So, many of you have likely seen the concept art of Season 2's female Inquisitor. And the fact that she appears to have greenish skin. And you are likely also aware that Filoni has seemingly hinted at Barriss Offee becoming an Inquisitor at some point. Put the two together and we have a probable scenario that Barriss is the female Inquisitor. But even more convincing of this is the fact that the timing to reveal her would be literally impeccable, what with Vader hunting down Ahsoka and all. So, here goes my theory...

Vader sends out Barriss because of her history with Ahsoka. He confronts Ahsoka with her, and appears to offer up Barriss as almost a challenge, much like Sidious offered up Vader to Luke in ROTJ, in the hopes of turning Luke to the dark side. Vader will at first hope to spare Ahsoka (there's still a tiny bit of good in him, albeit misplaced) by simply converting her to the dark side. Perhaps he even tells her that she was right to leave the Jedi Order when she did, and tries to convince her that the Jedi were evil much as he tried to convince Obi-Wan in ROTS. He would finally reveal the Inquisitor's identity as being Barriss, and tell Ahsoka that she now has a chance to exact her revenge on Barriss; Vader would urge her to "unleash her anger". Ahsoka would of course refuse, and would still be in disbelief that her old Master is now attempting to turn her to the dark side. Vader would then kill Barriss before Ahsoka's own eyes, and turn his lightsaber to Ahsoka and the big duel we've all been waiting for would ensue.

This is obviously speculation on my part, but I think this would actually play out quite nicely, should they decide to go this route with the story.

I must say, when I read "cool theory" it sparked a buzzword sense in my brain that told me "this is going to suck"... but it didn't.

I've myself speculated on Barriss being the newer Inquisitor, what with us never seeing her fate after Palpatine had her taken away, but I never actually thought of Vader using her to try and turn Ahsoka. It would certainly be very interesting to see. Somewhat of a retread of his thing with Luke as you mentioned, but different in the sense that Ahsoka knew him almost as a brother, whereas Luke did not have such a close connection to the man that became Vader. It would probably give us a nostalgia high while also bringing us down what with all the emotional tugging. This would have the potential to create an Ahsoka-Disguised Barriss recurring theme through the season, and would be an excellent buildup to the climactic Ahsoka-Vader duel.

Awesome theory and would very much like to see it. What I would not like to see is Vader being in almost every episode. I love seeing Vader again it gives me the chills, but we already know that he can't die or be badly damaged due to his appearance in the original trilogy. Perhaps 2-3 episodes but that's it. In my opinion the universe of Star Wars should expand, not sticking with the same characters. The same thing in episode 7, the new characters should be the main focus.
Psss. Anyone except me who wants to see some of the famous bounty hunters out there appear in season 2. I could actually see Dave Filoni dedicating an episode for Boba Fett. Would be cool

What if Vader does turn her? She's got a lot of anger in her; Barriss, her parting with the Jedi, finding out Anakin survived Order 66, discovering he's Vader, etc. Aside from fandom losing their minds, think of how great season 3 would be with Ahsoka as the lead villain. I wouldn't be happy about it, but I'd be glued to the tv the whole time. Just a thought.

Hm, I certainly wouldn't like it either, but indeed I'd be glued. However I think I'd take the Rey becoming Dark in TFA thing rather than Ahsoka turning. She seems too innocent and well-trained, in a way.

Certainly not both. That'd become too predictable.

I would love to see a Boba Fett who is already getting into his groove, more the masked silent type as we know him. Perhaps even working with both the Rebels and Imperials if the credits are enough... It could actually present an interesting situation if he at first does not know but at some point after working with them discovers former Jedi (Ahsoka and Kanaan) among the rebel ranks. Can't remember if he ever let go of his Jedi issues in TCW or not.

I think it wasn't Jedi overall that much but Mace Windu specifically due to the fact that he killed his "father" Jango Fett. But although I could see him turn his back on Kanan and Ezra after working with them for a while. He'll get loads of credits for two jedi's.

Heh, indeed I forgot the outstanding bounties on any remaining Jedi aspect. In any case I need to rewatch TCW in preparation for all this, you might be correct about his Jedi hate. He may have given that up after he couldn't kill Windu... I'm unclear on that at the moment.

On a side note, I seem to remember some of his old EU stuff kind of revolving around a preference of order vs. chaos, much like Anakin in the PT. It would be interesting to see if the aftermath of the Clone Wars still left him with such a stance.
