I thought we could us a thread to discuss some spoiler specific stuff. So if you want to avoid spoilers now is your time to leave.

My biggest question is about Cad Bad. Where are they going with this character. I was so happy to see him again and I'm curious how long he can live or if he's gonna meet his end soon. [SPOILERS]

As of right now, we have no idea where we’re going with Cad Bane’s character. It was previously assumed that he was dead by this point in the timeline, because an unproduced Clone Wars arc would have shown Cad training a young Boba Fett and ultimately losing to him in a Western standoff. This would’ve shown how Boba got the dent in his helmet and how he took over from Cad Bane as “the best bounty hunter in the galaxy”.

Now we’re unsure if that duel ended up taking place in-canon but in The Bad Batch, Bane does have a metal plate on his head that wasn’t there the last time we saw him, which could suggest that he’s already had his fight with Boba. The camera lingered on it for a few seconds when he lost his hat in one scene which could be evidence towards that.

    upload_2021-7-13_20-30-45.jpeg

A lot of people are speculating that we can see their standoff either in this series, The Book of Boba Fett or its own thing entirely, but as of right now, we’re in uncharted territory for Cad Bane.

I have a theory that the Book o Boba Fett might bounce around the time line so I wouldn't be surprised that the Cad Bane/Fett dual may end up being an episode at some point.

Here we go, Season 3 is LIVE

Well, now! I have got to watch that again, but immediate reaction is that was an amazing episode. For a 35 minute episode, not a single second was wasted. Well worth the wait. I surely did not expect for so much setup in the first episode, and it is definitely gonna be a wild ride. So many good little moments, but the absolute WTF moment for me had to be... Purgils!! Wow.

    Mando is back!

    Just have seen it.
Incredible how much happens in barely 30 minutes. I knew it would set the direction of the season and it does very well with a fast rhythm. The chapter has a little of everything. Mandalorians, creatures, droids, worldbuilding, space battle and ships, old characters, explanation for others, new planets, more mando and grogu growing relationship...

Started cheesy. I had BOBF vibes with those fan mandalore clean helmets and suits on that little beach but thanks the well action creature scene just after that all changed.
I like the evolution of Nevaro.
I guess those lightspeed creatures are the same from Rebels if I remember well. That was very beautiful.
Not sure to recover IG and being part of the main story with plenty of droids out there but I guess is fine. Liked the scene when he wakes up like a living horror monster without legs.
I needed some space battle. Loved it, the ships, direction and editing.

    Great illustrations as always.

    Can't wait for more surprises!

I missed this show so, so much. They packed so much in 30+ minutes. The Mandalorian induction, the monster, space fight, purrgil in the hyperlane, Navarro, it had all, the whimsy, the cheesy, the cool. The music cues gave me the goosebumps. I loved it. Now we wait for second episode.

    BAD BABY!

great episode! and great to be back

I get the feeling with the purrgil that Grogu will be the key to showing Ahsoka how to find Ezra

It's been a long time since I laughed out loud in a show and the Babu Frick guy calling Grogu "Bad Baby" for hugging him did it. I can't help it, it was too freaking cute. And to be clear, yes, I wanted to get in there and hug them both, OK? Greef kneeling on the ground and yelling through the hole to repeat all the perfectly understandable Basic stuff to Din was pretty darn funny too.

    P.S. No squeezie.

    Wow! Beautiful chapter!

First off I gotta say that Grogu using the force to spin himself around in the office chair and float what looked like Nevarroian M&Ms to himself was hilarious.

The score during the hyperspace purrgil scene was awesome and appropriately magestic.

Greef Karga with his new cloak as Magistrate.......oh EXCUUUSE ME......."HIGH" Magistrate, lol :D of Nevarro definitely put me in the mind of Lando Calirissian in his cape as the administrator of Cloud City and I thought that was a cool throw back to star wars nostalgia.

The IG-11 "terminate the asset" scene was creepy cool just like the one armed terminator scene in the original Terminator movie.

Overall this episode simply rocked. The fact that it was so jam packed was just fine with me due to it being so well written. The pace was fast but it flowed so well. This show is sooooo star wars because it has the star-wars vibe down pat and for myself, that's what makes star wars star wars. It's definitely all about the vibe.

    Where's next Wednesday already?!

A lot of stuff covered in a pretty short episode. It makes rewatching the episodes so much fun and never feels like a slog. I really love the design for the pirate captain Gorian Shard. I suspect he'll play a big part in this season. Overall it's like seeing a good friend after a long break.

Looks like next episode Din could be off to Tatooine to look for parts. Also, Navarro needs a marshal and I just happen to know of another marshal in this series that might be up for a change of scenery.

Interesting points seen in another net thread that purgils can indicate Ezra is closer and space pirates indicate Hondo is near too, two possible great live action cameos in TM.

    THIS! ^^^^

That's the way I felt too. Admittedly, I was expecting a 'big bang' season opener like we got in Season 2 with the krayt dragon. But Favreau's S3:E1 script was heavy on exposition and light on story---which was okay. I'm looking forward to seeing everything that got set-up in this one.

For me, the fun of this episode was all about the little things:
    • Grogu spinning his Karga's chair
    • Grogu's 'I'm gonna help myself to a candy' moment.
    • Grogu cuddling up with Daddy Din inside the ship.
    • The Armorer (another badass appearance)
    • I liked the space pirate Vane character. In fact, I liked him more than I did Gorian Shaard (at least for now).
    • The bust of Greef Karga falling and deactivating IG-11.
    • Grogu popping up inside Din's hot rod ship right before the opening credits.
    Onward to Episode 2!!!

Gorian Shard's appearance was definitely original. Looks like he has plants for hair? A physically interesting species. Cool! We have a plant dude pirate in star-wars now! I'd be willing to wager that that dude definitely smuggles Miracle-Gro.

@RockyRoadHux and I just watched Chapter 17 and I have to say, it was really boring. Even @RockyRoadHux almost fell asleep, because nothing urgent happened. Only the ending with Bo-Katan was important. I have to agree. This episode was alot of nothing. Mando gets somewhere and talks with someone about something, then there is action. Repeat. Not thrilling to me, because it lacks depth.

So far it feels more like a Sunday morning show, which isn't a bad thing. Hell, it's probably meant to feel like that. But that kind of show usually doesn't interest me.

Obviously we will keep watching though, but it's not a priority. There's a much better Pedro Pascal show streaming right now anyway.

But I don't want to end this post with so much negativity. The town set looked really nice and it's always awesome to hear soundeffects from the Prequels.

I'll watch this episode gladly way more times than that dour one hour episode of The Fancy Walking Dead from Sunday. Maybe it would have helped if Pedro was actually in the show more than "here's the depressing flashback of the week." I don't begrudge people for enjoying downer shows, but give me some genuine hopeful entertainment. Life is bleak enough as it is, no use wallowing in "who dies this week."
I'm definitely getting Chia Pet vibes. I can't wait to learn more about Shard and it's nice to get some menacing pirates in live action. It also shows how little power the New Republic has at this point.

To each to their own I guess, but for me TLOU is a show (or game) about becoming friends/family, a show about love and hope. Actually more Star Wars than current Star Wars itself.

It's funny you criticise the lack of Pedro and the filler content btw. Pedro is in every single episode and there was one filler episode so far. While Mando season 2 had 90% filler and only two shots of Pedro...

But hey, just agree to disagree here.
