with some enormous plant based monsters snacking on stormtroopers. Show Avatar how it's done

 

But Abu Dhabi is the desert... so while that'd be cool it doesn't work.
