Luke's screen time theory

Oh my, so Damion was right about me! Oh gosh! .

 

As some may remember, I really believed we were being mislead about Luke's screen time. After seeing the film, I see how wrong I was, and why. I assumed these new characters needed Luke in order to successfully begin their journey...but the truth is, these new characters are wonderful, and I already love them. JJ, as I knew he wouldn't, did not disappoint me. On 1030, I said he was the man, and 3 years and two months later, I stand by that. He absolutely knocked it out of the park. This was the film I was waiting for, and it couldn't have been better. And I can't wait to see the return of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode VIII,and the next step in Rey, Finn, and Poe's journeys.

 

Lots of Luke in episode 8. I promise.

 

Lots of Han in episode 8, I promise.

I'm actually glad he was put at the very end. It's a payoff for what the overall story is for TFA and it makes me even more excited for Episode VIII.

 

Lol I know, maybe he caught onto a speeder while falling like Mace Windu did .

 

I really wanted Luke in the movie more before I saw it. Now I think it was perfectly done. This was the movie to say hi to the new guys but more importantly it was a tribute to Han solo. It was a fitting end to Han our favorite smuggler, touching, poignant and well acted. Having Luke in the movie more would have taken away from Hans story and from that moment.

 

Hamill did try to warn people about his cameo. If you go back and see his words about the matter over the past year...

now we now luke´s screentime & why it makes sense

 

i beilived from the beginnig that this will be HAN´s movie (& i have a funny feeling this is not the last we have heard from him) & that ep.8 will be LUKE´s movie (emerging like a YODA-type figure) & the last movie will be LEIA´s (we know so little about her compared to Luke) & she has not been trained as a jedi yet, who knows what she will do if that happens, or possibly turning 180 because of all that has & will happen

While this would be kind of ridiculous, it actually would be an extremely clever payoff for the blaster bolt trickery at the very beginning, which establishes Kylo's great power over telekinetic Force use (which is apparently his main talent, considering how bad he sucks at lightsabers, lol).

 

THX ! you are the first one to think as i did in the theater (well, out loud anyway) & I am involved in a really heated debate about Kylo´s redemption in a another thread since he "killed" his father.... My very first thought was: this is not the last we have seen of Han,,,, the subtle facial expressions in Kylo´s conflict (or possible deception a´la snape kills dumbledore) & Han´s expression that he KNOWS (most obvious: he could not let, go, I am done for&the more subtle: i need to trust him) we will just have to wait & see, but i will not be surprised if Han turns up again, probably late, making us beilive he is gone & putting focus on Luke&Leia

this was slightly off topic about Luke screentime, but i get a feeling that ol´Luke might be so powerfull he can do something for his old pal if Kylo saves him eases his wounds/fall. Could be wishful thinking, but are so many small details in that scene that all bets are off, everything is possible including han coming back from another "hibernation"

 

why would she publicly confirm Han dies? as thats what shed be implying by not saying everyone comes back. i dont think you can look too far into that statement.
