There are so many scenes to pick from.

I would have to say any scene featuring the twin suns is beautifully meaningful in my opinion. (I love them all)

Honorable mention goes to Jyn and Cassian embracing at the end of RO as they accept their fate.

Something about the Star Destroyers crashing into each other above the planetary shield on Scarif as debris reigns down set to the strangely haunting yet happy "Your Father Would Have Been Proud" is just incredible to me.

Beautiful in terms of aesthetic or emotion? Aesthetic, I'd probably have to say the Holdo Maneuver in TLJ, but there are a LOT of jaw-droppingly gorogeous shots in that film.

Emotion is a lot harder. The two that stick out to me are when Luke is dragging Vader towards the ship in ROTJ - that sheer determination to save his father is heartbreakingly beautiful - and probably something between Finn and Rose during TLJ. I'm not a giant fan of Finn and Rose's relationship, despite being a huge fan of both characters, but there's something pure about their relationship that I would classify as beautiful. It feels innocent in a way that I can't really see anymore, and real because Rose is the most realistic character in the series IMO. I don't know if any of that makes sense, but that's how I feel today.

Luke is dragging Vader is a good moment of show, not tell. I wish that the dialogue choices weren't so clunky and that Hamill's acting didn't feel stiff, comparatively to his acting in The Empire Strikes Back.

I don't get why people hate Rose. Just because she spits out what is probably a Return of the Jedi theme does not mean that the character stinks. If you think that Rose stinks because of the line, I suggest going back to the sources of where the line came from- Luke deciding to not kill Vader and deciding to not kill the Emperor (not kill what we hate, I guess?). Save what we love- Vader saving Luke.

Also, they blame Rose for supposedly threatening the Resistance and dooming them to their deaths when a. Poe specifically told the crew to turn back to save lives- he thought that their chances were better in the cave/waiting for the signal to somehow make it through in time to alert any allies/being taken as hostages/prisoners. b. Even if Poe was wrong about their chances, and that they were all going to die if the barrier was destroyed, it shows Rose willing (whether it's negative or positive development) to focus on a specific individual rather than save the Resistance. It's a risky theme, and I think, actually exposes ROTJ for what it is, Luke potentially taking insane risks against his friends and the Rebellion to save his father's soul, which is confusing enough at times ("because there's still good in him"... then why try to turn him, if he already has good in him? Is his goodness not enough to save him from the dark side? Saving his son makes him good, even though he was good enough to start with? Or allows him to changes sides, despite part of him already being good? What?).

I still find this scene better than the most confusing and inconsistent (in respect to TESB) scenes in ROTJ (throne room scene with Luke, Vader, and the Emperor- start to finish, and probably the bridge scene between Luke and Vader), which get a free pass from most SW fans, imo. If these scenes can get a free pass and (acceptance of the salesman pitch theme of "don't turn to the dark side or you will become a heartless monster") from 30-ish seconds of musical bliss, a dramatic and impressive right-to-left panning shot, some good pacing (with the music and Vader using his brain), and some moments of good acting (but not really good dialogue or sound logic, for the most part), I don't understand why fans accept this scene. And I honestly used to really like the throne scene.

There’s a lot of incredibly beautiful and emotional moments in Star Wars, but my personal favorite is Luke and Leia’s reunion in The Last Jedi. I get choked up every time I watch it, and seeing the behind-the-scenes bit when they shot that scene makes it so much more emotional. There’s an extra piece of dialogue –– after Leia says, “I’m just glad you’re here with me at the end,” she goes, “It’s the end, isn’t it?” and the pain in her voice is just heartbreaking. Carrie actually made herself cry shooting that scene. Mark also improvised the kiss on Carrie’s forehead, which was a really nice touch. Seeing how well that scene worked as Mark’s –– and the audience’s –– goodbye to Carrie was just really touching.

That really is a good scene. To be completely honest, Last Jedi isn’t my favorite film, but this scene has got to be one of the best of the whole ST.

I agree. I personally loved The Last Jedi, and from all of the discourse I’ve been involved in surrounding that film, almost everyone –– regardless of what side of the argument they’re on –– agrees that the moment between Luke and Leia is one of the best moments not only in that film, but in the entire Sequel Trilogy. It was executed perfectly, and I think it’s even more fitting that Carrie wrote much of the dialogue for that scene.

I can’t believe she wrote some of the dialogue. That makes this scene hit home a little more. You know, that is exactly something Carrie would do haha :)

The hug between Rey/Poe/Finn at the end of TROS. I'm not sure if it's THE single most beautiful moment in Star Wars but it's fresh in my mind and it hasn't been mentioned in the thread yet so I'm giving a nod to that. That's real emotion and real tears shed by a trio who've spent half a decade together working on these films and it gets to me.

If we're talking about beauty in the more literal sense, what my actual answer would be has already been said so I'm gonna go with:
It's not a perfect gif, it doesn't really do it justice (at least imo) but the first time I saw this in that TV spot, I immediately went to Youtube and replayed this specific moment back at least 20-25 times. The visual is so pleasing to me.

Beautiful can mean so much in different people’s eyes so any scene that you think is beautiful counts weather its visual or emotional. The end of TROS was a new one on the thread so thanks for expanding the conversation. I do agree. All scenes where these fighters have succeeded and embrace at the end shows their friendship and courage considering their work against evil. The scene you were talking about, the one in TROS, reminds me of that scene at the end of ANH where Han, Luke, and Lea embrace after the first DS is destroyed. In ANH, this scene shows us the beginning of this friendship between the three, well as a whole, not counting Han and Lea’s romantic relationship. And in TROS, that embrace scene shows us the friendship which has come all this way. Rey, Finn, and Poe embracing is a good way to conclude the friendship between these characters in the ST. To be honest, I actually think that the scene in TROS may have been inspiration from the ANH scene I was talking about but im not sure.

@Trev superb post and you have given me more appreciation for that scene....it follows with Luke’s wink to 3PO and then that score just building in intensity to the showdown....oh well I need to watch it again I guess!!!!!

Most powerful as in imagery or emotional?
1- Shmi Skywalker dying in Anakin's arms.
    2- Luke removing Vader's mask.
    3- Han frozen in carbonite.
    4- Han/Ben reunited.

    Imagery
    1- The Holdo Maneuver
2- Anakin leading the clones up the Jedi Temple.

Thought about this a bit last night. Am getting old because the obvious didnt occur to me.
Most emotional/dramatic/shocking scene in SW is EP V.. "No..I am your father".

For those who werent around, 1980 practically lost its s**t over that scene. Pure cinematic shocker along Psycho and Planet of the Apes.
Pure evil telling good they are father and son.

    Chees, KH
