100% Agree \m/ I want to take my then 8 year old daughter to see Ep. 7 so maybe she can have the same experience I did with the OT.

And had there been a PG-13 rating during the OT, how many of us would have missed out on the OT as kids? IMO Disney has to much riding on Ep. 7 TFA to gamble with the loss of hundreds of thousands of children not being able to see the film. PG is the rating they are gonna target.

Lol, I just talked about this with a few Star Wars fans in a Facebook group. I don't know, but I expected the movie to be PG. But Avengers was going to be PG 18 because of that scene when Loki stuck the tesseract in the heart of Coulson.

TPM and AOTC were the most graphic pg movies ever. If the ST is allowed the same lenience then I'm fine with them being pg.

    I am hoping for PG13.

I can understand parents wanting to be able to take their younger children to see this film. If it in any way inhibits the story, though, there is absolutely no reason for a PG rating. Your children will appreciate the fact that they had to wait a few years to see a better overall story, I would think. I understand our target audience here is relatively young people, but I can't imagine them having done ROTS in PG and still told the story the way that it needed to be told.

In the US it's G = General Audiences, PG = Parental Guidance, PG-13 = Parental Guidance under 13, R = Restricted to those over 17 unless with parent, NC-17 = No one admitted under 17 period.

note: unlike R and NC-17 rated films no one under 13 is prohibited to see a pg-13 film alone it is used only as a caution

Disney has the clout to get whatever rating they want for Star Wars. The question is what rating they want.

The famous line by Jack Valenti has been proven wrong time and again. Ratings can and will be tied directly to the success of a film, especially a family film like Star Wars

Sincerely, I think they are not aiming to G or even PG. My prediction is PG, but I am pretty sure JJ and Co is willing to give us the best Star Wars movie as possible. PG-13 is acceptable. There will be NO Star Wars R-Rated movie :) That's a safe bet.

The standards for rating movies now is not as lenient as it was in the 1970s-80s. PG back then is PG-13 now

The reason they started the PG-13 rating was the microwave scene in Gremlins and the heart removal scene in Temple of Doom. ROTS was rated PG-13 because of the triple amputation and setting on fire of Anakin. I don't expect anything that graphic from The Force Awakens. I don't see why this movie won't be PG.

Oh they're around all the time (see Nymphomania and Blue is the Warmest Color) but they never get marketed, it's taboo

As far as the ratings go -- there was a time when the original laser discs and VHS of the OT were rated G. Kid you not.

As far as the ST ratings go I believe they will be PG-13. In fact most of JJ's work is PG-13 and I have no reason to believe this will be any different.

    NC-17 was in that list.
