Someone on a different forum made an April Fool's joke about a Fire Emblem Star Wars game, and now I want to make it a Thing. The gameplay would probably end up more like X-COM than Fire Emblem, but I think it could work. I just need a theme song/motivational song, and the ideas will start flowing in.

I was watching someone play a Mod of X-Com 2 where its post-ROTS and the Clones are rebelling against the Empire, and it made me sort of wish that we could have a Turn-Based Strategy game like that in real life. I think I'd want it to be a little faster-paced than X-Com, but not as hard as an RTS may be. I think something more like Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes in terms of pacing - quick levels where you can send allies and units off to accomplish their own goals, but take charge when need be. (Only for a frame of reference and not in combat gameplay style.) You want the game to feel like it's an actual battle and things to move quickly, but you also want control over the units as well as complications.

As for a story, I have pieces of ideas, but no fully-formed plot. It'd take place Post-TROS and it'd feature a group of eager New Republic military recruits being sent on a scouting mission. After encountering a strange enemy at the edge of Wild Space, they must quickly set up a defensive perimeter in the surrounding galaxies and battle back this invasion. Due to Palpatine's actions, and Poe and Co's efforts to NOT repeat the past, the Republic has fractured into many galaxy-states and smaller groups. Players can ally with certain ones, as well as search out remnants of the First Order and the Final Order/Sith Empire/Sith Order/whatever they were called for technology and reinforcements.

So, yeah, X-COM 2 but with faster-paced battles.

    That sounds pretty cool.

Honestly, I wouldn't even mind a Star Wars X-Com game.

Have you played the Marvel game that came out last year? Midnight Suns, I think it's called. As I understand, it's pretty similar in some ways.

Midnight Suns! I've heard good things about it, but I never played it. Maybe I'll do so some day. I really thought I'd enjoy X-Com 2 more than I did lol! It looks like a fun game to play, but I just find it too stressful, even on Normal or Easy mode right now. If Midnight Suns is similar...I may have to pass on playing...

FWIW, it took me a few playthroughs to really click with X-COM 2.

Don't be afraid to Save Scum, and definitely focus on your labs and research, if you try again.
