SPECULATION OFFICIAL Rey Discussion Thread

I honestly don't have a problem with adopted!Rey Skywalker, provided it's executed well. I think it'd offer a really neat and dramatic theme/conflict between her and Kylo: The Privilege of Bloodline (Kylo) vs. the Merit (Rey). That's actually a more creative source for drama than a Brother vs. Sister conflict would be, and also would offer up some potentially meta analysis on the Star Wars fandom/mythos.

We've been expecting a direct blood relation for Rey this whole time; imagine what it would mean for Rey to not have that blood in her but prove herself to be every bit as worthy of the surname "Skywalker" as Luke or Leia.

 

I'm starting to lean more towards Kylo being the only new character in the Slywalker lineage and Rey maybe being a force sensitive orphan who was at some point adopted by the Skywalker family.

 

I trust the aggregate.

Only question I have is if they drag it out to a later film or there's a revelation ala Carol Marcus when Han and Chewie find Rey on the Falcon or another time within the movie.

 

I wonder how the dynamic between Rey and Finn will shape Rey's character. What role will they play in each other's lives? I think that Rey's world is so small, maybe even smaller than some people's on earth. Finn's world is the galaxy and her meeting him pushes her into the wider universe. That must be incredible.

Has anyone come up with the (only slightly crazy) theory that Rey and Poe are half-siblings? We meet Poe's mom in Shattered Empire, but what if his dad doesn't make it out and she ends up with Luke?

Note: I don't believe this theory, but I'm just fielding it out there.

Thanks man, i think from a story point of view yeah is completely possible that she isn't related to anybody.

But that possibility was throw out of the window the moment they cast Daisy Ridley, as Obi-Wan would say there's no such thing as Luck, or coincidence, look at my avatar, you could tell people that is the picture of Natalie Portman and you could fool some people, what would be the odds of you find a completely anounymous Actress barely amateur, and that by coincidence she is a mix of Portman, Keira Knightley and Carrie Fisher? that would be trolling in the hight level and i don't think Disney will let people troll us, even if is JJ ABRAMS

Re: the Poll. Where's the daughter of Leia only option?

I know we've been speculating Poe is on Jakku looking for the saber but I think he's actually been sent by Leia to find Rey.

 

Her likeness is one of the things that makes me think she could be offspring of Luke or Leia. I don't think we are going to find out her parentage in this movie. I think that she could have been raised by people who she thought was her parents who know are dead, or missing (there is the rumor that she is in Jakku waiting for them to come back) but later on learns the truth about her parentage.

Maybe he's supposed to bring the saber to Rey and Kylo interrupts his plans. BB8 saves the day, of course.

I have a theory that Sydow is Kanan Jarrus, going by a different name after he loses his apprentice and once again resorts to a non-Jedi life. I noticed a lot of similarities in their facial structure and eyebrows
