Well if it goes around in a circle so to speak to link the whole saga. It may have some nods, but not full on nostalgia.

I think they will either split this movie into 2 parts or add an Ep X to properly wrap things up. I do think JJ will serve fans heaping servings of nostalgia while hopefully setting up an entry point for a new saga.

The very fact that it is set in the GFFA implies that there will be some built-in nostalgia. Nostalgia on its own isn't a bad thing. I personally don't think any of the films have had a 'nostalgia problem', although I may be alone in that.

Star Wars came out in 1977. Digest that. 41 years ago, many of our minds were blown and nothing has ever been the same. It holds true for those who came on board later...such as our kids and such. Sure, I raised my kids on the stuff. But I like to think they would have gravitated towards it regardless of if I had shown the way.

I mean we live in a world where hipsters wear beards that would fit in the 19th century and crave 'artisan' products that are created using 'time-honored' methods. THAT'S nostalgia for ya!

R1 and Solo LOOK like the universe they are set in. TFA does as well. I don't consider that nostalgia as much as it is 'fitting the universe the story is set in.'

Side note: Snarky hipsters telling me that SW under Disney is nothing but a nostalgia-fest..........................................yeah..............about that.

    XD

the only place the nostalgia (for lack of a better term) seemed distracting to me was in Rogue One.
but at the end of the day i'm fine with it. if it makes people happy to see Vader on Mustafar, i'm happy for them! : D

After I posted, I remember'd the Doctor Evizan, Ponda Boba (sp) quick scene in R1. Now that was a bad example of nostalgia, but I get it.

True dumpster-fire nostalgia would be if Beckett had told Han in SOLO: A Star Wars Story: "When it comes to shooting first, you should. Totally." (Both characters then turn slowly to the camera and wink)
