And to be honest, even before Legends came out - I didnt buy the whole ''happy ending'' story.

 

Can I ask if your info tells us anything about Yavin being in the movie? Jason at MSW seems fairly convinced that Maz's castle is on Yavin but the more I see of the set the more I'm struggling with this. My guess is that the concept art below is her castle. Any thoughts??

 

I think for the fight against Kylo to make sense at least one of them has to be trained already and my bet is Rey so far.

 

I think that's the Evil Castle, Not Maz's Castle.

It has sense that hers castle is in Yavin. For me Maz Kanata is a "Tia Dalma" kind of character if someone saw The Pirates of the Caribbean, of course.... She's more like hided, and surrounded by pirates... That can't be her castle..

 

I don't think Rey has been formally trained any more than Anakin or Luke were when were introduced to them on their desert planets. Those characters already had different skills that they brought to the table before being taken on by a master.

Yeah, a "pirate witch" might be what Maz is.

 

I think you may be right about Maz being like the 'Tia Dalma' character, but I REALLY hope you are wrong. It's such a cliche.

Have we got any evidence there is an 'Evil Castle'? What would the Falcon be doing there?

 

Rey having a double-bladed lightsaber would be a nice nod to Shan family from Legends, therefore its unlikely to happen.

 

The lightsaber is just the MacGuffin. She "returns" the lightsaber because she has come to the realization that she wants to be trained and save the galaxy from the evil that is coming. The only way to do that is to find Luke. And the best way to say hello, is to return a long-lost item of his.

I mean you wouldnt NOT return it to him if you had it and needed to see him, right?

The saber is just a prop piece that follows the real storyline of the characters development. I dont think it will be much more than that.

I think finding Luke isnt the central plot, it is the climax.

The plot is going to be the development of Rey and Finn into a characters that want to make difference in a war torn galaxy. The movie is about them starting on their individual destinies.

Rey can only do this by finding Luke. She is only beginning to realize her importance. Training with Luke is a necessary component to her realizing her full potential. Gives a great segway into VIII, she will be a full padawan and will have her next great moment. IX she is full Jedi bad ass.

 

There is no evil castle, in the strictest sense of the word, that was a persistant misunderstanding - "Evil Castle" was simply the production code name for this:


Think of it more as a base or fortress where the superweapon is controlled or perhaps located.

The concept art with the Falcon outside a castle is an early version of what we now know is Maz's Castle, and we now know looks more like this:

 

I agree that the scene described by MSW would be the final climatic moment of 'his' film. It could be a finale if done right, but ultimately for me, and some others skulking around this forum, a limp climatic surprise. My own fault for being a spoiler junky. I hope JJ has some other cards up his sleeve, but I think he, Kasdan and buddy Grunberg had enough on their hands trying to explain the re-appearance of the Bespin saber from their drunken camping trip musings.

 

Pretty much agree but I think:

• Captain Phasma is standing outside of Maz's castle after the attack (note there's no snow).
• Kylo Ren is outside the First Order Bunker. This is the one that Han, Chewie, Finn & BB-8 destroy (note there is snow)

I'm not sure if these 2 locations are on the same planet or not. One has snow and the other doesn't. It could be we are seeing a planet with different habitats. It could be it's the same planet and it just starts snowing. I just don't see either of these locations as Yavin.

 

In the Captain Phasma photo, while there's no visible snow, there's no leaves on the tree in the background, indicating winter or snow...

Any chance we will be getting additional concept art leaks or descriptions in the near future? Those can be more fun to talk about - leaves more to the imagination. Come on folks, somebody is holding

 

This is the problem with sequels in general. People don't have any ideas going into the first film. But everyone has a "picture" of what should or is going to happen in the sequels. It leads to disappointment.

This is why many people will be upset about the Sequel Trilogies, but like the Anthologies.
