it doesn't say that she is ONLY doing mo cap work.

whilst it could mean that we won't see her directly (which i doubt).. it could mean umpteen different things. as per usual..its a bit of gossip that's very open ended.

could even mean that she is playing Ventress - which might require the services of Andy Serkis depending on the characters condition (if she's even alive yet alone in the film).

could be that she starts the film as one thing... and becomes something... else?

nice bit of news though :)

This may be a silly question, but how do you do motion capture without GCI?

Gotta say I just re-watched that in the last year and it didn't hold up for me IMO. Didn't enjoy it like I did when I was a kid.

Nothing holds up to nostalgia... when I was a kid, I watched StarBlazers... I saw a video on the shelf of BlockBuster once and I thought, "gotta get this, it was freakin great"

Got it home, popped it in, and was amazed at how what I was watching didn't hold up to the memory of what I watched...

True... I think the OT was just fine before the Special Edition... still prefer it that way...

I was (and thought we were) talking about animation

I was just talking about in general, but you're right when it comes to animation & cartoons I grew up with they mostly don't hold up.

Oh man, I thought I was the only one! That was such a cool show back in 1980-something.

Watching it now, even through beer-goggles, is painful.

I'm hesitant to say Lupita is portraying an alien through mo cap or something like that because I still have a lot of faith in the rumored stolen pictures, and it just makes so much sense that she's a politician (in my mind at least).

Stuff like Ventress is just wishful thinking, and besides that woman would be kind of ancient. Also Nightsisters, like Mandalorians, are more flavoring then the main dish of Star Wars.

So Cumberbatch said nothing, other than he had been to the set and was more involved than people thought, then refused to comment...

And out of his entire interview, this makes the tagline...

The media is desperate to put anything SW in the tag to get attention, and it worked, we all went there to see that nothing really was there...

I checked a couple other links to this

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/benedict-cumberbatch-rumoured-star-wars-4497537
    http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-e...probably-shouldnt-be-saying-this-9815770.html

These basically say the same things, although your link says, "that he’s been closer to the project than everybody might think" while the others simply mention he was at the set... hope the mere fact that he has been to the set isn't what the first article means by, "closer than we think"...

Well, IF this were true, I'd expect to READ some MAJOR gloating coming from the Latino Review shortly since they stated wayyyy back in last 2012 I believe that BC was indeed in the film (in a small capacity) as a Sith Lord and that his role would expand in 8 & 9.

I watched that interview on TV, BC said he sat in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon on his visit to the set!

Gggrrrrrrrrr to Cumberbatch that is not your seat to be sat in!

I love this actor but hate him at the same time, I think its down to over exposure...
